With a surge of new players joining Elder Scrolls Online, I figured it was time to post on one of the most important parts of character creation, racial passives. In this guide, we’ll cover why it matters, what you can expect, and some power combinations to make sure you pick the right race for you adventure. Welcome to our ESO Racial Passives guide.

Why Race Matters
No this isn’t a political statement, but race matters in ESO! One the faction you pick determines the race you can be (unless you buy the explorers pack). Two, each race has their own unique passives that separate them from other races. Three, matching up a good race with the perfect class can be extremely rewarding. On the other hand, picking a defensive race with an offensive class can suck the fun out of your end game experience. 30 days of game time on my Nord Dragonknight, I wish someone would have told me that.
Luckily, if you’re new to ESO or returning, I’m going to show you the racial passives currently in testing in patch 1.6 and give some examples of some good class/race combos. I will update this guide if something changes, however most of the racial bonuses have remained the same and most are pretty balanced. One of the best things about ESO is that you can literally make ANYTHING work. Yes my Nord Dragonknight was capable of leading my guild in DPS even though I wasn’t a Dunmer (more on that). I could ramble on for another 5000 words, but
Define what’s most important to you in terms of race. Is it a cool looking Orc? A fully min-max Dunmer Vampire Dragonknight? Maybe you want to RP on a Wood Elf. Whatever the case, make sure you know prior to pressing “create character.”

Aldmeri Dominion
[ap_column_wrap] [ap_column span=”2″]High Elf (Altmer)

AD’s finest casters and one of the best in the game, the Altmer. With the addition of the champion system and the removal of soft caps, 10% magicka is an incredible bonus. Not to mention a flat 4% elemental damages make this magic wielder top of the line. My Veteran Rank 14 Sorcerer is a High Elf and I’m glad I picked it early on.
[/ap_column] [ap_column span=”2″]Wood Elf

Patch 1.6 saw a massive buff for the poor Wood Elf. Now they are rocking 21% stamina regeneration and resistance to poison and disease. They are naturals at bows and pair that race with Werewolf 15% stamina regeneration passive, and you have a monster weapon user class. In 1.7 the Wood Elf hasn’t seen any change to the passives so it still makes up a crazy stamina regeneration killer in PvP.
Khajiit

Khajiit’s are the skooma drinking kitty cats that pack a punch. They’re the only race with weapon critical bonus making them another bad arse bow user or melee weapon. The updated 1.7 Robust Constitution passive is a massive upgrade to the 1.6 gaining 10% stamina recovery and losing 10% health recovery. The stealthy passive is the same from 1.6 but is still an awesome killer in PvP and PvE. My VR 16 Nightblade is a Khajiit and he “hits like a truck.”
[/ap_column] [/ap_column_wrap]Daggerfall Covenant
[ap_column_wrap] [ap_column span=”2″]Breton

DC’s magical user that has some unique bonuses. The reduction in cost makes Breton one of the better races for a PvP build. Added some spell resistance and more max magicka, this race is hard to pass up if you’re looking for a human appearance but magicka talents.
Orc

Orc’s are natural tank types with some health and stamina bonuses. The swift passive is unique to this race making it an interesting choice for medium armor users. Pair this will some well-fitted traits, you can seriously zoom around the battlefield.
[/ap_column] [ap_column span=”2″]Redguard

Redguard’s are the Kings (or Queens) of stamina. They make natural weapon based users though tanking with massive stamina regeneration could work well. Consider Redguard if you plan on sustained weapon class.
[/ap_column] [/ap_column_wrap]
Ebonheart Pact
[ap_column_wrap] [ap_column span=”2″]Argonian

Argonian’s are the hippies of ESO and saw a nerf to their potion passive in 1.6. The Amphibious passive gives you a good resource balance with potions which every class uses. Plus the resistance makes them great for PvP.
[/ap_column] [ap_column span=”2″]Dark Elf (Dunmer)

The undisputed choice for Dragonknights, Dunmer are the min-maxers dream. Oh how I wish I could change my Nord to a Dunmer. You are the master of fire paired well with the fire breathing Dragonknight class makes a match in heaven.
[/ap_column] [ap_column span=”2″]Nord

Nord’s make great tanks with the rugged passive but not much else. I choose this race for my VR 14 Dragonknight and the race offers literally nothing for offensive minded characters. Long story short, if you plan on doing damage, look at another race.
[/ap_column] [/ap_column_wrap]Exclusive
Imperial

Imperial’s are the all around best in my opinion. With no soft caps in 1.6, the 10/12% bonuses are powerful. If you’re not sure what you want to do at end game, Imperial is a great choice. You can only pick this race if you have the Imperial Edition upgrade.
Power Combinations
Before I list my go to race/class combos, make sure you have an idea of what you want to do at end game (max level). Not within 10 hours of the game, but 500 hours down the road. Do you want to be a damage dealer, healer, or tank? Do you want something that can fit multiple roles or just one? Think about these things because race does matter in ESO.
If I were to design the ultimate archetypes regardless of faction, this is who’d I have.
Damage (DPS)
- High Elf Sorcerer Lighting Staff – Sorcerers are going to come back with high DPS (start the hate mail now). Once 1.6 gets out, people will be able to rock the pet build and or the Crystal Fragments casting build. Either way, pairing the Sorcerer class with Disintegration passive and Elemental damage makes this combo devastating.
- Khajiit Nightblade Bow – If you want burst and range, take this combo. No one else has 6% weapon critical nor the Nightblade passives. Now that some morphs scale off of stamina, it makes Khajiit Nightblade the go to combo that I plan on using in 1.6.
Healer
- Breton Templar Restoration Staff – Cost reduction is key in healing. Plus a boost to your overall magicka pool makes a Breton a beast healer.
- Argonian Templar Restoration Staff – Potions baby! Yes the original Nightblade Argonian potion combination got nerfed, but out of the ashes has a 6% resource back on potion use. Now you can combine that with potion effectiveness on your jewelry and you will have tons of magicka which is needed for healing.
Tank
- Imperial Templar Sword and Shield – 12% health bonus and Red Diamond for self heals in between blocks make the Imperial Templar a beast. Templar’s have tons of stamina regeneration passively and actively with Restoring Aura. Combine that with Nova ultimate and 10% stamina, you are the rock star tank every group will want.
- Nord Dragonknight Sword and Shield – 6% damage mitigation off the top, the end. The Nord doesn’t have a lot to offer outside of that, but no one else has that type of damage reduction. Combine that with the Dragonknight Crowd Control and buffs, makes a Nord DK a great choice.
Dragonknight
Dunmer – This isn’t original at all, but it’s so effective. Going with Dunmer for massive fire damage while being a Vampire. At end game, you’ll be able to reduce fire damage to a moderate amount just through you racial passive alone. Vampire gives you Super Natural Recovery thus increasing your magicka regeneration by 10%. The DK’s Kindling passive gives 6% damage to fire plus Dunmer Flame Talent are a match made in DPS heaven. And with the removal of soft caps in 1.6, you get an added 9% magicka making Dunmer my #1 choice for damage dealing Dragonknights.
Nightblade
Khajiit – My favorite burst damage combination is a Khajiit Nightblade (One-Shot-Willy). Combine the Master Assassin class passive with Khajiit Stealthy racial for 20% extra damage from stealth. But we can go a couple steps further using the Archers Mind set for an added 15%. Going EVEN further, the Champion System has the Precise Strikes passive that can go up to 15% CHECK. Top that off with a Shadow Mundus stone and you will literally hit like a mac truck. Yes the 1.6 One-Shot-Willy will be fun.
Sorcerer
Breton – Weird choice right? Pair the Magicka Mastery passive with some end game gear via Arch-Mage and Seducers (you can wear both) and you have literally 19% reduction in cost. As a PvP build, I would be able to Bolt Escape out of rough situations, cast my wards for protection and heal when needed. You can truly be a light armor tank if you will. Pump up your spell damage via jewelry and you can cast endlessly. If I could re-roll a Breton Sorcerer for PvP, I would.
Templar
Imperial – Luckily I actually picked the right race for my Templar Big-Jake. As an Imperial Templar, I can pump massive points into magicka because my passive boost to health and stamina give me tons of stats. Or you can pump more into your health and use Blazing Shield as your primary damage source. This is the idea behind Bubble Trouble (yes I’ll rework it). Whether you’re tanking, healing, or doing damage dealing I believe the Imperial Templar the best choice for ALL roles. It’s the jack of all trades class/race choice making it my favorite class for 1.6 (RIP Nord Dragonknight).
I re-rolled my Templar from Nord to Imperial last night 🙂
LOL, oh gosh. Didn’t mean for everyone to reroll, though you’ll enjoy your decision in the end.
Where’s out of the ashes from
Yea, I’m a Nord templar and now I’m depressed lol.
Dang I wished i wouldve gone for a khajiit Nightblade im a vet 2 almost 3 ughhh and a Redgaurd in wanted to be dps not tanky 🙁 i think im gonna reroll should I?
Redguard is great.
Would Redguard work as a Nighblade
It’s one of the best yes.
Redguard is great at sustained melee dps. IMO the only place khajiit tops them is in bursty ranged dps.
Hell no, red guard is a way better Stam NB over kajhiit
Hey deltia i wanna make a bosmer dragonknight magic built you think it would be awesome or suck
Fine for stamina.
LoL I just started my DK Nord and I taught looked cool until I saw your blog reroll o a dark elf hope I will be able to tank with dark elf
With 9% more magicka to self heal and fire resistance, yeah.
BTW Could you tell me for lvling purpose for DK dark elf magika user, if it’s better to lvl up to just all light armor or 4 light / 2 heavy or 4 light / 2 med. Keep the good job btw I absolutely love your videos
I go 5 1/1 so I can get each armor skill.
My VT 14 NB is an Orc. The bonus 6% health and stam is a nice boost on a more tanky NB build. I agree, robust is terrible. That unique sprint ability is one that I LOVE.
With the new speedy buff paired with this and the roll speed from bow I literally FLY across the field in medium armor.
Might be worth another look I see something here.
I have an imperial Dragon Knight. Will that combo work well? I haven’t played in months but may come back later today.
Imperial works great with any class.
What about with a night blade
Tks for all the answer do you think it is feasible to have DK build like the Herald of Xotli of age of Conan, light armor with 2hand sword?
Most likely not. You can do it leveling and having fun, but if you want to do high damage you need medium armor.
have i done wrong to go Argonian as Nighblade ( magicka oriented ) and Breton as DK ( heavy armored with magicka ) ? i like what i did so far , made some nice balance with armors/ornament for magicka / health usage
Those are great combos.
ty sir!
If you do the math HE passives actually out damage DE passives for DK’s as well as any caster, making HE the master caster class for min maxers, not DE. Notice that the DE passive only affects spell damage and not overall damage, while HE affects the total damage done with fire (ice and shock as well). DE has a higher percentage, but only buffs a portion of the damage source (Spell Damage stat) while it ignores scaling with Max Magicka and Base damage. HE increases the entire number, rather than a fraction.
