While the game does have fall damage mechanics, it isn’t as critical as some other survival titles. If you stumble down a ledge and hit the ground, you’ll lose a portion of your health. However, to die from simply taking fall damage, you’ll need to tumble down from a massive height in the game. Or, you might die if you fall while your HP is already considerably drained.

Even if your HP does get to zero, the game has the self-revive option, which you can use to recover. Still, if you want to limit or completely eliminate fall damage in the game, there are plenty of ways to do that as well.

How To Avoid Fall Damage in Dune Awakening

There are a number of items or abilities that you can use to avoid taking damage from falls.

  • Suspensor Belts: These are special items that you can find while exploring the world, or you can craft them yourself. When they are equipped, the item will automatically suspend you briefly before you hit the ground after taking a fall. This completely negates any fall damage. Since the effect is automatic, you don’t need to press any specific button while falling.

  • Shigawire Claw: The Shigawire Claw is the starting ability for the Trooper class. When you are falling from a considerable height, you can deploy the claw to give you a boost off the ground. This breaks your falling momentum and helps you avoid any fall damage.

In some cases, if you’re about to take a tumble while facing the cliff, you can grab onto the rocks as a last-ditch effort to prevent fall damage. To do this, make sure to quickly press and hold the Spacebar button on PC as you’re falling. If there’s a point to grab nearby, your character will use it to prevent falling down further.
