Here’s how you can get Diancie in Pokemon Legends Z-A, along with details of how you can start its special mission and finally catch it.
Diancie, a legendary Pokemon of the Kalos Region, is also present in Legends Z-A. It can be caught by completing a specific Side Mission.
However, this mission will not be immediately available. To start this mission, you will first need to obtain a specific item. This guide will contain everything you need to know to complete the Side Mission EX 1: Shine Bright Like a Gemstone, and how to catch Diancie at the end.
How To Get Diancie in Pokemon Legends Z-A
You must first start the Side Mission EX 1: Shine Bright Like a Gemstone. At the end of this mission, you can battle the Rock/Fairy Legendary Pokemon. To start this mission, there are some requirements you need to meet.
You will first have to claim the Mystery Gift pertaining to the quest. This can be done by following certain steps:
- Open the main menu.
- Head to the Link Play tab.
- Click the Mystery Gift button.
- Get via Internet is the last button you need to press.
You will now be able to start the quest to get Diancie.
Conditions To Meet Before Starting Diancie Side Mission EX 1: Shine Bright Like a Gemstone
Here are the conditions that you must meet before being able to take on the Shine Bright Like a Diamond quest in Pokemon Legends Z-A:
- You must have the Diancite in your inventory.
- This Mega Stone can be obtained through a Mystery Gift event.
- It is unclear which main story mission is the unlock requirement for this mission. However, it is likely after Main Mission 42.
- It is recommended that you do not attempt this fight at any point before this, even if you can.
Once you have obtained the key to Mega Evolving, you will need to head to the Looker Bureau and talk to Mimi. This will let you start Side Mission EX 1: Shine Bright Like a Gemstone
Side Mission EX 1: Shine Bright Like a Gemstone Guide
Once you talk to Mimi, the Espurr will react to the Diancite in your possession. It will subsequently head out of the Bureau, making you and Emma follow it.
After exiting the Bureau, Mimi will head to Autumnal Avenue. Once you reach it there, it will then head to Quasartico Inc. Follow it to Quasartico, and a short cutscene will play out. Following this, it will head to its final destination near Magenta Pokemon Center.
Use the Holovator near the Pokemon Center to head up to the roof. From there, you will need to perform a short series of parkour jumps to reach the highest building and the mission objective. On the roof of this building, you will find Diancie alongside two Carbinks.
How To Catch Diancie Easily in Pokemon Legends Z-A
To catch Diancie easily, it is recommended that you bring a Steel-type Pokemon, as Diancie is 4x weak to Steel. This will let you make quick work of it. Some good Steel-types for this battle include Metagross and Lucario.
Apart from bringing a Steel-type, you should also have a Pokemon that can inflict status moves. Hypnosis is the best option among these, as the Drowsy condition increases the catch rate the most. Thunder Wave is also a good alternative.
If you battle the Legendary Pokemon at Night, then a Dusk Ball will be more effective than an Ultra Ball. And if you have inflicted Drowsy, then a Dream Ball is the best choice. If you cannot capture it after repeated attempts, then the Master Ball is always an option.
The recommended strategy is to apply Drowsy on Diancie, then defeat it with your Steel-type (or put it very low). After reducing it to zero health (or close enough), you will have a small window to toss a Poke Ball. If it is close to zero, then you will have multiple opportunities.
Do not worry if you knock out Diancie. Diancie will simply be revived back to full health, and you will be given the opportunity to battle (and catch) it again. Catching Diancie will end Shine Bright Like a Gemstone and give you the following rewards:
- 10,000 Poke Dollars
- 1x Exp. Candy XL
