Why Should You Play Solar Titan in Solo PvE?

Solar Titans are the absolute most “tanky” defensible and survivable of all the Titan Builds in Destiny 2.  Bungie continues to buff this playstyle and build and in Lightfall it’s never been stronger.  This is what I used to complete the Lightfall Campaign on Legendary due to its sheer survivability and ad control.  The major downside is it’s lack of speed.  But you can live with being slower if your hammer heals you to full and keeps you in the fight!

ProsCons
Ridiculously survivableAggressive Playstyle
Excellent Damage
Versatile

Build Name Playstyle

If we see an orb of power, we want to pick it up. This will give us armor charge, making our Solar Weapons hit even harder. Killing enemies with our Solar Weapons and Solar Melees generates orbs of power. Throwing Hammer does not go away unless you fail to pick it back up; therefore, we have the capacity to almost infinitely generate orbs of power so long as their are minor enemies around. Throw your hammer at literally everything!

Abilities

Some abilities, aspects and fragments need to be unlocked before use. In order to do that, Destiny 2 players need to visit Ikora in the Tower and do the related quest or purchase them from her. Lastly, if you bought new aspects and fragments don’t forget to “meditate”. Simply click the “meditate” option on the table next to Ikora.

Hammer of Sol

Rally Barricade

Catapult Lift

Solar Grenade

Throwing Hammer

Hammer of Sol – A great all around roaming super, great for clearing adds or for doing a decent amount of damage to a boss. Use this during a situation when you need to clear a space quickly or when you are about to die.

Rally Barricade – Throw this down at the rally point for your damage phases. It will help your team reload faster and offers a modicum of protection. If you are using Loreley’s Splendor, it will also drop a sunspot for you.

Catapult Lift – This really comes down to personal preference, so feel free to flex another lift if you prefer it.

Solar Grenade – I like Solar Grenades for this build as they linger and just can cause a lot of damage.

Throwing Hammer – A ranged ability that you can instantly recharge by picking it up off the ground. Find yourself low on health, throw it at an add to spawn a sunspot for healing. Can also be spammed to do decent damage to bulkier targets. Just a great damage and survivability tool.

Aspects

Roaring Flames

Sol Invictus

Roaring Flames – This pairs really well with our throwing hammers as we can just pick them back up and use them again. It stacks up to three times making our throwing hammers do absolutely amazing damage even with no other buffs.

Sol Invictus – Again this pairs super well with our throwing hammers as we can get those back almost instantly. This paired with Roaring Flames means survival and damage become better at the same time with no trade off.

Fragments

Ember of Torches

Ember of Char

Ember of Wonder

Ember of Searing

Ember of Torches : We are going to be killing lots of enemies with our powered melee (Throwing Hammers), meaning we are going to making ourselves radiant almost constantly.

Ember of Char : Ignitions will be happening a lot, scorching a lot of our enemies.

Ember of Wonder : Ignitions will be happening a lot, generating a lot of orbs.

Ember of Searing : The Firesprites this generates will help ability regeneration.

Killing Wind

Witherhoard – Obtained in Monument to Lost Lights Exotic Archive at the Tower. Huge single target and AoE damage over time weapon. Perfect for trash pulls and boss damage.

CALUS Mini-Tool – A weapon from Season of the Haunted, it can now only be acquired from Banshee-44 or Xur as direct purchases. This weapon is one of the best add clear weapons in the game. Fast firing with a great perk pool. This is a craftable weapon.

Unwavering Duty (Adept) – Obtained in the Trials of Osiris. A power Solar Machine Gun with great utility as both an add clear and a boss damage weapon.

Exotic Armor

Exotic Armor Mod

Loreley Splendor Helm – Preferred Option. Obtained from Legendary Lost Sectors. Helps survive in tough situations.

Synthoceps – Secondary Option. Obtained from Exotic Engrams. A more offensive choice, but we lose out on survivability.
