ESO Tel Var Farming Build – Tel Var Timmy

Here’s a specific build for farming Tel Var stones in Elder Scrolls Online Imperial City.  This is specifically made for that area, not overland (Bee Mode is still useful).

Build Video

Objective

Make a very tanky, self-sufficient build for Imperial City.  This build is meant for solo farming, meaning fighting World Bosses while being able to kill players attempting to gank you.  This build isn’t meant for Overland Cyrodiil or Dueling, but is great for earning tons of stones, gold and mats.

Skills

Destruction Staff Fire

  1. Inner Light OR Radiant Magelight (morph of Magelight | Mages guild skill line) – This is most important morph choice you have, IL is more damage while RM is great for stealth detection.  I’d recommend RM for newer players and IL for folks comfortable with the Templar.  Make sure to be on the IL/RM bar while moving and activate to reveal enemies.
  2. Reflective Light (morph of Sun Fire | Dawn’s Wrath skill line) – Purpose of this skills a high powered damage over time (DoT), ult builder and a source of minor Sorcerery .  We get major Sorcerery with our potions of stealth detection so we get 25% as a soloplar.
  3. Repentance (morph of Radiant Aura | Restoring Light skill line) – The purpose of this skill is sustaining our healing and stamina with corpses.  Since some bosses in Imperial City have adds (or additional enemies), it’s a great tool for free healing and stamina sustain.
  4. Puncturing Sweeps (morph of Puncturing Strikes | Aedric Spear skill line) – Our main spammable ability that heals us based on the damage done.  It’s the bread and butter skill, great AoE and single target with a snare.  Simply maintain Reflective Light every 6 seconds, and Sweeps down until 40% of bosses health.
  5. Radiant Glory (morph of Radiant Destruction | Dawn’s Wrath skill line) – BEAM! Once a mob/enemy gets below 40% health, this skill because optimal to use while maintaining Reflective Light up.  The healthing this morph provides is staggering, I can get 13k crits the more damage I do.
  • [Ultimate] Eye of the Storm FIRE (morph of Elemental Storm | Destruction Staff skill line) – A juggernaut AoE DPS skill with a massive cost.  Use this when you have enough healing and need to burn down a boss or enemy players.

Sword and Shield

  1. Channeled Focus (morph of Rune Focus | Restoring Light skill line) – Great resource management and major resistance buff.  Place down and walk in every six seconds to get the buff.
  2. Extended Ritual (morph of Cleansing Ritual | Restoring Light skill line) – Major mending, heal over time and a snare, this ability is insane.  I often use this more than Breath of Life (BoL) for survival which I will show in the video.  In the days of ESO poisons, removing harmful effects is almost more important than outright healing and this is a much have.
  3. Elusive Mist (morph of Mist Form | Vampire skill line) – Our mobility survival tool that gives us time to think.  The benefits are removal of snares/immobilizes and speed, the downsides are the lack of casting while in Mist Form.  This skill takes a long time to perfect but once you learn how to Mist and Line of Sight (LoS) you’ll be very hard to kill.
  4. Blazing Spear (morph of Spear Shards | Aedric Spear skill line) – A stun, massive AoE damage and unlike Puncturing Sweeps, can be casted repeatedly WHILE blocking.  This is important because of the damage mitigation and reduction in CCs or stuns.  We get stunned, we die.  Cast for utility, stun and AoE damage.
  5. Breath of Life (morph of Rushed Ceremony | Restoring Light skill line) – Still a very powerful heal even though it’s only two people.  You just need to make sure to cast it when players are low health to get the max benefit.
  • [Ultimate] Devouring Swarm (morph of Bat Swarm | Vampire skill line) – Great AoE damage, low cost ult that acts as a “oh crap” button.  Mainly use Eye of the Storm, but hit this when you are being ganked or need massive healing.

Gear

Imperial Physique Set – A massive boost to stats if we keep 10,000 tel var stones on us.  Yeah, it’s high risk high reward but over 40k magicka and 37k health gives us a big boost to damage and survival.  You can get this gear by using Tel Var for random lock boxes or buying from guild trader.

  • Alternate set would be Armor of the Trainee set.

Seducers – We have this on our S/B bar for reduced cost and the three piece is always on. Think survival first solo, damage secondary.