Hey, can you expand on this idea more? I am curious to what would be better for DK
Better than what sorry didn’t think you had a previous comment.
Gilliam is correct here, the High Elf is the best class for any magicka build. The increase for Max Mag, Mag regen, and increase to overall elemental damages makes them a much better race than any other for Magicka builds (especially the DK) the only reason people would choose the Dark Elf over High Elf is if they want to be a vamp, but if you are wanting to do end game, I wouldn’t recommend being a vamp, if you want to do PVP vamp it up.
Nice choices there. Khajiit critical passive sure looks good, but how would you rate Imperial stat gain vs. the crit? All the stealth attack buffs would mainly apply at the beginning of a fight, so for me it seems like the question is 6% crit or (in total) 22% stat gain.
For style however, nothing beats a Khajiit on a Senche Tiger, that’s for sure.
I haven’t played in a long time, pretty much since June of 2014. So I never tryharded with any class. But now, especially since they removing subscription, I definately will come back.
I loved PvE with Templar, his healing potential makes things sooo much easier, even in solo. But now I want to really open up his full potential. Unfortunately I don’t have Imperial Edition, so can you recommend to play it as a Redguard ot Breton, and which is more solid?
What I aslo would like to know, is the race for Nightblade is so important? I’m not hating on Khajiits, but I don’t really like them aesthetically. Is there possible combinations with Wood Elfs, or Redguards for example?
Considering most class abilities are magicka, Breton. For Nightblade Wood Elf more damage Reguards more sustained.
Argonians are born healers also Nighblades , i have Argonian NB an i shall make Argonian Templar thay are born healers 😀 also Bretons are good for healing
Two questions Magick or stamina build for DK dunmer dps? And can tanking with dunmer dk be a good idea? Or is it not effective?
I started a new tank, an Orc Templar, because Orcs with 4 horns are just freaking cool (I like a little roleplay). The charge attack bonus looks fine for me (Stampede, Invasion and Toppling Charge ftw)
I do sometimes wish I went Imperial templar, but whether tanking or stamina dps I would miss my Redguards stamina return on hits.
I wish eso would bring out a character alteration option. change your hair, height even sex. but mostly change racial. It could be done through crown store easy. do you think there is much chance of this in the future? maybe you could ask a Dev nicely for us
I do think there’s a big chance for that. We’ve asked before and it’s something their considering answer. I see it happening with a few months.
Imperial Templar S & B. Is he heavy armor, all attributes into magicka and all enchants magicka or how would you do it ?.
Thanks
I’d go 5 heavy 2 light attributes I don’t really concern myself with more so the numbers I try to reach. 35 health with Radiant Shield would be ideal.
Ok, great. Thank you. Going to try it out today.
For DPS, the elected are High Elf and Khajiit.
For DK, you take the Dunmer Vampire for DPS if I read you correctly.
I’m a bit confused here on what to go with for DPS as per the article.
It’s well written and structered (could use revision lol) but… I was left wondering about those things :s
Your source of info is priceless btw.
Hi deltia’s, soory for my bad englisch but i come from switzerland. I have just one question for you, for create The best pvp 2 Hand weapon templar stamina build redguard are better? Or imperial or an other ??
Imperial for burst, Redguard for sustained.
Hi Deltia.
I was playing as assassin’s class type in Lineage II (Othell rogue), and I want to play with similar style in ESO. So best option for me will be a Nightblade class right?
Honestly I don’t like much a Khajiit, but I want to play as a Nightblade. What other race will be good? Wood elf? Or maybe something else? I will lost much, when I will not play Khajiit?
And second question. Mixing a melee weapon and a bow will be good combination, right? So what kind of melee weapon I should using playing as NB? Dualwield daggers or 1 handed sword with shield (what imo looks not good in assassin class type)?
P.S. Really great blog.
I would suggest Nightblade yes. Wood Elf is absolutely amazing, so is Redguard. Burst damage Wood Elf, Redguard sustained. And yeah, mixing bow/melee is ideal just make sure there both stamina based. For a assassin Nightblade, us daggers because you have a class specific execute (Killers Blade). Don’t worry, I’ll make an absolute rock star Nightblade DPS build soon. 🙂
Thx for answer! So I’m waiting for this build. 🙂
Yeah but Deltia, in the 1.6. the wood elfe is better than the redguard for the regeneration of stamina and pvp no? And, the adrenaline rush have a big impact for the regeneration of stamina for the redguard or not ? Because 21% for the wood elfe it’s just awesome….
And why ”Imperial for burst”??
Sorry for all these questions. And thank you for the time you give to the community .
I think stamina proc for Redguard would add a lot of sustained over a 2 minute fight. But yeah Wood Elf looks amazing. Imperial is the best because of no soft caps. Doing a 5 1/1 armor split on my Templar makes me a literal god of stats. I just like it as a balanced race choice though for those without the Imperial Edition you can go with something else and be just fine.
Deltia I don’t understand why you are saying that Imp is the best race.
Granted it have the biggest health and stamina pool but I don’t see any passives to help to be better melee dps or magika dps all I can see Imp race is great for tanking and great survivability
It’s the most balanced. I don’t have to put any points into stamaina or health if I want to play magicka. I get a so many stats in a game with no soft caps, it’s the best for “general purposes.” That’s what I mean by it. I change my builds so often that a High Elf tank wouldn’t be the best choice though a High Elf DPS would be. I recommend Imperial because you don’t have to reroll to be effective at anything.
Tks a lot Deltia to take your time to answer all our questions
Deltia, so my final question is : what you chose for a stamina templar ( with a lot of stamina regeneration ) a redguard , a Wood elfe , or a Impérial? I have no experience with the pvp in high vétéran level so i come here to speak with a master ;-). And thx you for the Time you take for us.
For regen, probably Redguard though Wood Elf is a strong choice. Imperial in case I wanted to do something else besides stamina.
Soory for double post but a lot of stamina regeneration for survive into a fight for use a lot of time stamina abilities*
Love the site man, keep it up!
What other race would you recommend for a Templar? I already have a v14 Imperial DK and would rather use a different race. Thanks!!
So many honestly. Even Khajiit makes a mean stamina Templar. High Elf for spell damage, anything really.
Deltia just wanted to thank you. I made the Imperial Templar like your Big-Jake and like you said he is a killing machine. I’m only level 11 but I can take on 3 at my level and a level or two above me with no problem. I’m easily killing mobs that I sometimes needed help with before.
I nave 2 accounts. I bought the Imperial Collectors edition when the game released and recently bought the regular Imperial edition. I use the second one as a test and if I like the build I’ll put it on my main edition. I’m a retired widower so I have plenty of time to try things out. I think I’ll try the Breton healer soon.
Thanks again for that build, love it.
Have a great day.
That’s great to hear and glad you feel powerful. That’s the reason I do this type of thing.
At that low of a level, you really cant tell much of a difference between races. You have what, one racial passive? Anyway, deltia, i appreciate all your hard work and the time invested. I rolled an imperial everything and have had a blast making an imperial sorc tank with healing passives from dark magic. 35% max hp on the clanfear makes a nice heal when i switch weapons to a bar without summons. Built high health with some stam, 2hnd for the bubble and momentum.
Hey Deltia I was just wondering, why is redguard king of stamina if bosmer got better stamina regen? I am actually playing a redguard NB atm and I never realized bosmers got that much regen. Would you say that to utilize my choice of race the most I should try to specialize either in some kind of tank build with sword and board or a 2H (due to the stamina back on hit). Does that racial change in 1.6 or it stays 262 stamina per 3 seconds? If so that sounds rather useless… Opinion?
Both are good, though if you’re constantly attacking, the Redguard might have an advantage. Just depends, the “always on” factor vs beating on something. PvP/PvE really determines what’s better IMO. 262 will add up over a long fight.
Thanks for the response, so I suppose going tanky would be preferable for my choice of race although not especially good in the 1.6 meta it seems so far… Thoughts?
Tanky, Redguard dodge roll boss.
Hi Delta, may I have your thoughts on why a Khajit night blade instead of a woodelf for 21% stamina regen or an imperial with 10% max stamina?
Reason being that sneak only works at the start of fights and the 6% critical bonus is Easily negated by a piece of impenetrable gear during end game Pvp. This renders the carnage passive useless doesn’t it?
In 1.6, Imp doesn’t have near the effectiveness and Khajiit makes great for PvE where NPCs have zero resistance. Though the other choices are great for sustained and damage just a 6% critical race is amazing advantage IMO.
Thanks Deltia! Another question.. does the 6% work on bows?
Yes it’s weapon damage.
hey, thanks for the tips. I use a Orc Sorc dual and a little tired of it. I will test a templario imperial, since I never played with the class. like a character who fights well and defend well, I think this is the way. thanks.
Alright, thanks a lot man. 🙂
Sounds like the only horrifying build in 1.6 would be a magicka based Wood Elf
Im gonna be starting the game soon and am set on a NB, been doing research and cant decide on race, id like to focus on siphon/healing and leaning towards altmer…but id like to be able to respec same character and be a normal rogue style assassin, would that race still be viable or would something like wood elf/khajiit be better to bounce between styles?
Basically i guess would stamina bonuses be better for a magic user over magic bonuses being better for a stamina user?
Argonian…..6% back on drinking a potion and ultimate. Best of both and it looks cool.
re: Weapon Damage mechanics. Could you explain how Max. Stamina factors into DPS performance?
I have been playing Redguard NB (vampire) as my main since launch and enjoy it, but I am looking to fine tune my build for better DPS and survivability in both PVE and PVP.
I am currently running 6 Medium 1 Light. My gear is 4 Night Mother’s Touch and 5 Hunding’s Rage (with Daggers) or 5 Night Mother’s and 3 Hundings with Bow. My DW weapon damage is softcap +17. My DW Crit is 60-70 without pots. Bar 2 I use Night Mother’s Bow or alliance Bow + 2 Rings and my crit stays around 50. I almost never run out of stamina during long fights and out of combat stam regen is amazing, even though I did not go full Health/Stamina build.
All that being said, It seems that my DPS is not where I expect it should be and I feel I am missing something. Suggestions for redguard NB in 1.6?
I honestly don’t know the math behind this. I think we talked on stream today?
Hey Deltia, would an Orc Templar be better than a Nord Templar? This is for a more a healer support tank role.
Also I’m assuming in 1.6 a Templar Ranged DPS Archer class would now suit a Wood Elf more than it would suit a Orc?
Under Wood Elf you mention the 15% stamina bonus from Werewolf skill line. However I can’t find this stamina buff in the werewolf skill tree any where. Whassup Deltia…Luv the site btw.
They removed that passive now 🙁
Hey Deltia, I was wondering would an Orc Templar be better than a Nord Templar? This is for a self healing tank role.
