Explore the Expedition Project in Arc Raiders, the challenges you will take on, and the exclusive type of buffs and rewards you can expect.

Progression wipes have been an age-old concept that a lot of games, both new and old, incorporate to help keep each game fresh and equally balanced amongst competitors. As per this concept, apart from choosing your own skin, there is no other equipment, weapon, or resource you can take along with you for a game. But with the Expedition Project introduced by Arc Raiders, big changes have come to light.
In this article, we will be exploring the Expedition Project in Arc Raiders.
How Is the Expedition Project Different from Progression Wipes

With Progression Wipes, each game feels balanced with just a player’s experience and luck with loot directing the flow of their game. If you feel extra adventurous, you can try raiding hotspots and secure better loot. You could, in contrast, also choose to play it safe and focus on a quick escape. While in theory, this is a great way to try and keep the game fair, it lacks respect for the player’s grind.
After all the time and effort a player invests in each map, surviving the dangers the world has to offer and the pressure of time, there is nothing left for keeps. You leave the map, content with your performance, but are left to repeat the same process with no genuine sense of fulfilment. Arc Raiders brings a beautiful change to this system by allowing players to maintain loot and make each extraction feel more meaningful.
If you fail to escape, you don’t just lose the game, but all the loot you manage to scavenge during that time. Now, to further balance this system, Arc Raiders has brought about the Expedition Project, which we will uncover.
What is the Expedition Project in Arc Raiders

The Expedition Project will be made available for a player once they reach level 20 in the game. Through this feature, a player will finally unlock the option for ‘Character Reset’. For this, however, you will need to first complete a set of challenges to make progress towards this long-term investment during the first 7 weeks.
Once you reach the eighth and final week, the ability to complete the last step will unlock, remaining available for the remainder of the timeline. If you complete all the stages of progress, you can commit to the completion of the Expedition Project for this period.
If, however, you are not able to reach the quota, you do not need to worry. Your progression is safeguarded, can be continued, and carried forward towards the next finalization window. Moreover, you can expect more projects to make their appearance, with themes revolving around seasons and events.
Expedition Cycle

To prepare for an Expedition, there will be five steps for you to complete. You will need to collect a selective type of material during your runs, which will help fuel each requirement. These all lead up to the construction of the Caravan. Once this is ready, you will depart in it, leaving everything behind.
| Caravan Tasks | Step | Description | Materials To Collect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Foundation | 1 | Building the base structure and frame of the caravan | Metal Parts – x150 Rubber Parts – x200 ARC Alloy – x80 Steel Spring – x15 |
| Core Systems | 2 | Connecting wiring, ventilation, and essential power systems | Wires – x5 Battery – x10 ARC Alloy – x30 Cooling Fan – x2 |
| Framework | 3 | Building walls and roof, installing core systems, and defining the interior layout | Lightbulb – x5 Battery – x30 Sensors – x6 Exodus Modules – x1 |

This table shall be updated as the final tasks are revealed.
Is Character Reset Worth the Trouble?

So, you must be wondering why even commit to a character reset and risk losing everything you went through the trouble of scavenging. You indeed will, in fact, lose everything. This includes all progress, such as levels, skills, items in your inventory, crafting capabilities, blueprints, and everything else you can think of.
What remains is your pride and achievements as an explorer. All the awards you collect, the rankings you grind hard to find, and the well-earned cosmetics stay safe in your stash. What also remains is the availability of all the maps, traders’ quests, as well as the time you save from skipping the tutorials. But wait, these are just the surface of what you will be rewarded for your sacrifice.
As you complete the ‘Character Reset’, you will have permanent account unlocks for every other Expedition you complete. Moreover, you will earn exclusive cosmetic rewards. These cannot be purchased from the shop or any other means and serve as a walking symbol of your greatness. What also follows is a temporary ‘Account Buff’ for the period of the ongoing Expedition cycle. These will include having Scrappy the Chicken collect more materials for you, an increase in weapon repairs, and extra stash space. So, in summary, the ‘Character Reset’ will give you exclusive outfits, permanent account benefits, and bragging rights.
