Thieves Guild PvE DPS

Published for ESO Update 2.3 Thieves Guild on 2/17/2016

Objective – The idea behind this build is ranged DPS Magic Templar for dungeons, Vet Maelstrom or questing (PvE).  This is not for the new trial as you will need a lot more sustained in order to adapt to the new longer duration fights.

Skills

Omega Skill Lines Thieves Guild

Destruction Staff – Our main source of damage this patch around due to the buff for Wall of Elements and Maelstrom Staff I’m doing more damage with staff than traditional Dual Wield.

  • Inner Light (morph of Mage Light | Mages Guild skill line) – Still boost our max magicka, still gives us major buff for spell critical but now its only required on one bar freeing up some space on our back bar.  Plus you can toggle it prior to dropping Shooting Star for a 20% damage boost.
  • Vampires Bane (morph of Sun Fire | Dawn’s Wrath skill line) – One of the skills that got buffed and really packs a bunch on my Dunmer.  Another option is Purifying Light which can now critically hit.  When I tested both, I had better success with Vampires Bane.
  • Puncturing Sweeps (morph of Puncture Strikes | Aedric Spear skill line) – While I still slow Sweeps, I don’t use it like previous builds.  I mainly have it slotted for the Aedric Spear passive boosting my Critical Damage by 10%.  But you can use this for a heal/stun up close if you want.  Once again, when I tested Sweeps vs. Dark Flare, Flare won.
  • Dark Flare (morph of Solar Flare | Aedric Spear skill line) – 12% damage boost, ranged, gives empower and hits like a mack truck.  The way I use this is Flare, Light Attack, Flare, Light Attack, while maintaining two buffs (Elemental Blockade and Vampires Bane).  Weaving adds a lot of damage so get use to practicing it.
  • Elemental Blockade (morph of Wall of Elements | Destruction Staff skill line) – Wow did this get buffed.  AoE and amazing single target that benefits from Vet Maelstrom Staff.  The bad part is you can’t really animation cancel, but it’s worth keeping this up.
  • [Ultimate] Shooting Star (morph of Meteor | Mages Guild skill line) – Meteor still does more damage than Nova, plus it give you empower and benefits from Empower so I use it.

Dual Wield – I use this for buffs and AoE damage.

  • Proxy Detention (morph of Magicka Detonation | Alliance War Assault skill line) – Might still take awhile to get this ability, but it’s a bruiser.  Some may argue that it’s worth maintaining this ability (8 seconds before explosion) even in a single target application.  The way I use it, prior to starting combat cast it on myself and only recast if there’s multiple mobs.
  • Channeled Focus (morph of Rune Focus | Restoring Light skill line) – Stand in your circle of magicka and with Dark Flare change you shouldn’t have a problem with that.  You can also still get the buff for 8 seconds after you move out of it so keep it up.  Remember that the more magicka you have, the more damage you do during execute phase, so potion/channel right before boss hits 25%.
  • Radiant Oppression (morph of Radiant Destruction | Dawn’s Wrath skill line) – “Jesus Beam” still powerful and now works with multiple Templars.  I still use this around 25% of the bosses health making sure my DoTs are fully up before I beam.
  • Blazing Spear (morph of Spear Shard | Aedric Spear skill line) – Still an AoE juggernaut combined with Proxy Det for huge AoE plus you can use at range.  Stand back and spam cast but make sure you’re generating ultimate with one light attack.
  • Breath of Life (morph of Rushed Ceremony | Restoring Light skill line) – The nice thing about Templars is, we don’t need a Resto staff for healing.  I still use this as a DPS just in case I stand in red like a baddy 🙂
  • [Ultimate] Solar Disturbance (morph of Nova | Dawn’s Wrath skill line) – Not the best DPS ultimate but still useful for damage mitigation.

Rotation and Buffs

  • Prior to combat I use a spell power potion, cast Channel Focus, Proxy Detonation and bar swap for Shooting Star (toggle inner light prior to cast for Empower 20% more damage).
  • Now cast an Empowered Vampires Bane while closing the distance, light attack, Elemental Blockade, light attack.
  • Now we go into Dark Flare/Light or Medium attack weave for about 3x until Blockade needs to be recast, then Vampires Bane.
  • Maintaining Blockade/Vampires Bane, keep Channeled Focus up for max magicka and Proxy Det in AoE situations.
  • Beam at 25% health making sure you have Channeled Focus down, potion for spell power is used and DoTs are up.
  • That’s it, in AoE situations I spam Blazing Spear and only heal when I’m in trouble.

