This Outer Worlds 2 walkthrough will take you through the Saga of Malfunctioning Mechanicals, a side quest in Westport.
Outer Worlds 2’s The Saga of Malfunctioning Mechanicals side mission sends you on the seemingly impossible task of restoring Westport to its glory. Vigilant Hogarth believes it is possible and needs Automech Replacement Parts to make this dream a reality. The problem is, you can’t just waltz into this facility, so you need an access card for it. The access card doesn’t come easily either, as it is in a facility overrun by the Raptidon. There are quite a few hurdles to jump through in this quest, and our guide is here to help you jump over them all.

How To Complete The Saga of Malfunctioning Mechanicals in Outer Worlds 2
Unlocking the Quest
You begin this quest by talking to Vigilant Hogarth in Westport. Hogarth will go on a long monologue about the glory days of the town, and now needs your help restoring it to its former glory. All he allegedly needs to do so is automech parts. These parts can be found in the Euphoria Coast Automech Repair Center, but to get inside, you’ll first need to acquire an access pass from the Ministry of Accuracy. With your objectives now clear, it is time to get started with the quest.

Get the Access Pass from the Ministry of Accuracy
The Ministry of Accuracy is directly west of Fairfield. Enter this facility, and you’ll find it overrun by the Raptidon enemies. Clear your way through the courtyard and head deeper till you run into Inez.
Talk to Inez, and once the conversation wraps up, pass through the door right next to her. In the next room, take the ladder to your right to reach the upper level. You’ll find a terminal on this floor, which you then need to interact with to get the access pass.
Locate Replacement Automech Parts

Head to the Automech Repair Center south of Westport. You’ll be stopped at the main gate, and you’ll then have to show your access pass to get through. Follow the objective marker and reach the end of this area. You’ll find a dead end. Look to your right, however, and you’ll see a scaffolding that you can climb.
Scale the scaffolding to reach the roof of the building, and you’ll find the Automech Replacement Parts up here. Return these parts to Vigilant Hogarth to complete the quest and earn 1080 XP.