Also I’m assuming in 1.6 a Ranged DPS Archer Templar class would now suit a Wood Elf more than it would suit Orc?
Almost anything would be better than a Nord 🙂 Just depends on what you want to do, the sprinting passive makes Orc interesting. I’d go with Bosmer (Wood Elf) if you plan on being a DPS.
Do you feel that the removal of softcaps or the new adjustments will give some races slight advantages or disadvantages in certain roles? for instance before, being able to juggle around a stamina race and pump points into magicka to reach both softcaps as opposed to now, not being able to keep up with races who have passives more suited to a particular resource? for example trying to reach the same amount of health/stam as an imperial as any other race? or trying the opposite for stamina on say a high elf? i really like your info and ultimately am trying to decide between a more magicka friendly templar as an orc or an imperial and it seems as though imperial has more counterbalance to put more points safely into magicka. sorry for long post, i appreciate any info as im spread sheeting myself in circles.
Not slight, huge. I honestly would like no racial bonuses because it’s a crazy difference. Imperial > almost everything else but Dunmer.
For those who don’t have imperial…. would Redguard Templar be a suitable substitute?
Oh yeah, Redguard, Wood Elf or even Dunmer would work.
Would a Argonian DPS templar work?
Ok, Should I go
Argonian DPS Templar OR Argonian DPS Nightblade.
Argonain NB.
Anything can “work” just like my Nord DK. Will it be the best, no.
I’m doin a Argonian dragon knight, why because it doesn’t matter and screw your ‘these don’t go well with this’ post.
Actually I roll an Argonian Dk tank and it’s surprisingly effective. My guild mate that rolls a healer noted this as well. The increased incoming heals from team mates and your own DK abilities plus potion trait makes this toon rather hard to kill. Not necessarily optimal but not shabby either.
Yeah Argonian’s are underdog races for sure.
Deltia I’m working on my Dark Elf DK. I’m basically using your Shooting Star build but with a Dark Elf. Just turned 16 and I was wondering if I should stick to your destro staff build as first and second weapons or with the 1.6 release should I change to something else for the second bar, healing maybe. Did 1.6 affect the build much ?.
Can you tell me if 1h shield Templar dps is any viable?
If so, which race should i pick for it? (don’t have the money for imperial)
If not, could you tell me which melee weapon is best for melee templar DPS?
Not really to be honest. I’d probably go Redguard, Wood Elf or Dunmer.
Love your guides and videos, one question, what is better for a Sorcerer now, High-Elf or Breton? Mostly for PvE, not so much PvP.
High Elf for damage in PvE by far.
hi deltia thinking of makin g a orc nb any thoughts on this would be most appreciated thankyou for all the great videos watched every eso one u doing and always check youtube for new vids keep up the great work buddy 🙂
Hello Deltia I was thinking to make a sorcerer bow stamina build with wood elf and use pet like a ranger class. Do you think it is viable combo?
Thank you
Are the stamina and health bonus for the imperial race more effective than the stealthy passive for wood elves and khajits?(for a dps based nightblade class)
Well Wood Elfs have more stamina regeneration so sustained no, and Khajitts have more critical so maybe.
Do you think they’ll ever make Nords good or is ZOS just ignore the fact that they are underpowered. I think swapping Robust for Brawny would be a good move.
Yeah, I complain everyday on stream about it and talk with developers. They’ll make it something god like in the future probably.
I’m stuck between Dunmer & Khajiit for my NB. I like the balance Dunmer brings, and the fact that you get both Magika and Stamina bonuses. I also like the fire resist which will make Vampiring a lot easier. I just worry that I’m gimping myself by not going Khajiit for the stealth passive & Crit bonus. Any opinion on this? I plan to run your specter build, and try a vampire syphon build later.
Dunmer is overall better IMO because of fire resist. Health recovery does nothing for you.
And if I wanted to look at it the other way around – first choose race (because I like this or that better) and fit it then with best class for this race?
For example – I really like Bosmer (Wood Elves) and I would like to know which class/ weapon fits them best?
Also you didn’t cover Orcs (2nd best for me) – what class/weapon should I choose if I decided playing one?
Other than that – great guide, it’s both thorough & clear 🙂 No unnecessary clutter/ ranting & all explained well 🙂 Thanks!
I’d go Nightblade with Bosmer. Orc….nothing 🙂
hi Deltia…a question… i got my Imperial Sorcerer 30…is good to stay with that in future?
hugs
thx for help
How do you feel about Dunmer/Vampire NB? The extra magicka from passives can help with off healing while the negate fire helps with vampire weaknesses while I still get the vampire bonuses
Amazing good
Imperial is amazing for any build, yes.
Hear me out, this is the build I’d like to accomplish: A stamina based Templar DPS using Two Handed on main bar, 2nd bar would be either a bow or dual wield (what would be best?) I want to output high damage either up close or from afar.
This is for Min/Maxing and I have Min/Maxed all other races and I don’t want to double up on races. What would be the best race to choose for this Stamina Templar DPS build out of the following races; Nord, Orc or Argonian?
Your probably wondering why these awful races but they hese are the 3 last races I have available for my last toons build. Personally I was leaning more to the Orc race for these reasons: Orc Swift passive means I can zoom accross the battlefield and increase damage on charge attacks which I believe compliments the Two Handed charge skill very well. Robust to increase my survivability when charging into a fight as well as Heavy Armour passive means I’m a tough nugget right? Probably go 5 heavy to medium. Lastly, the Orcs Brawny passive increases max health AND stamina by 6% to round off what I hope can be a Templar DPS machine.
Why is robust so bad? Having a high regen on hp seem pretty powerful to me.
HP regen is one of the worst things in the game. You can self heal for 33 percent of your missing health as a DK, health regen is worthless.
Deltia? I went for a character that were to be good in tanking for pvp and pve. I wonder if you could give some suggestion on my build and if there are better then this build for pvp+pve.
Tank pve and pvp
Nord -> sorc-> daedric summoning + one hand and shield
all spells and the ultimate form daedric summoning on the bar eksept “daedric curse”. that leads 1 slot left for the “ransack” (a morph of the puncture).
This character are to let ist minions fight for him while he taunt them. Or in pvp i use “heroic slash” to gain ultimat.
Thank you for your suggestion
In pvp is heath regeneration important or should I focus more on stam. I would like to make a redguard or wood elf tank with WW. I can care less about pve also. Also what class would complement these two races for pvp tanking?
No, you can easily heal yourself, you want stam/mag regeneration to stay alive not health.
So, I have never played a game like this before, but my friend and I are gonna start playing and I would really like to not embarrass myself, does anyone have some good hints? I would like to be a wood elf I think, advice please?
I have many many hints, best thing is to watch the racial video which will give you a better idea.
I really want to see them do something for wood elves. I find it off putting that Khajit is the optimal bow user over them.
I really like the look of wood elves and their size but it doesn’t look like you recommend them for anything.
Well they now have massive stamina regen.
I got an wood elf nightblade around lvl 15 – if i want to optimize my damage (later in the game) should i play an khajit – is it worth it?
btw great website – keep it up!
– I want to use your specter nightblade build –
Keep the wood elf, its great at end game for stamina regeneration now.
Okay – thanks for the answer 🙂
sry for double posting!
Hi, i got an wood elf nightblade around level 15 if i want to optimize my damage (later in the game) should i play an khajit? is it worth it?

Hi Deltia,
I heard people speak about the Imperial passives getting changed in some way at some point. I’m planning on playing a dk, most of the time stamina I guess, sometimes magicka and sometimes even tank for fun. So my question is, is a dunmer dk even viable as stamina dps in terms of endgame PvP and even completely min-/maxed pve?:)
Kind regards Zayn
I haven’t heard anything, but anything is possible.
And what would you say to a stamina dunmer dk? In terms of min-/maxing viable?
Very viable, but Imperial is going to get you huge numbers.
And just to clarify it for me:) how well does a magicka imperial do?:)
Good because 12% health affords you tons of magicka.
I opted to go Imperial rather than Khajit as a traditional burst DPS rogue type due to Red Diamond.
I want my character to be able to inflict as much damage as possible while leeching health back, which Siphon + Red Diamond seem to offer.
But what exactly is the viability of a build like that, and how much less damage would I be inflicting compared to a Khajit Nightblade?
You’ll be getting more with Imperial for max stamina.
First off, thank you with all the videos, been very helpful with easing me into a very complex game unlike the one im used to playing. im looking to build a character (more for fun pvp, and soloing) that is going to be kind of like a fury/arms warrior in WoW. mostly weapon based/sta attacks with class specific mixed in, So i believe i should go NB because DK has a lot of “magic” looking spells. that being said if Sta is my main source of “power” should i go Redguard or Imperial? is the 2 stam regen passives to good to pass up on the Redguard or will i be better off with the just 10% increase to my sta pool, 12% to health and the chance to self heal? like i said this guy is for fun, probably be for pvp, though i do know this is not an optimal “spec”. and please dont say both are good, im not good at making decisions.
Go Imperial
and since i dont mind having certain toons for certain needs (altaholic) if i was going to roll a class using a bow as my main source of dps, once again its for fun, not optimal builds, what race and class, though im guessing NB, would you go with?
thank you in advance btw
Bosmer NB OP.
Hello deltia coming back to eso after they dropeed the subscription and i wanted to make a nb but not sure what races would be better from what ive read here khajit redguards and wood elfs are the way to go. so my question is what race would be better of all the races i pre-ordered imperial ed that came with the explorer pack so picking race based on alliance isnt a problem…btw i enjoy your stream on twitch
Well I’d go Imperial since all around you can’t beat the more health stamina combo.
Hello I am coming back to eso and I wanted to ask with the butcher build I’m rolling Imperial and curious where did you put your stat points stam, mag, and health.
Hi! I love tour vídeos!
Redguard or Imperials for stamina build DK? Why?
Imperial no softcaps.
Hi. I was wanting to make a 2handed sorcerer DPS mainly to use in PVE. Was kinda thinking a race strong in stamina and stamina regen but then thought maybe go with Breton for the magika stats and gear and put points in to stamina to balance out. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
If you’re using stamina for damage, than go Bosmer or Imperial.
Thanks!
First, I think you do a really good job here. Now my question is if it would be a really bad idea to try a khajit templar for tanking? (I just love the way they look).
Hi Deltia, I recently made an imperial DK with the intention of going two handed dps, but now im considering going magicka dps as well. Unfortunately I saw your video a bit too late and did not consider going Dunmer at first. Now I’m just wondering how viable is it for imperial to go magick dps? will the damage be not competitive in end game dps?
Thanks alot!
Hi Deltia,
Quick question,
I want to make a sorcerer, but i am stuck on which race to pick.
The two i have chosen are Breton and Altmer, but i can not decide between the two.
At endgame i would like to focus mainly on PvP, but still be viable in PvE.