Gear

Omega Thieves Guild Gear

5 Piece Julianos – Still my go-to magicka DPS setup though Twice Born Star is also very viable.  Julianos can be crafted in Orsinium for 6 traits which no real substitute other than TBS.

2 Piece Molag Kena – The good news is, this Templar build doesn’t benefit very much from 2 piece helm sets like Nerien’eth, Valkyn Skoria or even Molag Kena.  If you don’t have these sets, go with a 4 piece Magnus for damage or 4 piece Seducers for sustained (helm/shoulders/weapons).

VMA Weapons – I know a lot of people don’t have the Destruction staff, but it’s a massive DPS boost light weaving attacks while maintaining Wall of Elementals.   You can easily just add another Seducers or Magnus depending on what your using.

Champion Points

My CP Calculator is out of date for the PTS and I plan on updating it once changes go live.  The big changes in DPS are from Thaumaturge from the Ritual tree (blue) which is now Damage Over Time not magic.  You’ll need to put some points into this because two of our three DPS abilities are DoTs, however I do not know the best amount as of yet.

Now we move our to Elemental Expert in Apprentice for the majority of CP and spill over into the Elfborn for critical damage.  The blue/green trees are similar to 2.2 build no real changes for PvE.

Skills

Omega Updated Skills

Dual Wield (Damage setup with Nirn)

  • Inner Light (morph of Mage Light | Mages Guild skill line) – Max magicka damage and spell critical, winning.  Keep this double bared and toggled on.
  • Vampires Bane (morph of Sun Fire | Dawn’s Wrath skill line) – I use to use Purifying Light, however it doesn’t seem to critically hit which is the whole point of our build.  Vampires Bane is a strong DoT which is used to proc our 5% spell damage bonus via Illuminate.  If another Templar is using one, you can switch this out for Repentance for 10% magicka regeneration.
  • Structured Entropy (morph of Entropy | Mages Guild skill line) – This is our 20% damage buff which while slotted gives us more max magicka and magicka recovery.  It’s best to use spell power potion, but they are expensive so use this along with Vampires Bane for 25% spell damage!
  • Puncturing Sweeps (morph of Puncturing Strikes | Aedric Spear skill line) – One button win for magicka Templars.  Use this over and over while light attacking every 6 seconds to proc your weapon enchants and generate ultimate.
  • Radiant Oppression (morph of Radiant Destruction | Dawn’s Wrath skill line) – Still a powerful magicka finisher, just make sure to wait until 25% health to fire this off.
  • [Ultimate] Shooting Star (morph of Meteor | Mages Guild skill line) – It cost much less than Nova, has great burst and procs our Empower with Might of the Guild passive.  And slotting this gives us more max magicka, hence more damage.

Dual Wield (Buffs with precise for healing)

  • Inner Light (morph of Mage Light | Mages Guild skill line) – Same as a above.
  • Channeled Focus (morph of Rune Focus | Restoring Light skill line) – Very important to keep this active for magicka regeneration and a great deal of resistances.  Remember that we get more damage on our execute the more magicka we have, so try to have a lot before a boss burn.
  • Repentance (morph of Restoring Aura | Restoring Light skill line) – 10% magicka regeneration for slotted and a great heal from corpses.  Front bar this if you’re playing with another Templar using Dawn’s Wrath abilities.
  • Blazing Spear (morph of Spear Shards | Aedric Spear skill line) – We put this on the back bar for ranged AoE and Piercing Spear passive in Aedric Spear skill line (10% critical damage).
  • Breath of Life (morph of Rushed Ceremony | Restoring Light skill line) – An emergency heal that is still useful if you’re not a healer.
  • [Ultimate] Solar Prison (morph of Nova | Dawn’s Wrath skill line) – A great damage mitigating ultimate that does tons of damage.

