Welcome to our ESO Dragonknight Skill Guide. In this section, we go over DK skills and morphs. Keep in mind, many of these skills and morph can be changed depending on your play-style.

Ardent Flame

Dragonknight Standard

Call down a flaming battle standard that deals X flame damage each second to nearby enemies and afflicts them with Major Defile, which reduces the effectiveness of healing by 40%. While the standard is up, an ally can activate Shackle to deal X flame damage and immobilize enemies in range.

Shifting Standard

Call down a flaming battle standard that deals X flame damage each second to nearby enemies and afflicts them with Major Defile, which reduces the effectiveness of healing by 40%. Call the standard again to move it to a new location. While the standard is up, an ally can activate Shackle to deal X flame damage and immobilize enemies in range.

NEW EFFECT: Standard is cheaper and you can move it to a new location, refreshing its duration.

Standard Of Might

Call down a flaming battle standard that deals X flame damage each second to nearby enemies and afflicts them with Major Defile, which reduces the effectiveness of healing by 40%. The standard also increases your damage by 17% and reduces damage dealt to you by 17%. While the standard is up, an ally can activate Shackle to deal X flame damage and immobilize enemies in range.

NEW EFFECT: Increased damage done and reduced damage taken near standard.

Fiery Grip

Empowering Chains

Fiery Breath

Engulfing Flames

Exhale a flaming blast, dealing X flame damage to enemies in front of you and an additional X flame damage over 8 seconds. Affected enemies take 7% additional damage from flame attacks.

NEW EFFECT: Target takes increased damage from fire attacks.

Lava Whip

Lash an enemy with flame for X damage and set immobile or stunned enemies off balance. You can only set an enemy off balance once every 5 seconds.

Flame Lash

Lash an enemy with flame for X damage and set immobile or stunned enemies off balance. When targeting an off balance enemy, this becomes Power Lash, which deals X Flame Damage and stuns the target for 2 seconds. It also heals you for X. You can only set an enemy off balance once every 5 seconds.

NEW EFFECT: Allows for a life-stealing attack on off balance enemies.

Molten Whip

Lash an enemy with flame for X damage and set immobile or stunned enemies off balance. While slotted, the damage of Ardent Flame abilities is increased by X. You can only set an enemy off balance once every 5 seconds.

NEW EFFECT: While ability is slotted, deal more damage with fire attacks.

Inferno

Activate an aura of flames, granting major prophecy, which increases your spell critical by X. The aura also launches a fireball at the nearest enemy every 6 seconds, dealing X flame damage over 8 seconds.

Flames of Oblivion

Activate an aura of flames, granting major prophecy, which increases your spell and weapon critical by X. The aura also launches a fireball at the nearest enemy every 6 seconds, dealing X flame damage over 8 seconds. While active, your Max Magicka is reduced by 15%.

NEW EFFECT: Adds Weapon Critical Strike Rating.

Sea of Flames

Activate an aura of flames, granting major prophecy, increasing your spell critical by X. The aura also launches a fireball at the nearest enemy every 6 seconds, dealing X flame damage over 8 seconds. If a fireball kills an enemy, you have X magicka restored. While active, your Max Magicka is reduced by 15%.

NEW EFFECT: Gain Magicka when you kill enemies.

Kindling

Increases the damage of flame abilities’ burning effect by (33-66%)

Warmth

Damaging enemies with Ardent Flame abilities also reduces their movement speed by (15-30%) for 4 seconds.

Searing Heat

Increases the damage of Fiery Breath, Searing Strike, and Dragonknight Standard abilities by 3% and the duration by 2 seconds.

World in Flame

Increases the damage of flame-based area of effect abilities by (3-6%).

Draconic Power

Dragon Leap

Launch yourself at an enemy, dealing X physical damage to all enemies in the area and knocking them back.

Ferocious Leap

Launch yourself at an enemy, dealing X physical damage to all enemies in the area and knocking them back. Also absorb 100% of your Max Health in damage over 12 seconds.

Take Flight

Launch yourself at an enemy, dealing X physical damage to all enemies in the area and knocking them back.