I also would like to be able to duel wield and use a bow.
Thanks in advanced.
If your focus is PvP than Breton. If you want to use weapons for damage dealing, I wouldn’t pick either races.
Hi Deltia
One Question, i want to play a nightblade Tank – Witch Race would you recommend – except imperial?
Maybe Argonian for self-healing bonus as NB don’t have a burst self heal within their skills.
Thanks for the answer!
Hi!
First off, I would like to say your guides and everything are amazing. You are one of the reasons that got me to play this beautiful game. I just wanted to ask if a stamina based khajiit sorc would be a good choice? And what if I decide that later in game I wanna go magicka?
I would like to hear your thoughts on that.
Thank you and have the best day. Oh and sorry if my english is a bit bad, it not my primary language. 🙂
No, Khajiit doesn’t have any stamina pool increase nor resources, Bosmer or Imperial are much better choices IMO.
Hi Deltia!
Thank you very much for your reply.
Hey Deltia, excellent article. What is the best class for nightblade? Khajiit still a good choice or are Bosmer and Redguard much better now? What would be the best class choice and build for a Khajiit in 1.6? Also do you think Altmer Dragonknights are good?
Khajiits took a major hit in 1.6 and need rebalanced. Best class? Well there isn’t one, some excel at certain things some don’t. Bosmer is a much better choice than Khajiit. I’d go Dunmer DK over Altmer.
Thanks for the reply Deltia, that’s a shame about the khajiits as they look really cool. I’ll still make one but he’ll be an alt unless they get buffed.
I’m going DC Imperial Dragonknight (Stamina Tank) and Redguard Nightblade (Stamina DPS), AD Altmer Sorcerer (Magicka), EP Dunmer Dragonknight (Magicka) and either Templar Altmer (Damage)/Breton (Healer) I’ll will see which I enjoy more. I’ll be playing on PS4 🙂
Hi Deltia’s how are you?
Sorry for my bad englisch i’m french ^^
I would like to begin a new stamina Dk (Very powerfull i think) but you think the best choice for the race was Redguard, imperial, Boosmer? or an other?
Imperial will hit harder, bosmer will have more sustained. Either is optimal.
Hi Deltia
This is what I have now:
High Elf Sorcerer
Dark Elf Dragonknight
Wood Elf Nightblade
Breton Templar
Imperial Templar
Who would you keep and who would you change ?.
I’m thinking the first three are ok. Which Templar would you keep?.
Honestly looks like the perfect setup. I’d keep Breton Templar for magickal healing which is what they’re optimized to do. You could go with Imperial Nightblade for more damage, but Wood Elf is beast.
1. Imperial Dragonknight
2. Altmer (High Elf) Sorcerer
3. Breton Nightblade
4. Imperial Templar
5. Redguard Nightblade
6. Dunmer (Dark Elf) Dragonknight
7. Altmer (High Elf) Templar
8. Bosmer (Wood Elf) Sorcerer
This is how I’ve currently set out my 8 characters.
Looks like we kind of think alike. I have more than 4 but I want to have good ones for when we start with PS4.
You watching some DG vids huh?
If it wasn’t for Deltia’s vids I’d be total nub cake with a magicka Orc build. 😛
#orchate
Hey, awesome guides btw. I’m totally set on playing Templar as my first class. I would Ike to do a stamina does build. Ilike argonian, but don’t know if it would be good ?
Argonian isn’t the best choice, but you can make anything work if you want.
Do you think that a Bosmer dps NB with bow would be a good combo?
Yes
So, Argonians barely mentioned nor played per these comments. Nords and Orcs totally ignored as good for anything and my poor Khajiits crippled. What a shame Zenimax cannot figure out better racials to entice players to play these other races in better numbers and class mixes.
hi deltia , still loving the site and many thanks for all the help it’s given me.
basically, I would like your advice on a stamina pvp build. I plan imperial nightblade for longevity but would you go 2 handed or dual wield. my second weapon would be bow. I’m not fully sure of pvp stamina nightblade so any help appreciated. thank you
Hey Deltia,
I feel like a challenge. So I’m going with a stam based dps Templar… With an Argonian!
I’ll be rocking full med armour. Two hand and bow.
Do you have any advice? Or should I just quit already? Lol
LOL, Argonians aren’t that bad but my Blazing Harvester might give you some ideas on where to start.
Hello Deltias, I am planing on playing the game as a dragonknight tank with ultimate survivability. What race would you choose? Should I go with Orc or Nord? and also should I use sword and board on both as primary and secondary? I just want to be able to be a solid tank that my group can benefit off of. I have watched some vids of your nord DK tank and I see you use a resto staff.
Dunmer DK, I soloed up to stage five Dragonstar Arena. Check out the Yoloknight for details.
Ok I’m getting this game for the ps4 when it comes out n want the best possible dps. Which race would I want to choose, high elf sorcerer when destruction staff?
Hey Deltia, what do you think the best race would be for a PvP orientated Templar healer/support class, that does ranged high damage ranged dps via stacking Structured Entrophy, Dark Flare, and maybe Reflective Light or Jesus Beam at end game, that could still hold its own if engaged in close combat, not necessarily charging in. I was thinking Breton, but would managing Stamina for break-frees, dodge rolls, and blocking be a problem at end game? Would I need to rock an Arena set and dump CP into stamina ability managment perks? Or would you just recommend another race all together? I kind of like the idea of healing and buffing because it seems like easy AP, but I don’t want to get stun locked and get stomped. I know this is pretty specific but hey, at least i know what role I want right? Thanks (An afterthought: would a Dark Elf Vampire do better at this kind of thing, or would I need to use alot of the Vampire abilities to make it even worth it? I’m pretty sure all of my damage will be Magic Damage so the Flame damage wont matter much, I know the 6% Stamina would help, but it’s hard to give up reduced Spell Cost and Spell Resist) Sorry for the long, annoying comment but I’m really stuck on what race would be best for this role end game.
Hey Deltia, been following you now for a few weeks. Wish I’d found you sooner. So I have a dilemma regarding my next character. I have a High elf templar I plan on running as a healer/dps end game. I’ve spent a fair bit of gold to level riding skills, but I haven’t leveled very much. Do you think its worth it to reroll breton for the extra reduce cost for end game, or just continue with the high elf and use your Omega Templar build to level? It’s been hard to find solid, fact based theorycrafting on reduced cost vs regen and if diminishing returns affect racials.
I would honestly stick with High Elf. It’d be the optimal damage dealer.
Don’t know if my comment stuck but I’d probably just stay with High Elf.
Hey! What do think would be the best race-class combo for PvE gameplay?
Hello Deltia
Im Doing my char list:
1-High Elf+Sorcerer
2-Wood Elf+Night Blade
3-Dark Elf+Dragon Knight
4-Khajiit+Night Blade
5-Argonian+Templar
6-Imperial+Templar
7-Nord+Dragon Knight
8-Orc+Night Blade
What do you think about it? you change something here ?
Hey Deltia,
I am planning on creating a character using an Imperial for my race. I have some ideas for what I think would be a good class build to compliment the Imperial, and was wondering on what you thought was the best idea.
Templar-with this class I was going for the “Jack-of-all-trades”. I would focus on my health and stamina attributes, and use a sword and shield for close up and a bow for range, heavy armor for survivability, and focuses on the aedric spear line and the healing line.
Dragonknight-even though the dark elf gets more damage with fire based attacks, its just hard to give up the imperial’s massive health and stamina boost. With this class, I would go for a tank, heavy armor and sword and shield, and besides the obvious defensive abilities, my plan for offence would be using dragon talons to trap enemies, ash cloud to damage them, and extended chains to keep them in the area of affect with me.
Nightblade-the imperial health boost, with their red diamond’s healing ability, paired with the siphoning trees health stealing and healing abilities just to me sounds like a character that will never die. The plan would be to become the ultimate tank, focus on health and using my health stealing abilities and healing so that my health just never seems to diminish. The only draw back I foresee with this class is a lack of dps, but the survivability would mean that I would just simply outlast everyone I’m fighting.
I have kinda played as all three of these ideas, but the problem is I don’t really have the time to get all three into the late game where it all really counts. I was wondering what you thought was best with your expertise in the game and late game aspects. In case it helps with the decision, I plan on doing both PvE and PvP with the same character.
Thanks in advance for any feedback! Love the sight and videos!
I’d probably go with Breton Templar.
Hi Deltia , little question if im looking for better magician for PvE and PvP.
Better for PvE: High Elf+Sorcerer
Better for PvP: Breton+Sorcerer
This are right?
Hey Deltia, Been watching your vids for a few months now, best ive seen on ESO, I wanna rock Imperial templar, I’m still deciding what i should put all my points in to, stamina and health, or magic and health?
What are some good things i can run as an Argonian?
Self heal and potions.
You may have explained this in a video of yours or may not even be able to give an accurate answer per say as it could be a personal opinion &/or fact, but which race would you say would works best for a PvP Nightblade purely from Racial Passives?
Just realised how noobish my question was sorry, only played the BETA for a bit and will be playing it on Xbox. Was thinking of creating a PvP Nightblade, a PvP/PvE DK (Your Laceration Build) and a PvP or PvE Templar…. I have also ordered the Imp. Edition. Could you suggest what builds/races I should use for NB & Templar?
Hey Deltia I’m debating on creating either a high elf sorcerer or a khajiit nb. For a dps character which do you think will be better at end game for pve n pvp?
I have the exact same scenerio. Thank You for any insight you can give.
How do you reroll a toon?
When you reroll a toon you delete him and start over. If you mean how do you reset all your stats then you go to Elden Root in Grahtwood and reset them there.
thanks
Hi Deltia,
With 2 friends, we intend to buy ESO and play together (xbox one).
Since they are not familiar with MMO games, i agreed to play as a tank (even if i like better DPS classes).
So what race (except the imperial which i won’t have) would be a good fit for a tank? i thought of redguard or nordic maybe
Thank you
hey Deltia, i was watching your best race and class video, and i was wondering if the specter build will be as effective if using Wood elf instead of Khajiit? for pvp (mainly) and leveling/Pve end game…..
Yes a Wood Elf would be definitely a lot more effective than Khajiit now but as he said best race and class video, Imperial race is number 1 if making a Stamina based Nightblade, Wood Elf race is number 1a. The choice is yours to make.
You have made me change my mind i was gona go orc templar tank but think I will go with imperial now instead still think the orc is much cooler looking
Wow thanks that really helps…. I can’t go wrong either way…..