Gear

Omega New gear setup Omega Gear Image

  • 5x Twice-Born Star – 9 trait craftable set that you want to pair with Shadow (critical damage) and Thief (more critical chance).  There is no substitute and it’s very hard to get a hold of, but trust me it works.  DISCLAIM, no I’m not the person who “mathed” the results.  I learned about this gear setup from Nifty and Gilliam about three weeks ago.  Whoever figured it out first deserves a lot of credit, just know its not me.
  • 4x Overwhelming Surge – Found in Veteran White Gold Tower though you can go with Julianos set once released in ESO 2.2 or Magnus for a powerful 4 piece bonus.
  • 3x Willpower – Powerful 3 piece magicka set.  Craft for pure spell damage if you’re at the 501 champion point mark otherwise I’d do reduce cost 2x and 1x magicka recovery.

Champion Points

Champion Points Omega

The Mage | The Apprentice – First priority is 30 points into Elfborn/Spell Erosion to hit the Spell Precision passive for 12% spell critical.

The Mage | The Ritual – Thaumaturge – Next up you want to dump a lot of points into this as nearly all of our damage comes from only magicka.

The Thief | The Tower Magician vs. The Lover Arcanist – I do a 60/40% split between this two for resource management. Depending on your race (High Elf regeneration or Breton reduced cost) you may want to change that if you have a specific bonus.

The Warrior | The Lord – Quick Recovery – I love this passive combined with Puncturing Sweeps for massive self healing.  You most likely won’t need any heals simply spamming jabs.

Misc

Omega Stats Page

  • Race Choice – 1) High Elf for max stats and Elemental damage 2) Breton for max magicka and reduced cost 3) Dunmer if you enjoy playing stamina one day and magicka the next.
  • Attributes – Reach 18,000 health for the new content, 20,000 if you’re unfamiliar with the dungeons.  Rest go all magicka so 64 points.
  • Vampire vs Werewolf – I stay stage four vampire for PvP purposes and I don’t see a use for either strictly PvP.
  • Food and Drink – Go bi-stat magicka and health for max stats.

Hey Deltia… I stumbled across your videos a few weeks ago and those are the only reason I decided to pick this game up and i’m having a blast. I’ve been leveling up a sorc shadowing your “Ignition” build and its been amazing even when leveling.

However, now that ive seen this Templar video im conflicted. This looks like insane fun, insane survivability and just crushes everything. Keep up the videos, they are genuinely inspirational!!!

    THANK YOU!

I have a vet 14 templar healer and I was just trting to put together my skills for a dps load out. This post is greatly appreciated and I am toying with it for my DPS build. However, what would you suggest for endgame PVP/PVE gear? I like the martial knowledge set but it is quite expensive now because people are using it for their sorcs. Any suggestions?

Also, would you change any skills for endgame as opposed to leveling?

Good guide filled with useful information, game play that proves your points, and plenty of uncomplicated enthusiasm.

As important, however, than builds is your ABM doctrine: always be moving. Although common to MOBAs and FPS games it can be alien to players of button masher MMOs. Plus, with a stock keyboard and mouse setup, constant and fluid motion can be a bit of a challenge.

I’ve looked over your guides and wonder, have you made one on the controls you use?

        Something like that, yes.

Given the layout of the keyboard and the architecture of human hands it would be amusing to see someone try to seemlessly move while executing skills while weaving light and heavy attacks with a stock configuration 😉

What you assign to your gaming mouse and your custom keybinding would be interesting, as would the setups of others.

Clearly your jump key is always at the read *smiles*

I use the Razer Naga (6 button hex formation) mouse and the SteelSeries Merc Stealth keyboard for ESO. It allows me a nice, natural (quick) fluidity for this game… it’s been very effective for me. I also keybind my Ultimate to my “6” button on my mouse. Effortless! 🙂

I’m curious as to how you got about unlocking your skill lines to have most them 30 or so at level 25? Is it bonuses from crafted gear that allows that or is that purely placing all skills from a line single line on your bar and knocking it out that way?

Just seems like you progress your skill lines a lot faster than I can, though I’m very new to the game so I know that’s part of it.

      2) What I was playing today is Bubble Trouble but I need more experience before I update the build.

Love your work and thanks for sharing. Ditched my NB (also using your buld on that and it’s as amazing as this) to try this, it friggin awesome. Just wanted to confirm the leveling idea on main story, guild q, dolmens and bosses, you usually end up in the right level for the next zone. What you could add to that is all the lorebooks and skyshards.

