Biggest Features Highlighted in NHL 25 Gameplay Trailer
1) Ice-Q
ICE-Q, as unveiled in the gameplay trailer, is the new logic-driven gameplay system that EA Sports is utilizing for NHL 25. It encompasses all of the other features we will be discussing in this article. According to EA Sports, the Hughes Brothers, who are the cover stars for the upcoming game, served as the inspiration behind the ICE-Q system.
Next-Gen Vision Control, Empowered AI, and Reactive Actions were featured as the key highlights of this new system.
2) Next-Gen Vision Control
Next-Gen Vision Control is the name that EA Sports has given to the new and improved skating system in NHL 25. The system claims to provide you with new abilities, improvements, and a more responsive skating mode for both human and AI players.
For instance, if you’re in the offensive zone with the puck, the net will automatically be set as your target as you skate. Meanwhile, when the opponent has the puck and you’re in the offensive zone, your player will automatically target it instead. This system also helps you to always face up to the puck when you’re in defense.
3) Empowered AI
The AI has been completely overhauled in NHL 25, as showcased in the gameplay trailer. AI players are more responsive and aware, while In Zone, strategies like Behind the Net, Overload, and Crash have been completely revamped.
Rush Plays and zone possession have also been reworked so that AI players will react more smartly. AI players, for example, are now better at reading moves and gliding into offensive positions rather than merely rushing the far post.
4) Reactive Actions
Reactive Actions is a new feature in NHL 25, according to EA Sports’ gameplay trailer. This contains collision avoidance animation, which makes players swim past one another and into position seamlessly. This way, they won’t collide or become entangled anymore.
You can also make use of panic turns to change the direction instantly and take away space. Defensive players will stick out their legs to block shots and passes, whereas offensive ones will lower their sticks into passing lanes.
5) Skill Based One-Timers
There’s a new in-game visual indicator that notifies when a teammate is a target for a Skill-Based One-Timer. While passing, enter shot control as soon as the puck reaches the teammate. The timing window is dynamic, based on various factors.
When used properly, the more potent and precise Skill-Based One-Timer will be activated. However, if you fail, the shot accuracy will drop, so this feature serves to increase the challenge.