  • Alternate set would be Lich for sustain or Clever Alchemist for huge burst.

Valykn Skoria – A great set because the meteor cannot be dodge or avoided making it a great counter to Nightblades.

  • Alternate set would be 2pc Vicious Death for spell damage if you don’t have monster helms.

    Can’t see it

D — so many of your builds run the Skoria helm set, are you ever going to do a dungeon guide for City of Ash II? Everyone keeps saying that’s the toughest fight since Skoria is the most desired and one of the most powerful helms.
(Long-time fan and I’ve learned a tonne by watching your videos!)

Already done a guide, here it is: https://youtu.be/QkAFbDkUGfs

        Awesome, D, many thanks!

I honestly may wuss out and just wait for The Golden to sell that helm, but this is a huge help.
How are you generating so much Ultimate with that DK?
And is this an early iteration of what will become Laceration? Looks like a Magicka DK but I still hesitate to switch mine over to mostly Light Armor.

This is a mag templar build.

Do u reconmmend this build for Imperial Prison?

    • Deltia on December 26, 2016 at 1:38 pm

No, its only for farming stones. Omeaga for PvE dungeon DPS.

Can’t wait to use this and round up some tel var for the Xivkyn polymorphs

If one does not want to become vampire what would you suggest to replace bats and elusive mist?

    • Deltia on December 26, 2016 at 1:39 pm

      Use shuffle medium armor skill.

Hey Delts. Hope you’re well mate. Would you say that Argonian is a viable race for this build?
Best wishes to you and your family for 2017 🙂

Hey deltia thanks for the build! Just finished getting the armor sets today, hopefully tomorrow I can get the skills leveled up!

  8. Alan Christopher on January 11, 2017 at 8:56 pm

    Hi Deltia
In the video you say that Imp Physic set is not for a DK..which set would be best ? And will you be doing the DK buuld ?

    • Deltia on January 11, 2017 at 10:22 pm

For mag dk do Imperial physic 5pc on body, 5pc trainee jewelry and sword shield with grothdarr, you’ll be insane.

      • alan christopher on January 12, 2017 at 10:45 am

        Many Thanks

      • Alan Christopher on January 12, 2017 at 11:44 am

Sorry i forgot to ask…would it work with a DK Orc …using the skills from the T3 tremoscale build. Using the armour sets Imp Phy / Trainee / Tremoscale
        Thanks

        • Deltia on January 12, 2017 at 2:29 pm

          same thing really.

          • Alan Christopher on January 12, 2017 at 5:51 pm

            Great..Thank you

      • David on February 3, 2017 at 3:43 am

When you say 5pc of both sets, doesn’t that mean you aren’t getting the two piece helm and shoulder benefits?

        • Deltia on February 4, 2017 at 1:53 am

You only get seducers bonus on your backbar, physique all times.

  9. Chris on January 13, 2017 at 2:40 am

hey deltia! again awesome guide, thanks for that! quick question, I am using the trainee set on an altmer cause I dont have imperial physic.. same build as u recommended etc. I am at 26khp though and cant fight bosses cause I almost got oneshotted! Any ideas? Could u make a build with DK Orc ?? 😉

    • Deltia on January 13, 2017 at 1:44 pm

Are you using channel focus with heavy armor? There’s no way you should get one shot with that much resistance. If not, use prismatic glyphs on large pieces to get more health.

    • Collin Fordham on January 17, 2017 at 7:42 pm

i would also like to see a mag dk orc build for this, you said which gear already but i have no clue which skills to choose

  10. Alan on February 6, 2017 at 1:16 am

I guess this build is no good for imperial race. Due to the stamina passives

    • Deltia on February 6, 2017 at 10:46 am

      Naw works fine.

  11. Rodrigo on June 4, 2017 at 2:07 am

Any suggestion if. I dont hava vma

  12. Moday on June 25, 2017 at 9:27 am

Hey Deltia, what would you reccomend for a stam sorc? I’ve been building for the normal heavy armor pvp build you have going (Knight’s Errant, Bone-Pirate, and Selenes). Just looking for the Selene shoulders now. Also, how much viability will I be losing for using a sharpened vMA hammer instead of axe? Thanks!

    • Moday on June 25, 2017 at 9:30 am

Also, in your stamsorc guide, you have the trait for a shield as sharpened. What is the trait to use for it?
