Altaria can be a great Dragon or even Fairy Pokemon (if you Mega Evolve) to use in Legends Z-A. This Pokemon is quite balanced in most of its stats, with decent offense and defense. On top of that, it is resistant to a lot of types. You can find a tier list for the best Fairy Pokemon here.

This Pokemon is one of the stronger Fairy-type Pokemon available in the game. You can use the best moveset and nature for Altari to make it even more deadlier.

  • Moonblast
  • Dragon Pulse
  • Flamethrower
  • Dazzling Gleam

In its base form, Altaria is a Dragon/Flying Pokemon. You should be careful while using it in this form, due to its 4x weakness to Ice. However, after Mega Evolution, it converts into a Dragon/Fairy type, which gives you Same Type Attack Boost (STAB) on your Fairy-type moves as well.

Therefore, Moonblast and Dazzling Gleam will both receive STAB while Altaria is Mega Evolved. Dazzling Gleam is a little bit better to use in competitive matches, due to its ability to hit multiple targets.

Dragon Pulse is a great Dragon-type move to use in its base form. Altaria will retain the Dragon-type in both its forms. Therefore, this move will always have STAB.

Lastly, Flamethrower is a coverage move. This move can cover two of Altaria’s glaring weaknesses. The first is its weakness to Ice, and the other is to Steel (which only exists when it’s Mega Evolved). Regardless, this move will be good for providing coverage.

Other moves you can consider instead are Heat Wave and Draco Meteor.

The above-mentioned moveset is a Special Attack-focused one. Therefore, you can safely sacrifice some of Altaria’s Attack in favor of its other stats. The ideal way to do this would be to use a Nature Mint for one of the following Natures:

  • Modest (+SpA/-Atk)
  • Calm (+SpD/-Atk)

  • HP: 75
  • Attack: 70
  • Defense: 90
