The Cryo Freeze mod in Black Ops 7 is a staple ammo mod of the series that has a chance to inflict freeze on enemies and deal extra damage after. The ammo mod can be unlocked after reaching level 12, and can be used to slow down elite enemies or slow down waves to give you more time to reposition. Here’s a quick guide on how you can unlock the Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod in Black Ops 7 Zombies.
Unlocking the Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod
To unlock the Cryo Freeze Ammo mod in Black Ops 7 Zombies, you need to level up your account to 12. The game will automatically reward you with the Cryo Freeze ammo mod, and you’ll be able to equip it for your loadouts. The mod converts your ammo damage type to frost and randomly slows enemies, plus deals more damage to them after inflicting the status. The ammo mod has an equal chance against normal and special zombies, and I generally recommend it for special zombies like the Doppelghast or Ravager.
You can purchase the Cryo Freeze Ammo mod from the Arsenal Machine using salvage currency. Or, through item drops and Gobblegums. You can have your ammo mods equipped for two main weapons and one melee. The Ammo mods are normally used against enemies weak against specific mod types. However, once an ammo mod activates, it enters into cooldown. Currently, there are six ammo mods in the game, unlocked through level progression.
I recommend using the Cryo Freeze mod on guns with high firing rate, like SMGs and LMGs, as their higher bullets will constantly inflict Freeze if you have the Cold Company Augment equipped. However, if you’re just starting out with fewer augments, inflict freeze on enemies, and switch to another ammo mod to deal increased damage. This combo should carry you through most of the early waves.
Augments for Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod
Currently, these augments are present for Cryo Freeze ammo mod in the current Black Ops 7 patch.
Major Augments:
- Big Game: Slows Elite/Special Enemies.
- Ice Cloud: Enemies killed while frozen can leave a cloud that slows other enemies.
- Frozen Stiff: Enemies are frozen in place if the ammo inflicts freeze.
- Cold Company: Cryo Freeze has a small chance to activate on more enemies at once.
Minor Augments:
- Extension: Increase the slow duration inflicted by the mod.
- Freezer Burn: Increases damage to frozen enemies.
- Liquid Nitrogen: Highly increase your chances for Cryo Freeze to activate on enemies.
- Thermal Shock: Enemies get hurt once they’re unfrozen.