I must roll Nord… but how? when all I see is hate and lack of build info on them through out the interweb…. would a Nord Templar slaying with sword&shield/two handed and bow really be a horrible idea ? Are they really such a bad choice for character ? I’m coming from skyrim and am dying to try out this role-play-mmo online craziness for the first time, I love the idea of diving into character and exploring , joining large groups and so on, But I would love to stick with my heritage, connection with character is key. but I don’t want to get slaughtered every time I start the game up and considering I don’t know much about this style game play this all seems like a major choice. Any advice ? (ps4)
I would say go for Nord. As much as I respect Deltia I feel there are so much factors that can improve your Nora, like passives, mundus stones, and enchantment. You should play the game the way you would like to. I can say from my personal experience with my Nord Dragonknight, that they can be beefed up with good dps damage and tanking, a bit of both. I have a two handed weapon and use Momentum and paired up with flames of oblivion, it serves pretty well in pvp and especially pve.w
Hey Deltia, first, thanks for all these tips (videos, articles, links ect.)
How important is it to use the weapon that your specific race gains more experience from?
For example, Dunmer receives 15% more experience when using dual wield.
Hey Deltia, I was thinking of making a Dunmer Nightblade since they have the Magicka and Stamina but I’m kind of hesitant. Any advice?
I have a dunmer “dark elf” night blade. And I love her.
Meant Deltias** >.<
I was wanting to make a tank class that also does a lot of damage. my choice of items would be duel wield and heavy armor.
Hey deltia, I can not decide weather to pick dk dunmer vampire or your omega Templar two beam build. Please give advice which would be better to pick for a new comer on xbox one.
Hey guys, I’m new to ESO, and after watching several videos, I’m planning on creating a Dark Elf DragonKnight. I was just curious as to how the factions work. Would it be unwise to create a character within every faction or better to dedicate yourself and all your characters to a specific faction? I will have the explorers edition to be able to choose any race with any faction, but I was curious as to what the limitations were. Would I be able to acess my bank on different factioned characters or is it completely separate? Thanks for your time, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
The bank is crossed on all your accounts. As far as playing a toon in every faction well that’s is going to get several opinions. But it really is up to you. I have 8 toons in all 3 factions. I play all classes and most races. But I don’t mind playing like that. However some will argue a valid point. If you want to master one class then you should stick to one or two toons. Of the same class. There is no right answer in my opinion to this. It’s your game play it as you want. Just know what you want to do before let’s you make an orc sorcerer or a nord nightblade. That is unless you just want to play the game and don’t care much about the end game.
Deltia, i wish i knew about you at launch. I have 8 toons most of which i love. However i have a toon that i quit playing and i need some serious advise from the guru himself. I have a low level 15 wood elf Templar. At first i was going tank so i figured the passives would be descent. But after playing i really want to go healer. I wouldn’t mind rerolling for an imperial. However as dumb as this might sound I’ve been feeding the horses on all my toons whether i play them or not. Well i got 37 speed and 10 capacity on my mount. So should i stick it out and play my wood elf as a healing Templar or reroll with an imperial. I don’t want a tank anymore so there is my delima. I’ve searched the Web and talked to several people some say yes i should reroll if i want to be a healer others say in fine. With so much garbage and misleading info I’m not sure what to do but feed my horse until i get an intelligent answer. I don’t expect that the wood elf be the most amazing healer. But when I get to end game I want something I won’t regret sticking with.
If you want to be a powerful end game healer, consider starting a Breton over a wood elf. The difference is significant.
lets see if you’ll delete this post as well without a reason why.
Huh?
Will you ever make a video with the redgaurd race? I’d like to see a good use for that race.
I don’t have any specific videos regarding one specific race. No plans on doing that in the future.
hey Deltia I was wondering which class and race should i go for a dps sorce or Nb build I am trying to do both PvE and PvP thanks
Bosmer or Imperial.
You shouldn’t change your character because someone tells you it’s not good enough you should make the character however you want I’m currently making a khajiit tank and I’m not gonna reroll my guy for a Orc or imperial I feel imperials are op and should be nerfed, but either then that play with what you like or you will end up rerolling again and again and again
If you wanted to make a templar a caster would a dark elf still be a good choice
Mine is and I enjoy it.
Deltia, I’m a big fan of your videos for eso and they are a great help. I’ve tried a few different things but I need some advice. I really love playing an archery or ranger type of class, but I don’t wanna be sneaking around. I like more the mobile fast past style archer. What class would you recommend that would work well with this?
Dragonknight Wood Elf would be great. Because you can reflect projectiles.
I played around with archery and wasn’t a fan for the first time in an elder scrolls. So I’ve decided magicka. Destruction staff. Restoration as seco dary But I’m torn, I know I wanna play breton but would you recommend the sorc or templar for me to play though all of the games content. Ps I don’t always have friends to play with so survivability is a must. Did I just anewer my own question? Would that be templar?
I like Templar Breton but both can be fun. Ones more solo pvper (sorc) while other is more group oriented Templar.
Trying to decide between a Siphon Nightblade Tank, or a Templar tank. Not sure on anything. Race, build, all of it. I know you’re preference is the imperial race, and it sounds awesome, but i dont have the money for it at the moment. Any and all advice would be very much appreciated.
PvP Nightblade tanks rock.
I’m curious, after reading all of this, I rolled a Redguard DK ( Planning to Tank end game, hopefully ) Have I made a mistake with this?
That’ll work great.
Hey Deltia I rolled a High Elf Templar Healer should I reroll to a Breton or Argonian or will I be happy with end game result I’m level 24 now so would like to know asap lol thank you
Best nightblade tank that can also deal magic dps endgame?
The Imperial Red Diamond perk – how effective is it? I’m thinking about an Imperial Nightblade, dual weilding. Faster weapons (ie daggers) mean more procs? As a passive heal, it would let me focus elsewhere. Thanks!
Decent and daggers do not swing faster.
Hey Deltia!
Would like a quick opinion, if you don’t mind. What race / class combo would you suggest for someone wanting to play the game mostly from a melee and magic standpoint (perhaps with a little bow and arrow thrown into the mix)? Generally prefer heavy armour, sword and shield or 2-handers. Also prefer to have ability to solo 75% of the time but be able to do dungeons with groups at higher levels.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
Two thoughts I forgot to convey:
1. I have access to Imperial class.
2. Any suggested builds would be great as well!
Thanks!
Magicka, heavy armor and two hander aren’t combinations that I recommend or use so I honestly don’t know. I usually don’t mix the two.
Hey I am nee to the game and I was thinking of being a healer templar with the ability to do some solo dps as well. How would i do this?
Check out the ESO Battery here https://youtu.be/thgGvHfsOmA
Hey, I know you have answered similar questions to this. But I still don’t understand after reviewing this page. I plan on playing as a 2H DK stam w/ bow off hand. With a focus on PVP. I would like to play as a Nord or Dark elf. Would the fire bonus still help if I’m rolling with stam? Would the rugged trait be better sense its pvp? Thanks alot for all your answers by the way I read alot that were very helpful already.
Yes because some abilities in your class skill line do fire damage. Rugged is good but without the lack of resources it’s tough. However, Nords will be getting a buff soon so who knows.
What’s so bad about the Robust passive, it seems fine to me?
It’s the weakest in the game in terms of performance.
Hey delta,
A huge fan! I recently got the game and made a wood elf NB. I’m currently dual wielding weapons and want to be the stealthy one shot kill type of player. Is this a good choice with the wood elf? Where should I be putting my attribute points? Stamina or magicka? Any other recommendations ?
Yes go all stamina.
First off let me say you’ve created an amazing resource for both new and veteran gamers in regards to ESO. On to my question: I’ve been going back and forth on a NB build running bow and dual daggers and I’m torn between Wood Elf or Khajit, I get the basic principal of the crit burst does vs sustained from stamina regen but could you maybe expand on this particular point a bit more? Thanks in advance!
Khajiit is getting a buff, but Wood Elf is superior at this point in the game. Pick what you want to be, it’ll work it’self out later.
Hi Deltia, thank you, for all you guides and Insightful here, I have a little question, If I looking tank and i not have imperial edition, you recommend Nord+DK or Red Guard+DK ?
Dunmer DK, powerful due to mag/stam and fire resist.
Hi, love your articles. Im new to MMO and ESO, but am really enjoying it so far. Im playing on PS4 and have been building a Nord Templar which seems to be doing great for Solo play and Dungeons. Im not the biggest fan of Magic and I want to use either a Nord or Orc. Im a bit of a lone gamer but want to be competitive at end game as well. So far Im using mostly stamina based melee attacks and have allocated one slot for the first healing skill, which allows me to heal myself and 2 other teammates. This is letting me play 98% solo and was extremely useful in dungeons, without dying even once so far. Ive got lower stam cost on my jewellery and increase stam on my armour. I only use magic for healing, most of my attribute points go to health, and I also use health potions or health/magic potions. Im using 2h Mace. Im at lvl 22 so Im wondering if this build will still be useful at end game? Im worried I haven’t concentrated on any one style enough such as DPS or Tank. But at the same time, I want to be true to myself, which is mostly Solo play and warrior based. Can you tell me if Nord or Orc would be better in the long run? I first tried an Orc Dragonknight, but I really don’t like the magic based abilities and especially the dragonblood animations, so Ive switched to a Templar Knight. Im a bit old school with that type of thinking, and used to play Demon/Dark Souls quite a lot which is good for my playstyle. Any advise would be much appreciated, and sorry for the long post its just I keep going around in circles reading articles.
Well both races just got a buff in ESO Live yesterday. I think you’d be better off sticking with Nord.
Hey guys, so I got a Dunmer Templar to level 16 and decided to re-roll because I wouldn’t be able to take advantage of the flame talent racial (as a tank). I just recently got my new Breton Templar to level 26 and I’m wondering again if this was the right choice. As a magicka based tank, will this work?
What do you class do recommend for Redguard for lvling and endgame PvE? I’ve seen lots for other races but almost nothing for Redguard. I’m focused on solo play and need a class that would support Stam base but still utilize self-heals.
Nightblade Bow user Specter build.
Hey deltia I rolled a dark elf DK vampire. Is this a good build for end game? I’m really liking the vampire right now but don’t know if this is the right build for it I’m lvl 21 now using destruction staff on both bars any suggestions? I thought you had a vampire build with this setup but can’t find it anymore.
Yes it’s what I use.
Thank you, I appreciate it.
Hi Deltia
I wanted to know what you feel the best PvP Sorcerer race is? Breton or High Elf . Thanks
Personally, I like Breton for spell resist and reduce cost.
Hey man, first of all great site! I’ve spent so much time here it’s not even funny.
Secondly, do you think redguard, wood elf, or imperial would be best for a stam nightblade? I’m planning on running dual and bow
Stam Nightblade Wood Elf for sustained, Imperial for damage.
Hello Deltia,
Great resource you have here. I’m planning on creating a Templar guided by your Omega builds. I’m a person that changes their mind often, so I am likely to switch between going pure PVE DPS, to maybe doing PVP DPS, and perhaps Healing, depending on my mood!
I’m thusly looking for the right race to pair it with. Hovering over Dark Elf and Breton. The Dark Elf interests me because of the magicka, and the fire resist for possible vampirism, However, your tooltips above show, I’m guessing, the maximum level racials. I see Dark Elves get 2016 resist, but Bretons get 3000. Would Bretons then, be better at resisting fire than a Dark Elf?
