Deltia’s Introduction

 Hello Gang!

My name is Jacob Hausman and I’m excited to start blogging about PC gaming.   I decided to start this blog because I enjoy playing, discussing, and thinking about all things related to PC gaming.  I want to share my thoughts, learn new things, and meet new people who are just as enthusiastic about PC gaming as I am.

What to Expect

This blog will be the place to find the freshest information on PC gaming.  I want to cover the latest news, technology, games, and opinions.  Specifically, I plan to start a weekly opinion column regarding my thoughts on a specific topic (such as eSports, future of PC gaming, etc).  Additionally, I want to discuss the nuts and bolts of gaming, with specific guides related to certain games, and overall guides (keybinding, how to setup macros, improving internet speed and so on).  Feedback is important so if you have ideas or a direction, leave a comment.

Since this is my first blog, I’d figure some introductions are in order.

Quick Facts

  • Age – Close to 30
  • Weight – 170 depending on the month
  • Gender – Male
  • Favorite Game of all time – The original Mass Effect
  • PC Gaming – over 15 years
  • I have Master’s degree in Leadership (useful for leading Guilds)
  • Currently run a non-profit for companion animals (here)
  • Military Veteran US Army Infantry for 3 years

Those stats are all fine and dandy, but if you’re reading this you probably want to know why gaming (specifically PC gaming is important to me).

Gaming In General

  1. PC gaming connects people – I’ve meet countless people from the entire world through gaming.  I’ve broaden my horizons, understanding, and acceptance of people all because we ran into each other in a game.  Some of these people are my closest friends even though I’ve never meet them.
  2. Makes any experience possible – Ever wanted to be a Navy Seal on a top secret mission?  Have you ever dreamt about being the Captain of your own space ship saving the galaxy from evil?  This and more is all possible via gaming.
  3. Stress Reliever – When something is getting to me and I want to tune out the world I fire up the old trusty PC.  For me, sharing in an experience rich environment such as a MMORPG, is like someone going to visit a friend at a bar for drinks.  We sit down, talk about the “good old days,” and destroy “baddies.”

PC Gaming

  1. Control – PC gaming offers the must control of any system.  I can control virtually every aspect of my gaming experience.  From what my keyboard/mouse are to my graphics setup, communication, etc.  It’s all customizable, configurable, and unique to each person.
  2. Graphics – Yes PC gaming maybe more expensive, but sometimes in life you get what you pay for.  I’ve built a $5,000 computer in the past (extreme overkill), which was simply amazing in comparison to the latest console system.  Not to mention that I can keep swapping in and out parts as one becomes dated.  Having over 60 frames per second at 1080p resolution on any game with max settings is what any PC gamer dreams of.
  3. Player driven content (mods) – I became a lifelong pc gamer fan-boy when I discovered a site called nexusmods.com.  The sheer amount of games/content available for free is staggering.  I remember playing through Dragon Age with 30+ mods thinking this is a completely different game than my first play through.  This has continually evolved and the power of mods has expanded, look at Skyrim for example.

Hmm it seems like your blog ate my first comment (it
was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to the whole thing.
Do you have any helpful hints for rookie blog writers?
    I’d definitely appreciate it.

Hey thanks for the comments. The best thing I’ve found is getting some free books on Amazon and reading how the pros do it. Pick a topic that you can talk (write) about endlessly and just write a weekly column on what you’re doing that’s interesting. That’s pretty much what I do.

Thanks again for visiting the site!