When it comes to armor, what do you think about the seducer’s set? Can’t say I really feel that you lack magica when grinding but a boss can drain it and I need to top up with a magica potion.

Also, did you stick to this build until lvl 50 or a new video will come soon ? 🙂

What I did was just continue down the same path and taking all passives except the restoring light ones. Still using the same skills at L41 and aoe grinding is not hard at all. I bet you can easily keep doing the same over and over again until you hit 50. Second bar for bosses also works like a charm.

If you use the same gear you can just keep spamming because you have no trouble with magica what so ever.

Hi Deltia, nice build! I’m wondering about the duration of some buffs. Since both Inner Light and Vampire’s Bane give the spell critical buff: Major Prophecy, I was curious if you knew the duration for either. I’m assuming Inner Light is “always on” and that Vampire’s Bane is for the duration of the burning. Any insight’s? Also, I have that nagging question with Structured Entropy… what is the duration of Major Sorcery (spell damage)? Next attack only – like Empower? Or for a certain duration? Again, any insights are appreciated. Thank you for what you do… I appreciate you!

They don’t stack, so if you have inner light on than cast Vampire’s Bane, your crit doesn’t change. Basically you use VB for the DoT. The Empower from Entropy is around 8 seconds I think. It says in the tooltip.

Thank you for your response. The Entropy answer for Empower is helpful… thank you. Do you happen to know the DURATION (not yelling, accentuating) of Major Prophecy for Vampire’s Bane and/or Major Sorcery for Structured Entropy? I’ve looked high and low and no one seems to know… “Help me Obi Wan, you’re my only hope!” Thanks again! 🙂

My question: I am a v9 Templar now and I crafted myself some green gear almost like the stuff you have at v1 – still I am nowhere near the stats that you have… except for spell power – same amount as you have in your video and still, my Purifying Light tooltip reads a dmg amount of 7915 and yours over 11000; how do you do that?

What skills would you recommend on my back bar in that case if I’m still using a destro staff for my main bar?

I do have a magicka based templar with DD in mind.

What i went down to level it fun and easy, and because i wanted basically switch it to heal afterwards: Pure Magicka based, but with a 2H sword – for a reason:

Its fun to play. Fells more action-packed to meele than ranged. 2H because Charge as a gap-closer wich is really beneficial if morphed for additional damage on distance because I start approaching mobs with Aurora Javelin – gaining damage on range + knockback thus increasing the impact of charge. And then im in with puncturing sweep or empowering sweep if the group is larger.

I really enjoy playing the PvE DPS version for the omega templar, but my group often relies on me for some emergency healing in the 4 person dungeons, but AoE damage is well covered by our sorcerer.

I figured it would be good to swap repentance for entropy, but was wondering if you would put in anything else or if the other skills are too important?

Love the build, but have a question.
I would rather roll a Breton (don’t care for the High Elf look). You are using Dark Elf, which works great paired with vampire. In you latest video you use vampire abilities for PvP.
Would a Dark Elf be better if you’re going vampire?
I assume the Breton would be a better caster race than Dark Elf, but maybe in PvP the Dark Elf is a better choice?

Hello Deltia. Is your tanking pve guide that coming soon also able to be used while leveling? I don’t mind fast leveling, templar will be my first character and I ll play in PS4..I ll do every quest and smell the flowers and such.

I don’t want to play him like a “mage” (I ll keep that playstyle for my sorcerer). I want to play him like a “paladin”. I just want to be able to solo delves and maybe some world bosses. I hope your tank build will be able to do so 🙂

I plan to go like this: http://i.imgur.com/MhqdxFp.png until 40+ and then start bumping skills on other passives and abilities.

You cant use “Inner Light” on one bar only. If you toggle it on in your restoration staff bar, you’d have to keep re-applying it. The reason for this is, when you have it toggled, and switch to your sword and board, it will turn off, because it is not in your sword and shield bar. You need to put Inner Light in both bars if you don’t want to constantly keep re-toggling it, and only getting its effects in the staff bar.

