This REPO guide will go over how to deal with the Heart Hugger, a new monster that was added in as part of the Monsters update.
REPO is a game that doesn’t shy away from showing you ungodly horrors, but the Heart Hugger is a monster that turns the tables to comfort you. This new monster lures you in with the premise of a lovely hug, but if you get too close, it bares its fangs to strike you.
The Heart Hugger is one of the most unsettling monsters in REPO, and is also one that’s fairly difficult to deal with. The monster’s attack range can be a bit difficult to predict, which makes it a frustrating roadblock for many players. How Heart Hugger Works in REPO
The Heart Hugger is a weird snake/plant-like monster that stalks the hallways of the levels in REPO. If this creature spots you in the hallways, it spits out a poison gas that covers about a 2-foot distance. If you fall in the range of the gas, you start hallucinating and envision the monster to be a cute heart trying to hug you.
Once you see the pink heart, your character will then automatically move towards it slowly. When you’re in striking range, the monster will then kill the vision and attack you with its sharp teeth. It will strike you 5 times, and each hit deals a staggering 30 damage.

How To Deal With Heart Hugger in REPO
As you can see, the Heart Hugger uses its gas on you once you get close enough. This means there’s no way to attack it directly without exposing yourself to the gas. Therefore, the trick to beating this monster is to let it poison you with the gas.
Once the Heart Hugger starts pulling you towards it, you then need to pull your weapon out and quickly begin striking it. The monster takes about 3-4 seconds to transform into its snake-like body and attack. It won’t attack you while it’s in the pink heart phase. Use this phase to strike it down with a weapon and defeat the creature.
If you’re playing with a friend, you can grab onto your friend and pull them back. If you pull your friend back far enough, you’ll nullify the effects of the poison gas and save your friend. For levels with the Heart Hugger, we suggest pairing up so that there’s always one player to save the other.