Spiked Armor

Release your inner dragon to gain major resolve and major ward, increasing armor and spell resistance by X for 17 seconds. While active, the armor returns X physical damage to melee attackers.

Volatile Armor

Release your inner dragon to deal X Magic Damage to nearby enemies over 10 seconds. You also gain major resolve and major ward, increasing armor and spell resistance by X for 17 seconds. While active, the armor returns X physical damage to melee attackers.

NEW EFFECT: Deals area damage on activation.

Hardened Armor

Release your inner dragon to gain major resolve and major ward, increasing armor and spell resistance by X for 17 seconds. While active, the armor returns 146 Physical Damage to melee attackers and for 2.5 seconds after activation, it absorbs up to 10% of your max health in damage.

NEW EFFECT: Damage shield on activation.

Dark Talons

Call forth talons from the ground to deal X physical damage and immobilize nearby enemies for 3 seconds. While enemies are held, an ally can active Impale to deal X magic damage.

Draw on your draconic blood to heal 30% of missing health. Also grants Major Fortitude and Minor Vitality, increasing Health Regeneration by 20% and healing received by 8% for 20 seconds.

Green Dragon Blood

Flex your scales to reflect up to 4 projectiles over 4 seconds. The reflected projectiles deal 20% additional damage to the attacker.

Reflective Plate

Flex your scales to reflect up to 4 projectiles over 4 seconds. Also grants Minor Ward, increasing Spell Resistance X for 20 seconds.

Inhale

Channel draconic energy to steal X health from up to 3 nearby enemies. After 2.5 seconds, you exhale fire, dealing X magic damage to nearby enemies.

NEW EFFECT: Adds interrupt and final explosion deals more damage.

Draw Essence

Iron Skin

Block an additional (5-10%) damage.

Increases healing received by (6-12%) while a draconic power ability is active.

Increases spell resistance by X.

Earthen Heart

Magma Armor

Ignite the molten lava in your veins to cap incoming damage at 3% of your max health and deal X flame damage to nearby enemies each second for 7.5 seconds.

Magma Shell

Ignite the molten lava in your veins to cap incoming damage at 3% of your max health and deal X flame damage to nearby enemies each second for 7.5 seconds. While active, allies can activate Protective Shell as a damage shield for 100% of their max health.

NEW EFFECT: Allies may activate a synergy granting a powerful damage shield.

Corrosive Armor

Eternal Mountain

Increased duration of Earthen Heart abilities by (10-20%).

Battle Roar

Activating an ultimate restores health, magicka, and stamina in amount increased by (35-70%) of the ultimate’s cost.

Mountain’s Blessing

Activating an Earthen Heart ability grants 2 additional ultimate and minor brutality to allies within 30m, increasing weapon damage by 5% for (10-20) seconds.

Helping Hands

Activating an earthen heart ability restores (2-5%) stamina.

    Great summary of skills. Can’t say I disagree with any of the morphs you chose, they were certainly the ones I had planned for the DK back in beta.
    Always a big fan of guides explaining morph picks as I know many people struggle. That’s why I worked on a templar skill guide and am now working on the weapons.

    So keep up the great work, if any of my guildies ask for DK advice I will direct them here!

    Well done Deltia, thanks for providing this great guide. I like how you describe why you took certain morphs, although next time, it may be good to go over the other morphs and why you don’t think there are as good (you did do that on some of them). I look forward to the next Part. Also, the music was a bit too loud to here you when it was just you talking (no game view), starting about 9 mins in.

        Dear Deltia first of all:
        Thank you for your awesome site with great builds and amazing videos.

        Can you please help me with my idea?
        Actually i’m on the lower levels and the leveling works well but i have problems when it comes to the vet levels.
        My idea is:
        Maximize the weapon dmg with : Molten Armaments
        Maximize Stamina & health reg with: Green Dragon Blood & getting a werewolf
        For armor i want to go with 4 pieces of hundings rage and 4 pieces of ashen grip (12% crit chance & 14 weapon dmg) or 5 pieces hundings rage and 3 pieces night silence for more stamina reg and still 8% crit chance and 24 weapon dmg. (7x medium)
        As Ultimate i thought of standard of might or the Flawless dawnbreaker for more weapon dmg.