Then you released the PVP build a few days afterwards, and the tank and healer have yet to come. Hey man, thanks for the awesome guide! Just wondering though, wouldnt you get higher dps if you use a few dots, such as vampires bane or destructive reach, as well as purifying light? You could stick them on your first bar and then medium weave inbetween them. Would this produce higher dps or would it take away from the dark flare? Because then you could also use skoria set
    Just wondering 🙂

Hi, thanks for the build, I’ve finally reached VR1 (im not online very much) and have re-skilled, I’m having trouble with solo AoE, packs, till VR1 it was just: blazing spear, run at pack, while reflective light, when at stunned pack solar barrage and spam elemental ring (didnt take much spamming) but worked flawlessly.

Now its dark flare and no reflective light, i find the mob are too hard to contain. Do you have any suggestions? I’ve tried to get used to sweeps, but find enemies behind me, constantly getting the spear in the wrong direction, pulsar doesnt seem as effective as ring. HELP? 🙂

Your guides are amazing. I’m new to eso and have decided I’m going to focus on healing. The only problem is that leveling a healer is slow and dull. My question is does it make sense and is it possible to UAE this build to level/heal the lower level content and then respec to your battery build for endgame or even late game? The battery build is what I’m interested in but it looks tough to level that. Thanks

I seem to be really struggling at level 19-20. My biggest issue is once my magic is gone, I’m screwed. I use my magic to keep me alive, for the healing spell you suggested. It could be just my playing style, I’m new and really don’t know what I’m doing lol. Any tips for me? Also, what passives should I use?

    Thanks

Hey guys, so I’m new to Eso and I want to make a Templar. I have a Night Blade so I know a little bit on how to play but I have a few questions. The main one is how do you level up with the mage guild? I really like the Templar builds on here but I see that most of the more magic based builds need mage light.

Depends on a lot of factors. The fire damage sucks, but can be mitigated by champ points and skill. Try it, see if it works you can always “rage” cure it.

Originally I wanted to make a Heavy armor, sword/shield, with some resto magic type character for a tank and few healing spells to sustain me. But after seeing this I want to try this. Can this be done as an Imperial? Or would that hinder me in end-game?

Feels like I hit a brick wall once I reached vr1 tho. Takes forever to level up now 🙁 Its still easy tho being able to solo bosses and dolmens 🙂

Another quick question. I am currently level 35 and loving this build. I understand you recommend using the level 25 build up until VR, but I just unlocked Radiant Destruction and was wondering if it was worth taking up a skill slot from another skill. If you do think it should take up a slot, which skill do you recommend to get rid of? It seems to hit really hard.

Hey Deltia, I have been watching almost all your guides. Very detailed and helpful so thank you for that. I was just wondering about the which race to play with breton or highelf. The breton seems to be the obvious choice for pvp due to the spell resistance. The main question is about the highelf passive that increases their damage with fire, shock and ice. Aren’t templar abilities holy/light magic ? Which means this highelf passive would only work when using destruction staff. If this is the case, wouldnt a breton be better off for pve content ? Since we get the extra magica as well as reduced cost.

As a VR2 Breton Templar I tried this build and it works really well. However, when not fighting a dungeon boss, just spamming Puncturing Sweep works better. Even on world bosses and dolmens. It is really off putting for the class to just hit 1 move 99% of the time. I’ve tried adding the moves that boost your spell damage and crit, but its mana spent that isn’t healing me or interrupting a mob. Am I missing something? I’d hate to roll a new class and start over. Am I playing Puncturing Sweep Online?

I’m doing lorebook runs to level mages guild and while I was numbing my mind to that I was watching the guide videos and was curious if I should get rid of werewolf and become a vampire.. Played since beta ended up rolling an argonian Templar based on looks, starting to regret it.
Tried alot of builds and im still working hard on getting it correct, burining light/sweeps spam is extremely boring, I decided to try out the darkflare, getting 24k crits, tried the x2 wormcult but im still convinced i pull more with skoria sword/axe nirn.

The one thing i noticed was on your PvE dark flare bar there was no aedric spear move for the extra 10% crit bonus, and you still managed to pull 19K. Did you experiment with this at all or is it to much to sacrifice a skill on your first bar?

Looking forward to the PvP DD build

For endgame content on your PVE damage dealer guide how do you balance the vampire negative side effects or does it not really effect you? It doesnt even look like you are using any vampire abilities and you are stage 4. Just curious if the benefits really out way the extra fire damage and slow as crap health regen?