Yes after we tested it.
I’m beginning to regret my choice of Dumner NB… I chose it for dual wield bonus, but I also bow. Unfortunately I’ve spent 65hrs so reluctant to reroll, as I’ve crafted a lot. I’m hoping for best NB/stealth/bow though. Any advice?
Well bow/stealth is much better as Bosmer, the Dunmer passives only applies to leveling and gives nothing at end game. 65 hours is a lot less than 1000, your choice.
So I just got this game about 6 days ago on the PS4. I’m new to the Elder Scrolls world so I’ve had a friend helping me with the mechanics and basic info. I’m always looking to be the strongest that I can be. I’ve watched your best race and class video which was very informative. The video said that the Khajiit was your top pick for the NB. Your chart on the class race page says Imperial if you going stam. The video of 5 worst race/class combos says that crit doesn’t matter anymore in 2.0 and that Khajiit is the worst class in the game. I actually have a Khajiit/NB that I’m currently playing. I’m considering rerolling it if the race is really that much of garbage. Any advice would be appreciated.
P.S. Loved your Dummar/DK build and made one and got vampire at level 12 just so that I could use that build.
Well my suggests are in this post.
Hey Deltia, love the site & channel, thanks for all the hard work!
Currently maining a Breton Templar Healer/DPS, planning on all content (solo, group PvE, PvP). I’ve been flirting with making him a Vampire but I’m wondering whether Breton spell resist will cover that or if I should avoid it.
Also if I wanted to roll an Argonian would I be better off rolling a tank or Stamina DPS, and which class would best suit it? Thanks in advance!
It covers some but not all. Try it and see if it works for you.
Thanks Deltia!
Heh….. Should have looked this up sooner. Before I got my khajiit templar to lol 20… Oh well spent way to much time and resources in to her to quit now I’m sure I’ll find a way to make her work, she’s still fun with the omega build same with my argonian butcher. XD
How viable is a Orc DK late game?
It will be much better come update racial changes.
Hey Delta, I really respect your work and appreciate everything you do. I had a few comments and questions.
1. When are you getting a ps4? Lol, jk. I just want that Deltia, consultation I’ve seen you do on PC where you help out others.
2. I have a Nord Knight, who is VR2 and does well in pvp and pve. My question was to increase damage done, would Momentum (two handed), flames of Oblivion, and finally the thief mundus stone, I believe it’s this one, it gives increased crit. be a good base line to increase damage?
3. I have Volatile Armor, Dragon blood and Fragment Shield as a defense.
4. Aaannnddddd finally, I have searing strike, fire breath.
Would you recommend anything else? I have 9 points on magic, 23 on health, and 18 on stamina. I think that’s correct, I’m not on my game right now. Also, some champ points on increased physical attack damage and increased armor for 5 pieces of beaver armor equipped. Thanks again, for everything.
I suggest checking out the bloody butcher build, answers the questions. https://deltiasgaming.com/2015/03/08/the-bloody-butcher-dragonknight-dps-build-for-update-six/
Hi mate,
I’ve seen you mention that a new update is coming that will change some racials. Do you know what the changes will be yet??
Thanks
Chris
I have a lvl 30 argonian nb with a 2 handed sword 6 medium armor and 1 heavy armor. Im wanting to pvp so will this build work for me in the future. Hope you can reply and thx.
Hi Deltia,
I am confused between a wood elf night blade or breton sorcerer…which is better for end game + pvp???
Hi Deltia,
I am confused between a wood elf night blade or breton sorcerer, which is better for end game + pvp???
hey Deltia, i’m kind of new to the game, i’ve been searching stuff on the net to help me out and i think your page is the best thing i’ve found so far. i have a Redguard DK for tanking and i wanted to know if it would be better if he was a nord or imperial (although i can’t afford him) and what build i should use, thanks a lot!
Redguard is good.
Hi Deltia, I appreciate you are busy so i’ll keep this short.
I have 2 sorcs atm (1 stamina two-hander and bow) and the other (2 destro staves magicka dps-based). I wanted to make a different build utilising the main generic weapon/armour character feats I’ve not used yet (heavy armour and dual wield).
The racial choices seem to be either Breton or Imperial (went with Imperial but just started it if I should change) to offset the low stamina and health it’ll have. Should i stick with Imperial (both “look” good too, as looks play a part for my builds too)? I also get a bit confused with constant weapon swapping, preferring either a buff/range and then go wailing in on my main attack bar. Should i stick with dual wield on both or go something else for my second bar?
Sorry, i guess it wasn’t that short after all 🙁
Imperial is great all around. Depends on your build.
Hi i need a little help, I am planing to make a character that are going to use fire staff and darck magic (mainly going to be a character that goes PvE). And i dont know what to chose, Altmer or Dunmer. The darck magic will be my CC and my staff will do the damage. I dont know what alter does really, seem like it gives 4% on my attack with fire staff and dunmer gives me 7% damage on my fire spells. What is better and is this right?
So I started playing this game awhile back as a stealthy Wood Elf like I have in previous games but am dissatisfied. I want to start over and try out using magic (never have before) but also be able to use swords. What’s the best race class/combo? I like to support players but also want to deal serious damage.
Also, I feel very lost in what quests to do and what to do because the game is so expansive. Any tips to begin? Thanks.
Breton Templar if you want support.
That includes using magic to attack and being effective with a sword?
The passives of Templar gives you a handy weapon bonus. I dont know what you mean by magic as i would go Redguard Templar, as you can morph your Templar spells to scale and use stamina.
Are Khajiits a great choice now for Stam nb? Since regen n crits now affect shields?
YES!
Hey Delt, love your vids bro!
Question: Does Redguard’s adrenaline rush give stam every 3 or 5 seconds? Also, what race would you recommend for Stamplar build that likes to solo?
Thanks and keep up the great work !
It’s a awesome stamina race probably the best for sustained. However it doesn’t have the max stamina like Imperial.
I’m confused, don’t both Imperial and Redguard have max stamina? This page shows Redguard having the same Conditioning racial passive as Imperials.
First, I just want to say I love your site!
I’m curious on your opinion of a build I would like to try.
I’m thinking of rolling an imperial Dragon Knight using 2H. Critical Charge for a gap closer, Cleave morphed into brawl for a shield, Talons for a CC, Fiery Breath for a DoT and Molten Weapons for some power. What morphs do you recommend for Talons, Fiery Breath and Molten Weapons? Also what armour type would you run? Thinking werewolf over vampire too. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks! -Ninja-
You’re missing out on Rally a major self heal and buff. WW/Vamp is up to you but I’m not going to use either in update 7.
Good to know. I figure the werewolf passive may be worth having. Rally and Dragon blood will be on my second bar for sure when i get that far! Thanks again!
Hey Deltia, I asked a question on eso forums but haven’t had any response. Have you done any testing on racial passives and when/what stats they are applied to?
If you run a High Elf Magicka build with 10% Max Magicka passive. Is that 10% only applied to your base Magicka stats (level and attribute points), or does it get applied after you put on enchanted armor, armor with Max Magicka set bonuses, food that buffs max magicka, and Mundus stones that boost max magicka?
Would it be a waste of time to make an Orc Tank DK? Im level 15, should I just reroll?
You wouldn’t consider a high elf for a dps DK?
Is it worth starting again as red guard templar
I did dark elf templar just cause of its passives, i wanted vamp so thought it would be helpful also, now im second guessing it any comments on that? Im vet 11 now. Was thinking of making another character once i reach vet 14 and clear everything
Vr2 stanima sorc dark elf tank, it’s a lot of fun but I’m thinking I should of chose a different race. Duel wield and sword n bord. I am confused on what kind of armor I should choose tho. I’m going to stick with it because it’s fun but should I stay heavy armor or go to medium? Or a mix of all? Ps4 noob.
Is it really worth rerolling a sorc if I want to change to a stamina build from a High elf to a Kitty cat?
Depends, do you want to be the best possibly you can? If not, than keep at it.
Hey Deltia, great info! One quick question. Why do you say Robust is such a weak passive? Isn’t 30% extra recovery amazing? I just feel like I’m missing something lol Thanks for the help
Health recovery is junk, but it’s getting buffed with stamina so it’s great once again.
Hey dagger I use a darkelf dual dagger stamina night blade , I’m pretty balanced but really excel at speed , its actually pretty interesting to play as
High elf dragonknight
The Imperial Passive Red Diomond does it only apply to melee like daggers ect or would it work with bow too ?
Not bow only melee attacks.
Well deltia i was looking on your builds for dps and found your dunmer dk build quite interesting, watched your video about that specific build and tried to create my own dk dunmer,as inspired by you, using your skill bars mainly, and for PvE i must say you werent a bit wrong, high fire damage, great dps, pumped out the extra elemental damage, spell cost reduction and spell resistance champ points, and i got what i wanted,or atleast i thought so.I am a pvp player mainly, when i created this build i had in mind that i would be very competetive in cyrodiil, problem is im not,my survivability is terrible, and my dps cannot compensate for that,i mean how will i cast spells if i am 3 shoted b focused aim lol,not your fault of course, maybe that build was made for pve,and i didnt recognise it .physical attacks are just deleting me.So,dk dunmer, doudle inferno staff, max magicka 17734,17900 health,975 spell damage 975,spell critical 52% i always have inner light and sea of flames active,880 magicka rec,309 health rec,7115 spell and…2638 physical resistance, all while being vr2,in cyrodiil without potions,i run 7 light pieces of armor, full magnus gift set and 3 pieces of seducer, reduce spell rings and neck, magicka rec enchaments, apprentice mundus stone, weighted trait on the staffs,31 champ points in magicia,31 in elemental expert, and 31 elemental defender.now of course i know you dont have all the time in the world, but i would greatly appreciate it if you could give me some some advice on how to make my build pvp focused, even if it means sacrificing pve effectiveness a little, thanks in advance for hearing me out,im a great fan of yours, keep up the good work : )
I’m probably going to alternate between Templar and DK. I already have an Imperial Templar Stamina DPS. Do you think that’s a good combo? Also, which race is good for DK Stamina DPS if that is even worthwhile?
These passives seem outdated.. doesn’t orc have a strait damage buff now from the most recent changes?
Would a Wood Elf be good as an archery/two handed based sorc for end game PvP?
-main weapons would be bow and two handed
-Five pieces of medium armor and two pieces of light armor
-main purpose do damage at a distance with curses, c frags, mage’s wrath, poison arrow, snipe, and of course sneak attacks with bows (what would be a good ultimate for distance?) (Would Magicka Detonation be a good replacement for the curse ability?) (Would other abilities from other skill lines better benefit a bow using sorc?)