        It would be awesome if you could optimize my idea and maybe upload it on your site.

            thx for your fast response. Sorry i haven’t mentioned that i want to play with a bow and pve not pvp.
            I tried a few of your builds like your latest Sorc DPS build a one of your NB builds. But i never even come close to your dps level. Okay i’m only VR3 not 14. But with the sorc you get 1000dps and i’m lucky if i get 350-480 in a bit longer fight. And with my NB also VR3 i get a real good starting DPS ( 1000-1200 DPS in a 4-6sec fight ) but in a longer fight lets say 15-20sec i reach only 400-500dps. Is that okay for a VR3 or does it take so much training to get so much dps?

    Boo Hoo (time to cry)….Corrosive Armour took a hit…along with Igneous Weaps and Ash Cloud…this will make tanking even more difficult for a DK.
    Will be interested to see what skills would make a decent DK-Tank (I know everyone will be a Temp for just about everything now…Tank, Heal, Damage, Self-Sustain).

    As for Standard…looks like Shifting will be the more useful morph as you can “re-pop” it on those pesky peeps that roll out of it.

      I’m afraid I agree. I no longer see my vet dk as a viable tank. I love tanking. I shall try templar, but if I can’t find a build I like or find viable I’m afraid my future in this game maybe short. A real shame but if I don’t like it I will not continue

      DKs are an absolute powerhouse in 1.6. Corrosive may have taken a defensive nerf, but with 100% armor pen, you become an unstoppable melee force. Trust me, DK stamina builds will be amazing in 1.6. I’ll update my Butcher soon to prove it.

    Deltia, from what I’m reading, DK’s best option now is stamina build? I selected a High Elf for its magicka and has been great for me (magicka regen is very good). Just hit VR1 with my DK, but should I reroll for better stat selection?

      Don’t reroll just for stats. If you love your character, play it. I play a Nord DK and do just fine DPS. Stamina will probably be FOTM from here on. More to come!

    Hi Deltia,

    Am new to your page but like it a lot. Love the guides and videos.
    I was wondering what ur opinion was regarding keeping my DK Magicka build (which I really enjoyed playing sofar) still a mean fighting DPS machine. I realized that 1.6 made me really squishy and the dps is just horrifying. Maybe its the way I am used to play but now Craglorn is not a solo mission for me anymore which sucks as there are rarely players who want to group. Also what is a good DPS ratio in your opinion in 1.6. I used to do around 1k or more prior to 1.6.

      You can still do good with magicka using the other two morphs of Fiery Breath and Engulfing Flame. I’ll rebuild the Shooting Star with a trick, Eruption…..Trust me it’s still does fine 🙂

    Deltia do you think DK still viable as a tank but also I have read on many website that DK could a very good healer once 1.6 eat due to igneous weapon.

      I think it’ll still be viable just have to change up some things. It’s a big change for everyone, don’t give up on what you love.

    I love your guides.
    I’m trying to level up to 50 and need a good solo leveling build. I have been Ardent Flame all the way with heavy armor and heavy concentration of points in health, not that much in stamina.

    I did watch your new guide no the bloody butcher, but not sure if it’s applicable at L 39.

    Any help?

      You’ll need more stuns for sure while leveling. Try swapping in Wrecking Blow or Stone Fist.

      Try using Laceration build focusing on magicka to start.

    Does Immovable, Igneous shield and hardened armor stack on each other. And If not what can and cant stack? Making a Stamina Tank Build. Using heavy/Medium. Board and shield. As main.

    Any Help will gladly be taken. Using all buffs, vigor , and puncture on first bar.

      Immovable and Hardened do not, same buff, igneous is a shield so yes.

    Are you going to update all the skills tooltip? Post Dark Brotherhood update even now thieves Guild update isn’t updated. Atm a majority are outdated.

      Most likely not, I had someone who helped me on my site find the images and update them but he’s long gone. It’s a monster amount of work to do and I’m just one person. I’ll probably take the links off the menu soon unfortunately.