Health regen isn’t a factor and with Champion Points vampire fire damage isn’t a problem either. Just wait until you have high CP or spell resistance.

I have trouble soloing enemies my own level (npcs), so I am looking to move over to a stam build, especially with the new updates to the templars. Is there any chance that you will be putting out an updated stam ww leveling templar build? If you weren’t already thinking of it, I think you should look into doing one! Also, how would I go about changing from a 1h sword + shield and resto staff to a stamina build like your original leveling templar build. Do you still recommend your original templar leveling build with the new updates to the game? I hope to hear from you soon:D

I could have sworn I saw a video of the Omega Templar doing some Veteran dungeons or if it was DSA I am not sure. But it was with the DPS spec and I am almost 100% sure I didn’t see it on a livestream.

For some reason I can’t find that video anymore.
Would love to see some more of it since I am abit unsure how to handle the mobpacks in dungeons.

Watching the healing vid over and over while I am leveling my restostaff to become a good healer at end game but I do enjoy the DPS part aswell.

Can one have enough skillpoints to be both a healer and a DPS or will I have to respec to be one or another?

On the PvE DPS build, if you wanted to add Breath of Life or Repentance, which bar would you put it on and which skill would you swap? And do you have a preference of those 2?

For pvp dps why wouldn’t you do exclusively dual wield? The spell and weapon dmg far exceeds that of a staff and just keep the main offhand the fire destro staff for those who you suspect are vamps? Just a few thoughts, I’m only vr2 right now with a similar build as this but I use heavy and medium gear primarily.

It is the same. I play on xb1 and have loved using this build and it works as intended but i have learned the hard way that my gear needs a major upgrade now that i hit vr1. Vet dungeons are no joke and lv 46 gear isnt cutting it,but anyway at v1 im at 40/9/0 with 1100 spell power and 45% crit and using the end game bars and morphs. Just follow the vids and you will love it.

After looking at the patch notes, I would say that the devs are trying to develop templar healers and leaning the way of magic role. I`m a Bret-lar and if you go that route YOU NEED MAGIC as your primary resource. If you role Imperial then I would make a more balanced build with stamina getting attention. I`m not sure what Lord Delt will say about the patch notes, but I would suggest going magicka when it comes to templar. If you wanna role stamina dps or solo-tank role I would look heavily into the patches they just did for DK`s. They got significant buffs. But if you wanna templar, I would suggest you go magicka or a pretty solid hybrid.

My standard rotation is to cast magelight then reflective light, and then backlash and force shock but,I get one shot by the bosses. I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. Do i need entropy or something? I’m only at 16 if that helps.

Great website. I really appreciate all the effort you’ve put into sharing your knowledge and experience. Thank you. I haven’t even started playing the game, I am downloading the client right at this moment. Mostly interested in end game PvP, but I assume my life will be easier if I can offer the masses a heal spec’d templar while leveling up to V16. Assuming everything else can be re-spec’d later, I just don’t want to gimp myself at char create. With an eye on Update 7, for a Magicka DD Templar is Dunmer still considered best choice?

He initially used a high elf but if you watch the VR video it’s a dunmer for the fire immunity when you go and get vampire. It basically saves your ass from all the fire damage. Trust me, I used this build and pvp heavily and can last as long as anyone else.

    Hey Deltia.

I must say I honestly love your builds and followed almost every single one since my day one in ESO for my Nightblade and Sorcerer however I am planning to run a Stamina based DPS(or tank) Imperial Templar. Would you recommend any build for it if possible or which skill lines should I focus on mostly. I was planning to make an Imperial NB but I’m not sure if that is suitable with the up coming Imperial City DLC. So if you could assist me with a Stamina Imperial Templar build style I’d appreciate it a lot. Wanted to ask from the best 🙂

I want to go for the PvE Healing Templar build in the end. But do I need to follow the 1 – 25 leveling build and then start working on my healing skills or start with healing skills from the beginning? Dutch greets, Dieter

Guessing the answer is yes if you will be playing solo for a good portion of the time you’re leveling up. Appears most of the healing skills apply to your group, so obviously if you’re soloing, you’re missing out on those benefits, whereas the offensive skills you get full benefit.