-if it comes down to close combat I would switch to my two handed ability bar and use bolt escapes to stun and turn around use crit charge, and crtic surge, and have negate magic as an ultimate. Well those are what I can think of for close combat. (So what other abilities from other skill lines would benefit a two handed sorc?)
What do you think of this type of end game build? Are there any recommendations or changes that are needed?
I love being a sorc and love doing sneak attacks I already have an all sorc Breton and an all NB Kahjit ( both low levels like 10 and 8) but now I want a combination of the two! 🙂
I want to build a Bosmer Sorce with bow and two handed as my weapon choices, this will be a PvP focus build for end game.
-having 5 pieces of medium armor and two pieces of light armor
-for bow ability bar I was thinking of going for poison arrow, snipe, curse, c frags, and mage’s wrath I don’t know what ultimate I should use though and is Inevitable Detonation a better choice over Curse? Do you know an other abilities to use from other skill lines?
-for two handed ability bar I was thinking of bolt escape, crit charge, crit surge, and possibly the negate magic field as the ultimate. What other abilities should I get or change in other skill lines?
I already have an all sorc breton build and an all NB Kahjit build (both low levels like 10 and 8) and I love both and now I want a combination of the two! 🙂
Sorry for double post just ignore the second one
What r your thouts for a werewolf dragon knight imperial?
What r your thouts for a werewolf dragon knight imperial?
Werewolf doesn’t really work as it used to. 1.6 as long as you contracted lycanthropy you would get a 15% stamina regen, but in 1.7 you have to have the ultimate slotted to be able to get that 15% recovery.
Sorry for double post tablet is slow.
I rolled a wood elf templar because of his stamina regen and bow for end game? So far he has no problems pve was that a good combo
That’s a good choice if you want a lot of sustained.
First I just wanted to say thank you for making your site and videos. I’ve been watching them for a while now and they’re pretty informative. I just got the game for Xbox One and have the Imperial Edition. I started out making a Khajit Nightblade which I have been enjoying but I’m thinking about rolling up a Dunmer/Vamp/Dragonknight. Which one of these would be better for PvE and which one would be better for PvP?
Both work really well for both! Khajiit has massive burst dps, whereas DK is really tank in pvp and has the high sustain dps in pve.
Hey Deltia. I’m about to create a new char to min max on. I want to be a magicka dps templar. I really like the imperial race the best but your guide here says breton is the best magicka dps. However further down it says imperial is the best race for all templar roles. Which one should I use being that I want to min max more than be my favorite race? What about High Elf?
High Elf = magicka Templar
Imperial = stamina Templar
Hey Deltia. My favorite race is Imperial. I want to make a Min/Max Magicka DPS Templar. Your grid says Breton is the best magicka DPS and yet your power combinations section says Imperial is best for all Templar roles. I’m a little confused so I want to ask that being that I care more about Min/Maxing than being a Imperial which race should I be. Imperial or Breton(as you say both of them are best for templar)? What about High Elf?
Hey there, I just bought ESO last night, and it’s patching right now. I was wondering if an Imperial Sorc was good or bad. I’m conflicted between choosing an Imperial or a Breton. Actually, better question. What class is best for Imperials xD I am so confused with words.
Very good, Imperial for stamina or weapons, Breton of magic with staffs.
Hey Deltia,
Im an looking to build a (max) spell damage sorcerer. I have seen a few builds recently using dual wield and something like a resto staff as secondary. I am torn between High Elf and Breton for race to start. Reading your post, it looks like going Breton would be ideal, but I haven’t seen anything mentioned about dual wield. Any recommendations on weapon choices to go with High Elf and/or Breton? Thank you.
Go high elf for more elemental damage.
Doh… So, being anxious to start, I went with Breton after reading some other forums that supported the idea of Breton vs High Elf for end-game PvP with the idea that the increased spell resistance would be beneficial. With the idea of PvP as a focus of mine, do you still recommend a High Elf over Breton?
As a side note, I might be stuck on the path of the Breton since I started with a buddy who went Daggerfall with me and well… we got married. So there is that. Will it be a crucial difference if I stick with Breton over High Elf for PvP?
Thanks for the help.
Hi. I just bought the game. I know nothing about mechanics yet. I have been tanking in games since ever quest. I made a dk high elf. Not even really knowing the roles. How important is the race for a dk honestly. I will be end game elites soon enough. I just not sure if I wanna change from high elf. I plan to tank like a pro.
High Elf isn’t the best, I’d go with Imperial or Dunmer for tanking or even Nord.
Hello Deltia.
Just Installed ESO and subbed ur youtube Channel.
I Want a Race/Class good for Tank and Dual Wielding.
I Guess Dark Elf Dragonknight is cool for swaping betwen those 2 roles.
What do you think?
Hello Deltia,
Just started ESO e watching your Youtube Channel!
Whats the best Race/Class for a Tank/dualwielder Swap.
I going tank in a group and Dualwielder DPS for solo.
tx 🙂
Imperial
Dunmer DK or Imperial
Hi deltia. I got my high elf dk to be 17. I’m now not playing at all due to my indecisiveness. I want to do end game with my main. I had just bought the imperial add on to re roll and then I hear imperial may be nerfed? I don’t know the mechanics of the game, or the calculations that you guys make. I don’t want to have to re roll again if the imperial nerf is on the way. Dunmer high elf or the imperial or… idfk!I. I wanna rank and
There’s been no nerf to imperials. Dunmer DK is the best.
Ok so now I made an imperial and I’m still questioning my choice. Is dark elf that much better really? Is it because of the dog bonus, that you consider them to be better aggro holders?
Dunmer
Im have a 37 Imperial/Vamp Templar, trying to get back into the game. I’ve read a lot of your stuff before recently.
i’m torn between rerolling Breton/Dunmer or keeping my already leveled some what imperial/vamp templar.
Should i reroll to Breton or Dunmer to be able to go Omega Magicka DPS/Healer, i would like to tank sometimes too.
For Omega I’d go with High Elf for pure mag DPS or Dunmer if you like to play stamina and magicka at times.
I want to build a Bosmer or Kahjit Sorce with bow and two handed as my weapon choices, this will be a PvP focus build for end game.
-having 5 pieces of medium armor and two pieces of light armor
-for bow ability bar I was thinking of going for shade, snipe, curse, c frags, and mage’s wrath I don’t know what ultimate I should use though and is Inevitable Detonation a better choice over Curse? Do you know an other abilities to use from other skill lines?
-for two handed ability bar I was thinking of bolt escape, crit charge, crit surge, and executioner and possibly the negate magic field as the ultimate. What other abilities should I get or change in other skill lines?
I already have an all sorc breton build and an all NB Kahjit build (both low levels like 10 and 8) and I love both and now I want a combination of the two!
Why use a magic DPS ability on a stamina build? Both will be very week. Lethal Arrow. If you want a stam sorc build, check out ricochet.
I’ve been hitting all the chats, i must be so annoying but please i need help. I want to start Imperial/Templar Tanking. Any help with the build? i am more focusing on PvE.
Hey Deltia!
I was curious about nightblade tanking as a vampire. Should I go with an Orc to make up for lost health recovery, dark elf to counter balance fire damage, or argonian to maximize potion use and healing recieved for siphoning??
Not a lot of helpful guides for NB tanking 🙁
Very thankful for your dedication to your craft here, happy holidays!
Dark Elf would be really good since you get stam and mag with resist.
While I do like Dark Elf, for having build flexibility, their resist is virtually worthless and not even really worth mentioning. When resists were redone back in 1.6 (I think), it became worth about 3% (and less than even Breton–which gets all types of magic–at around 6%).
Hello Deltia want to go tank. Better Templar/Imperial or Dunmer/DK?
Dunmer DK
Don’t get it, here you say that imperial/templar tank is the “rockstar” of any group. I only trust your builds because of theit depth. And because I am a noob I need to understand why one is better. Thank you deltia.
Chains, block reduction, max armor spell resist, magma shell, and self healing = DK
Super fast response wow. Thanks deltia, I am going for it.
hi deltia,
awesome guide, keep up the great work!
I was wondering how much of a difference there actually is between the different classes.
is it the final 1-2% dps/dmg done or is it more like a “make or brake” thing – for all roles.
i’m highly interessted in pve ( as tank/dps) and I love the big, wild, bearded nords but I guess I “have” to play dunmer… or suck ? ^^
You don’t have to but it makes a big difference once you get high Champion Points. Damage yes, but resources I can tell a huge difference. I went from a Nord to a Dunmer and it was night and day.
Hi Deltia
I play Orc DK Tank since june … now I think to switch to stamina DPS since the racial passive changes. maybe the burning butcher 😉 what do you think is the better choice for an orc, tank or dps?
I would be glad if you make an pvp build for an stamina DK (tank or dps). dragonguard or laceration don t works for me, as an Stamina Orc DK. Thanks a lot for your great videos and guides 😀
I think and Orc DK PvP build would be cool due to the speed passive the orc’s have.
Hi Deltia
I play an Orc stamina DK (tank) since the release on the PS4. I think it was time that they change the weak robust passive of the Orc. Now I am thinking about, to switch to a stamina DPS build. the burning butcher looks awesome! what do you think is better for an stamina Orc DK, DPS or tank? I wanna make the best with my race. What do you think gives me a better perfomance with that race? Will you make an pvp guide for stamina DK s? Laceraion is really nice, and Dragonguard was also a good build, but you haven t made a guide for an stamina DK, thats sad. I hope you changes that. thank you for your great videos and guides Deltia 🙂
I answered your question earlier, just took me a minute to respond.
Sorry Deltia, I don t want to annoy you 🙁
thought the mail didn t arrived you, or was failed.
but thank you very much for your comment.
I will try stamina DPS 😉
Hello, fellow in arms Deltias!
I’m about to start playing ESO so I’d like your advice. I am a nord by heart, since day one of Skyrim I’ve loved nordic culture and their beautiful land.
Therefore, give me your advice: wich melee class and style are the nords best at?
Nord Dragonknight tank is about the only viable role in my opinion.
Do you mean your full stamina tank dragonknight build or something else?
Hello!
I’m a imperial templar. Can i be magika DPS?
Sure, just not the absolute best DPS possible, did a video on it on YouTube.
I am in a bit of pickle. I have a vet rank 3 Breton that I have been trying to do a stamina magic defense tank. I have had some success but I feel the racial passives don’t really suit the role. Should I reroll?
Well Bretons make good tanks for spell resist passive and max magicka. I’d use more magicka based abilities rather than stamina and it should do great.
^ Templar
Is it a bad idea going a Khajiit Dragon Knight when I plan on hopefully swapping between Magicka and stamina as I choose at end game?? I just can’t seem to make a Dunmer I like the look of
Well I don’t think it’s the best, but if you like the look, stick with it.
