ESO Templar Skills Guide

Built for healing and tanking, the Templar has some interesting abilities and passives.  Blazing shield and Repentance happen to be two of my favorite in the game.  While Templar’s can fulfill any role, their skill lines and passive really set them up to be strong tanks and healers.  This guide discusses the active skills and the morphs.  So let’s dive in with our ESO Templar Skills Guide!

Aedric Spear

Radial Sweep

Swing your Aedric spear around with holy vengeance, dealing X magic damage to all nearby enemies and an additional X magic damage every 2 seconds for 6 seconds.

Empowering Sweep

Biting Jabs

NEW EFFECT: Ability now scales off weapon damage and max stamina. Increases weapon critical strike rating.

Toppling Charge

Charge with your divine lance to impale an enemy for X magic damage and stun them for 1.5 seconds. If casting, enemy is set off balance for 5 seconds.

Spear Shards

Send your spear into the heavens to bring down a shower of divine wrath, dealing X magic damage to enemies in the target area. Also disorients one enemy for 6 seconds. While active, an ally can pick up a spear shard, restoring 25% stamina plus an additional X stamina over 10 seconds.

Blazing Spear

Luminous Shards

Sun Shield

Piercing Spear

Increases the damage bonus for your critical strikes by 10% and your damage against blocking targets by (5-10%).

Spear Wall

Increases the amount of damage you block against melee attacks by (7-15%).

Burning Light

Gives you 25% chance to cause an extra X magic damage any time you hit with an Aedric Spear ability. (damage uses spell damage or weapon damage based on which is higher).

Balanced Warrior

Increases your weapon damage by (3-6%) and your spell resistance by X.

Dawn’s Wrath

Nova

Call down a fragment of the sun to deal X magic damage each second to enemies in the target area and reduce the damage from their attacks by 30%. An ally can activate supernova, dealing X magic damage to all enemies in the area and and stunning them for 2.5 seconds.

Solar Disturbance

Call down a fragment of the sun to deal X magic damage each second to enemies in the target area and reduce the damage from their attacks by 30%. Also reduces enemies’ movement speed by 62%. An ally can activate supernova, dealing X magic damage to all enemies in the area and and stunning them for 2.5 seconds.

NEW EFFECT: Snares enemies standing in the area.

Solar Prison

Call down a fragment of the sun to deal X magic damage each second to enemies in the target area and reduce the damage from their attacks by 30%. An ally can activate gravity crush, dealing X magic damage to all enemies in the area and and stunning them for 5 seconds.

NEW EFFECT: Allies may activate a more powerful synergy ability.

NEW EFFECT: Nearby enemies receive less healing.

Backlash

Summon an expanding beam of pure sunlight to doom an enemy, storing all damage taken for 6 seconds and releasing it with a 33% increase. Maximum damage X.

Power of the Light

Summon an expanding beam of pure sunlight to doom an enemy, storing all damage taken for 6 seconds and releasing it with a 36% increase. Targets are also inflicted with minor fracture which reduces their armor by X for 6 seconds. Maximum damage X.

NEW EFFECT: Your maximum damage now scales off stamina, and you reduce the target’s armor.

Power of the Light

Grants minor sorcerer to nearby allies, increasing spell damage by 5% for (10-20) seconds.

Restoring Spirit

Reduces magicka, stamina and ultimate ability cost by (2-4%).

Restoring Light

Rite of Passage

Channel the grace of the gods, healing nearby allies for X every 1 second. You cannon move while channeling, but you gain immunity to all enemy control effects.

Mending

Increases the healing effects from your restoring light abilities by up to (5-10%) in proportion to the severity of the target’s wounds.

Focused Healing

Increases the healing effects of your restoring light abilities by (15-30%) for allies with the target area of Rite of Passage, Cleansing Ritual, and Rune Focus.

Light Weaver

Provides bonuses for Restoring Light abilities: Increases the duration of Restoring Aura by (10-20%), Healing Ritual grants 2 ultimate to allies under (30-60%) health, Channeling Rite of Passage grants X bonus to your Armor and Spell Resistance.

Master Ritualist

Increased resurrection speed by (10-20%), resurrected allies return with (50-100%) more health and gives you a 50% chance to gain a soul gem after each successful resurrection.

    Another awesome guide!
    The Backlash skill is certainly an interesting one. Solo it is pretty worthless, but in a group, so long as your team can manage 4500 damage within its duration, it will do an additional 1500 at the end. Ad in the Power of the Light Morph to increase the groups damage by 10% and it is an effective Templar skill (as long as only one casts it)
    I agree regarding Eclipse! It does feel like a poor man’s DK. 99% of the time it is plain inferior, for 1% of the time you get to appreciate the fact that the spell can be used to protect your team rather than just yourself, and for that time it feels awesome…but I would trade it for Reflective Scales without a seconds thought

    I am currently running a two-handed/bow templar on live and looking maintain around the same build in 1.6!
    As far a bread n butter single target skills, what do you think will be the best for a melee templar:
    -Biting jabs with the Piercing Spear and Burning Light passives and major brutality buff
    – Wrecking Blow + HA clip with Evil Hunter slotted, follow-up passive, and empower buff to HA

    I’m a templar healer and I like that I can give the stamina dpsers and the tank extra stamina with repentence and the synergie of blazing spear. but is there a way that I can give the magica dpsers magicka back?? is there a syergie or a morph or anything I can do??

    I’m just let you know not sure if you care or not but under rushed ceramoney you have two honor the dead but I think the 3 ally heal suppose be breath of life. If I remember correctly lol Just to let cha know lol

    Hey, haven’t been able to find an answer to this anywhere so maybe someone here will know. What is “magic damage” in terms of resistance/buffs? Most spells seem to be tagged as fire, frost, poison etc. but template have tons of magic damage. Is this resisted by anything other than straight magic resistance? Is it buffed by anything other than your base spell damage? Thanks for any responses.

    Hey guys
    I wanna know what the spell is called and wich skill line it is availaibe in.. The one that does damage its like yellow straight line from your hand to the body of the enemy. Seen alot of guys use that spell.

      I dont remember the name of the original skill but what i morphed it into is called radiant oppression. It’s the last skill in the dawns wrath skill line. It is nasty!!!!! I combine it with soul strike when going against big bosses or PvP.

    I’m an Imperial Templar and primarily use stamina. Im looking for a nice magic dump and I’m considering radiant oppression. Does this ability only scale off of max magic only or can weapon or spell damage increase damage? Thanks

    A lot of the skills in here are mislabeled where is purifying light? honor the dead is listed twice. where is breath of life?.. Just wanted to inform you I don’t want people getting confused looking at this list wondering where these abilities are Because they are mislabeled or not listed

    Hi, any advice on best auto targetting attack to use mainly on my templar on a console. Having trouble targetting in pvp. only one that comes to mind is the heal staff?

    am i correct in assuming that a khajiit bowplar will be good in pvp? i love ranged dps but im burnt out on c fraging with my dunmer sorc.

    Deltia, I just made a Templar, I really don’t understand the skills and the build. I want to be a pure DPS Stamina Templar. I’m only lv 7 at the moment, Imperial race. Can you help me understand a little better.

      Sure Nick,

      Go with the Harvester, it is stamina based and has a level guide from 1 to VR 16.