I guess if you’re primarily grouping from the beginning, you could go straight for the healing stuff since your group will benefit from that, but even then I’m guessing sticking to the plan as written will end up being better. Easier to compensate for a lack of healing ability with potions and such than to compensate for a lack of DPS/tanking ability.

      Just my guesses.

Im a big fan, your videos have massively helped me out since i started. (Thanks)
Question though i originally watched your healing guide video Battery Templar (as im a Breton templar healer) and then I met a V14 the other day that uses your omega build posted on your website … They are very different, one using dual wield (omega) and the other resto staffs and spamming healing springs etc… Can you please tell me which one you use and think is better for endgame content at this current time ? Im V5 atm and understand it comes down to preference, but would like to know if the v14 i met is true in saying the extra DPS is key to arena and trials for a templar healer? One last thing in regards to your Omega PVE healer build you choose Blazing spear over luminous shard contradicting what you said in your battery templar build, please advise which one you recommend ?Many thanks again for your videos truly amazing work regards Roy

Okay Deltia, I have some questions. I understand the whole sword and shield to add more resistance against physical attacks but in Azura’s Star on ps4 NA server most people are going to magic anyway as the main dps style. So wouldn’t it be better to go with what you originally said and use a destro fire staff for the added range? And currently I’m using 5 piece twilight set with a 4 piece torugs. I’m only at VR 6 currently and was considering switching the twilight set to the cyrodil’s light for more magicka. Would you recommend that or should I only snag the rings and go get a 5 piece seducers?

Hey Deltia, on your PvE Healer guide, you have the icon of Solar Prison, but in the detail paragraph below you say Solar Disturbance. Im confused on what to use lol.

And also I found a little typo on your…
“Combat Pray (morph of Blessings of Restoration | Restoration Staff skill line)”

Combat Prayer AND Blessing of Restoration are the morphs of Blessing of PROTECTION; but you have Combat Prayer being a morph of the other morph.

Im not sure if anyone else has already pointed this out, sorry if someone already has. I just wanted to point these out if no one hasn’t. Just trying to contribute what I can to your freaking amazing site! Thanks Deltia!

I’d like to add my thanks – I’m using this build and it’s proving very effective at level 8. I particularly like the strategy of opting for the javelin morph that uses stamina and the use of knockback. Having something that uses stamina instead of magicka effectively almost doubles my total casting points and the knockback prevents enemies from getting close and meleeing me to death. I think it’ll also be useful for grouping since it has the two way ability to fill the magicka DPS role or the healer role. Nice option to adapt to whatever the abilities are of the people you end up grouped with.

I’m currently using the omega pve healer with a vr14 Argonian and I think it works fine. Healing veteran DSA and trials with him.

Race – Best choice is Breton, with High Elf and Dunmer being okay. Even a Imperial is a good choice, but if you’re starting fresh, go Breton.

hi deltia, i wanted to start a new character and in the past we always needed a healer so naturally thought i should do a healer play through to fill the slot. i watcher your templar healer video and saw that it covers mainly veteran level content i was wondering do you have any advice for a leveling healer build starting from scratch or anything?

I just suggest throwing breath of life on your bar and playing as a DPS. You can’t heal mobs to death and it’ll take you much longer.

I am currently leveling a healing dedicated Templar. I agreed with all the skill choices you have made but was wondering what you thought of putting down purifying ritual in the area the tank will be fighting. With the focused healing passive, all heals on them would be 30% stronger. If i were to slot purifying ritual, what skill would you recommend dropping.

It does heal for a lot more, but with CP and gear I can already crit heal for 30,000 Breath of Life (see Molag Kena Hard Mode fight). To me, it’s a bit overkill especially if the fight is mobile. BUT there’s uses for it if you need extra healing.

I was also wondering if this set up would work for the IC update that recently happened. Specifically if the pve damage build would work with some of the pieces of gear being updated to vr16. All I’d really like to know is if a very similar set up could reach about 14-16k dps single target. Thanks again for all your hard work, the community really appreciates it!!

It’s changed, working on healer update first. Basically I went 5 pieces of Kagrenac’s Hope Set, 2 Engine Guardian, 3 Willpower and Torug’s Pact swords. That puts me at 3500 Spell Power, 38,000 magicka buffed 🙂 yeah it can rip some damage still.