I need some help Pease guys im looking to create a fresh nightblade, bow character but can not choose between Wood elf or Khajit? I will be getting the wearwolf ability early on too. both builds seem really fun but I just can not choose lol maybe someone who has both classes can help me out? thank you in advance people!
oh I will also be playing solely PVE as im not much of a pvp player at all if this helps 🙂
Orc, Imperial, or Dunmer even.
Do u have a build for a sorc with 2 handed and bow? If not tell me how well that combo would work together and what race i should be to do so. And if i should focus more on stamina or magic. If it is a terrible combo let me know.
Is Ricochet, you kind find all the builds for each class on the top tool bar.
Im about to start playing. Ive never played ESO before. I want to roll a stam NB. Should i go imperial redguard or wood elf?? I will mostly be doing pvp. Thanks
Khajiit IMO, or Imperial.
I picked a nightblade just bcuz i like damage and i thought they would be the best but i also picked dark elf witht that bcuz i didn’t know there were racial passives, should i restart with a better race for dark elf or is it fine to contineu like this?
I’d do High Elf
Hey deltia, i wanna roll a nightblade but unsure of a race too choose from, my opions are khajiit or wood elf, which would hit like a mac truck? Thank you
Khajiit.
Hey deltia how does the Argonian healing Templar do in end game PVE does that 6% resouces back on potion drinking actually help or would it all together be better to do a Breton …thanks for being awesome and always actually caring and helping keep up the greatness
Breton
I have a quick question. My redguard temp cant take any hits. Ive been sinking everything into stam. I’ve got him to v5 with 22000 stam and 10000 health. Should i sink sink some points into health or adjust the enchantments on my armor to health. I dont wanna lose too much dps cuz most of the time i run alone
You should be around 15k health at VR5 with food buff up.
My guy sucks i can tell you race matters. I wanted to be pact to be with friends. So i chose a nord nightblade. Im up to vr9 but my guy is bad in pvp and pve. Game getting frustrating and i can feel im gonna quit. Choose the right race!
Hello Deltia. Thx a lot for sharing all your knowledge about ESO.
Just a little question : I have a stamina templar and a stamina sorc both imperials and not very high lvl, but I really would like to reroll one as redguard to try the “stamina king” race, so would it be more beneficial to have a redguard stam sorc and (and imperial stamplar) or a redguard stamplar (and an imperial stam sorc) ?
Thank you.
More beneficial for what context? I prefer my Stamplar Imperial over my Redguard Stam Sorc but taht’s me.
Sorry i wasn’t very clear :(.
I Just want to play one stam sorc and one stam templar with one redguard and one imperial. I will to do some pve and pvp.
With the stam regen of redguard and the max health of the imperial, I just would like to hear your opinion about stam regen and sturdiness of stam sorc and stamplar to help to make a decision : may be one of the two class is more squeeshy (so imperial would be better) or has more stam regen pbs (so redguard would be better).
Thx for trying to decrypt what i try to explain 😉
I want to roll a Templar shredder with dunmer is it good? Or a bad choice
Yes
I am just beginning my experience with this game. While googling “the best XXX in TESO” I found your website. So My question is:
Should I pick an Imperial Templar as my first character there? And then invest everything in “magicka”? I have that ESOPlus, but honestly do not know what will it grant me.
Could you give an opinion on this imperial stamina sorcerer archer with this skill composition?
http://www.esohead.com/calculator/skills#1.mMazggzVz9MW08innG8NURG8inTJ8AIOD8TrUf8AISv8inyz8NURG8injt8NUmU8AIUM8LxRn8L7rcdoQr6MdoQC6MdoQF8p7JMdBvT6MdBvj6MdBEI6MdBEp6cdBET8T7rMrqAi6MrqAZ6crqLw8x7r68g7HrsXn6rsXy6rsXx6LsXt6LsXg6MipLW6MipL46MippV6Mippo6Mippq8H7xrzf26LzwM8J7JLziB6rziD6rziO6rziX6rziY6MNUIz6MNUIc6MNUIi6MNUIN8K7Jrkg6rzuu6LzuN6Lzuj6rzun6MANRQ6MANRU6MANRW6MANRZ8O7zzAZqS8P7ardYw6zLp4d6cLncp6cLncn8U7aLrXg8Y7z68zM7acgcmM6zgcoS6cgkvQ8zf7ozNbo6LNbk6MDVRC6MDVRH8zu7zzHfYE6zHfZd8zG7zzHQ3F8zI7zzJIoX6zJIkL8zN7zzJZcY8zA7zzKpUN8zL7zzK4EX
On overload bar i use utilities like Maneuver, caldrops, streak, hardened ward and vigor ar included for extra escape. Or i can replace overload with atronarch or, maybe you got a better option? Anyhow, as sets, 5 pices hunt leader +5 pices hunding rage ( thinking of replacing with Shock master set) Weapons Maelstorm. The build is intended for PVE, Group PVP and IC. It goes well in small scale pvp too, afther you get the hang of it, it uses a lot of animation canceling combos to be effective. Stats, best way to go is full stamina, but it went well in testing with 15 magicka rest stamina, and runes for reduce magicka and stamina cost +weapon dmg, the rest max health, and magicka mainly. With shock runes on weapons. CP focus on bow dmg bonus and phisycal bonus, and points in bastion, and reduce stamina cost and magicka costs of spells and dodge roll. Rest of CP is still jubject of change. What do you think about this build? PS:rolls 5 medium and 2 heavy (chest and legs for fashion are heavy if used with hunding’s rage)
Is this a PvP or a PvE build? Solo, group, end game leveling?
Like i mentioned in the build itself it is for group PVP, Imperial City and PVE to some degree, i wanted to create an all arround build for a stamina sorcerer, a combination of Roleplay and efficiency, as i’ve found the familliar to be a lot of help in PVE and even in PVP evenw ithout the hunt leader set.
Deltia your the man hope your enjoying the kid! Question on the new orc passive damage to melee attacks is that only melee attacks or also melee abilities like flying blade for example
Idk about flying blade but Wrecking Blow / Biting Jabs yes.
Delta, great guides, thanks for those!! I’m starting a new character, but cannot decide which race… I’m going magicka Nb for solo pve. What race would you recommend? Thanks bro
High Elf for sure.
Awesome!! Cheers
I like the idea of Orc Templar w/ 2hvy / 5 light armor/ 2h sword. you get the following weapon buffs for max physical dmg: Orc Racial 4%, Balanced Warrior 6% (and spell resist!), Med armor 5pc bonus 12%, 2h Sword passive 3%, and then buffed with Vigor(2h) 20%, slot Flawless dawnbreaker (2.4 patch) for another 5% (and an inexpensive ultimate)
That’s 4+6+12+3+20+5= 50%. When combined with Nirnhoned weapon dmg buff, and Divines Mundus stone with weapon dmg Mundus, and a set of Agility rings…we are looking at some serious max dmg. Crit % scales off weapon dmg…so this means even bigger crits…
Rather than have Racial Passives I wish ESO would make some kind of training system, perhaps similar to the champion system but specifically for training the racial passives – or expand the champion system to include such passives, as some of the passives are already in the champion system. This would give players the option to create the race and look they want cosmetically with racial abilities that suit their specific build. There is some imbalance with regard to racial traits. For example lets compare the Altmer to the Orc. The Altmer gets 4% elemental damage (rarely to you use all 3, so this isn’t really 12% for each), 9% magicka regen and 10% max magicka. The orc gets 30% health regen, 10% sprint speed, 12% reduc sprint cost, 4% weapon dmg, 6% max health, 6% max stamina. In terms of champion points, the Orc has almost 3 times as many buffs. in terms of direct %/points, 12%+10%+6%+6%+4%+30% = 68% for the Orc, vs 4%+10%+9%= 23% for the Altmer. The Orc gets 68% and the Altmer gets 23%. Even if you take out health regeneration, it is still 38% vs 23%. If you have ever gone heavy armor with an orc or nord, health regen can be a nice 1500 to 3000+ heal every 2 seconds. Not bad. Health regen mitigates the need for max health. Anyways – just a thought. An Altmer would have to spend a lot more champion points than the orc to get the same effects.
i’m starting to play ESO now and since skyrim i always loved playing redgurad dualweild. 1º: is it dualwield a viable choice? 2º is it redguard a viable choice for that? and 3º: wich class suits better for that? NB?
Khajiit or Redguard.
Hello, Nice Site by the way. I’m looking to get in to ESO but I do my research before playing a new game so not to jump like a total Noobie.I was wondering with the Adventure Pack which allows you to pick any Faction and any Race; Will the Stats stacks. Example I want to make a Tank so I pick Imperial then pick a Orc will the Imperial traits Shield Affinity, Red Diamond, Conditioning, Tough stack with the Orc’s traits Heavy Armor Expertise ,Swift, Robust, Brawny ?
Tank go Nord or Imperial.
Hello, here is a question I have I would like to have a DPS NB is Imperial a good race for it?
Also Magicka or Stamina would be more preferable for a DPS role for both PVE and PVP I would like to have some self sustain as well, as I usually play alone or with 1-2 friends only
Ps. great guides and videos you have, I just recently bought ESO and your video has been a great help
Khajiit for PvE and PvP is what I recommend. Especially since they’re getting more stam.
Hi Deltia,
I’m looking for: ‘the one tank to rule them all’ (haha)
I’m looking for an *end game* tank that can completely soak up as much damage possible for my friends on the PVE side of things, as well as getting taken to PVP and is so annoyingly tanky an enemy player would more likely give up fighting me just because they don’t feel like wasting the time it would take to kill me.
If damage wasn’t important to me, and I was specifically looking for the one class and race that could annoyingly out-tank any other enemy, who and what class would that be? (for the latest patch)
(Inspiration: Rammus from League of Legends)
Great job on your website and youtube channel. I really appreciate everything you’re doing and the constant information you send our way. I’m new to this game and if this was a dumb question, I apologize in advance is there is no such thing as the one tank to rule them all.
Have a good day,
AllanJames
Nord DK hands down.
Thank you very much on the speedy response, keep up the great work. I’ll try it out!
Would a nord/Imperial DK with earthen and draconic abilities be good for solo play and possible groups later on for dungeons?
So I re-rolled my Breton for a nord, just for looks. It seems that I should go back now…
Nords are great tanks.
Hey. Id like to put together a all around tanky build mainly for pve but would like to tank for ball-zergs every now and then in pvp. i was going to race change to imperial from redguard. or orc. HOping you would leave an opinion. TY.
Depends on the class, tankiest for stam is Nord by far, though Imperial has a massive health/stam pool.
Ty sir. Thats why i was going to go imp. I will take your word for it though im going to race change to nord. much appreciated !!
Should I restart my Khajiit DK? I like DK play style but like khajiits
Naw they are very good keep it.
I wanna roll StamDK, but I’m can’t decide what race to go with. I wanna go dual wield/bow or dual wield/2 handed. For my race choice I’m torn between Orc, Redguard or Khajiit. I’m gonna roll this char on solo, mostly PvE and maybe go PvP later on.