Why Kagrenac’s Hope if I may ask? It gives no spell damage at all and the 5th (set) ability is very situational. Also what do you think of the phoenix set for dps?

Indeed! My mistake – I was “betrayed” (to my defense) by another website that only gave the “Resurrection” as the 5piece bonus. I apologize. So you recommend it (for the time being) for dps? And (again I apologize if I am pressuring you – I know you are leveling/gearing/building another toon atm) how about the phoenix set?

    Awesome information Deltia,

I’ve been using your “battery” Templar build as a base for my Templar Healer. I do have a question for you regarding armor. I’m still new enough that I don’t have thousands and thousands of gold to spend on set pieces.

If I was going to have some armor crafted(something like the seducer set), what traits should I use on my armor? All one trait? or many different traits?

My light armor is at 50 already. My Templar is level 41 and still wearing stuff from the warlock set(lvl 20?).

Thanks for all the time you spend on compiling the data, it makes it a lot easier on the rest of us!

The general rule is the three main pieces (head, chest, legs) are all infused cause you’ll get the max enchants from those and then the rest of the armor pieces would be divines to get the benefits from the mundus stone.

Awesome thanks… I suppose my only other question would be, as you don’t use any dual wield abilities, do you take any of the dual wield passives? 4/5 of them only activate on a dual wield ability and Dual Wield Expert increase off hand weapon damage but spamming sweeps would be magic damage wouldn’t it?

    Hello Deltia,
Been following your builds and guides for a long time now,
Standing still on how to proceed, I want a Templar pref magicka but I do not want to use a staff for this build, pref 2-hand or DW.
Which race should be best suited for this?
and is this build even doable.

Your image and info are a little conflicting on the PVP build. Are your attributes set for 52 Magicka, 10 Health and 0 Stamina? The image says 10 Magicka and 52 Health. I’m assuming its not the latter, but I just want to double check.

Hey Delt, my intuition is that this build will outperform single target but not in aoe situations when comparing to sweeps. Is a hybrid build where we have one bar using inferno and flare as you outlined while having another that uses dw/sweeps for aoe situations. Giving no us both melee, range, and great self heals

You get more spell damage and if you’re doing a puncturing sweeps build yes. If you like Dark Flare, Destro Staff is great.

I always get great tips from you, thanks. Just wondering why you like Vampires Bane over Reflective Light as a morph in PVE? I know Bane does more DOT but Light hits and slows 3 enemies.
Also, I hate the cast time on Dark Flare, (I tend to get into trouble just because of it’s cast time) is solar Barrage worth it, or is flare there simply for the major defile, let alone the damage?

I have other AoE and the damage last longer and is more. There’s more to flare than major defile, it’s the heaviest hitter we have and out preforms Solar Barrage hands down.

I’m doing the pvp build of omega. My spell power seems pretty low and my crit is very low also. Most of your builds happen to be critical damage based builds except this one. Is it because this build works better with this setup or is it just outdated?

Regarding your new maelstrom sorcerer 2.225 build,

    1. Why is the engine guardian both light vs one heavy and one medium

    2. If I use tha for the other 5 pieces would I use shadow and thief?

    3. I don’t have any via weapons, so I want to use this build to try and get them. Although I have 501 plus CP, I,m not a very good player

    4. With respect to the retro staff what should be the trait should I build it with and what foundry should I use, I have everything completely researched.

    5. With respect to CP I,m only able to look at the detail for ritual, so unable to see your breakdown for apprentice, tower, lover lady, and lord. This is my last shot at trying to complete
    VMA

    6. The third, I have no clue as to when or where, eg what round in VMA would I make your suggested changes..

Hey Deltia. First huge fan of your builds. Currently I’m leveling a magplar. Final product is gearing towards “bee mode” magplar. As of right now I’m using the omega build. Which has been great so far, but now at level 36 and grinding in Rkindaleft omega seems to be trailing off for me. I can survive just fine, but I seem to be having more success at single target dos, and grinding groups takes quite awhile. Any suggestions? Dunno if it’s me or the skills, but I am not grinding efficiently like the others I see up here. Thanks in advance.

It’s Magicka build, stamina DPS is king. Lay down Elemental Blockade and spam Spears is about the best you can do. We don’t have steel tornado as magicka.
