Shredder – Templar PvP Build

Welcome to the Shredder – Templar PvP Build guide for the Elder Scrolls Online Patch 2.0.7.  This is an updated build for the Bubble Trouble Templar tank/pvp created a long time ago.  This build is intended for PvP in Cyrodiil as well as Solo play at or around levels 25-Veteran Rank 1.  If you’re looking for something that can sweep through the battlefield in the front, this is it.

I like a lot the eso-skill style, clean and easy to read with all the info we want on passives and armor repartition.

Hey deltia great builds and videos, would you still recommend Imperial for this build? I heard you mention Altmer and Breton but not Imperial.

Not so much since I prefer magicka based racials for more damage, though Imperial is great all around.

Ah that makes sense as the shredder build is so focused on magicka, thanks

So an altmer would be a solid choice?

    Hey there,
Great build! I just started playing a templar, and originally wanted to go for a stamina build with a two hander and bow, but this seems so much more interesting! Is it a problem if I have an Imperial? My bonus to stamina is not exactly relevant any more with this build…
    Thanks!

Not optimal for more damage, but you’ll be more tanky.

How on earth do you get 29k health with so few attribute points in Health, only magic-buff armor enchants, and only one set item health boost (from Arena set)? Especially if your faction controls very little of Cyrodiil?

Cyrodiil non-vet doesn’t factor in attribute points, I point that out in the video.

I know… There’s no way he can have 29k health with only 4 health attribute points. In the video he only has 19k health.

Nevermind, just my browser acting up.
I respecd at lvl 19 and moved my points into magicka, and things are much smoother! Great build, I’m going to subscribe on youtube 🙂

        Hmm didn’t word that right.

How come this is not for use at VR1+ levels? Obviously the Attribute points will need changing but other than that?

Because my Templar on DC faction for PvP is only VR1 now. With many new players returning or starting the game, I rerolled to focus on low level builds and progress moving forward. I can do elite high end builds, but than 1% of my audience will enjoy them.

I am not complaining about the lack of high end VR builds i am asking what stops this build from being useful after VR1.

Im back to the game recently and finding your guides very helpful.
Have some questions, how would this or similar build work above vr1?
And can it work with nord. I know its not ideal class but i love it and want to make it work

You’d have access to different skills and gear so yeah it would change, but the skills not so much. Really you’d probably roll with Seducers/Arch Mage gear or another high spell power combination.

    Great walkthrough and build. Thanks!

Could you possible sum up all the skill points set in the passives as structured as you listed your other things for this build :)?

Love your work and videos to, keep them up!

I’m returning for the first time in 6 months with my v12 imperial temp. I use seducer, willows path, warlock and wrath of the imperium 3 set. I really want to try a stamina build but in pvp it seems like I’m only useful as a group healer. Can you point me in the right direction? If I should just stick with magicka then so be it but I’m kinda lost.

Well you can’t heal with stamina and it’s hard near impossible to properly dual spec. Stamina DPS is king in PvP, but people still need healing in PvP so I’d stick with magicka. Jesus beam FTW.

So I see this is a dark elf and that it used to be an imperial but I was curious if you have an imperial class of any type that really shines. I wanted something that gives you that little edge over everyone else in that build because I got the imperial edition. Does something like that even exist? Thank you again, unbornwolf

True, if you look at bar one though and replace puncturing sweeps for biting jabs you got a nice start for an imperial stamina templar.

Hey Deltia! I just bought ESO (Imperial Edition) for PS4 and started following you! Wanted to say great content m8! I just started an imperial templar, I want to be useful as a healer, but also be able to tank and do decent damage (especially for levelling solo 1-50). What would you recommend? I was thinking splitting Magicka/HP/Stamina Equally. Is that bad or good? Thanks in advance

Thanks for all the good intel, love the site. I play a templar healer (rsham from wow days).
Just tried out your shredder build and im loving it! I had to make 3 changes (mostly because of unleveled skills like 1h/spear) Also i tend to live in LFG to heal…

    Swapped:
    Bone shield for sun shield.
(Dont have sun yet+good pve synergy)
Dark flare for reflective light and defensive stance for a second breath of life. Also good aoe and dot for reflective and no cast time to catch you off guard…Havent unlocked D stance but shield/breath covers nearly all the healing in dungeons.

Phew ok all that said heres my long question…
Could werewolf work as the second ultimate for 1h shield?

    Hots down, shield up.
    Then beast mode.

Saw you had lycan on build, but nova ultimate…leaning to wolfy to suppliment shredder.

    Deltia-
Great guide, love the build, just swtiched to it after playing resto/destro from the beginning. Had to modify 3 things because i live in LFG to heal and I dont have the skills necessary in 1h or ad spear. Just hoping for thoughts on the 3 changes for helping in pve content, as well as mixing in lycan for non heal ult.
    1. Dropped move speed in dungeons for an extra breath of life to heal comfortable w both weap w basicly the 1 key spell
2 swapped dark flare for reflective light, aoe dot dmg is nice, buff, plus skills to give ult makes it better for dungeon trash imo. Plus no cast time fuck ups lolol.
3 swapped sun shield for the undaunted bone shield. The aoe hot and this shield can usually sustain groups with a quick flash heal here or there. Then i can spam spear on trash pulls and we haul ass.
Will this playstyle sustain into higher content?
Could lycan be a good second ult for the 1h bar? Hots, shields, popwolf?

Healing decent at 38 atm. In dungeons im usually pacing the tank and chain pulling groups without much trouble. And i feel like bone shiel has saved my ass when oom on some bosses. Thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.

You can modify the build as you see fit, but the skills I used work best for me. Reflective Light doesn’t do near the damage as Dark Flare and Bone Shield soaks up your stamina.

    Sorry new to forums lol.

And I really like your content.

My question is.. I’m trying to find a way to wear heavy armor and incorporate the rune focus morph into this build.

I’d like to go 5/2 Heavy /light. But everything I read heavy is useless in pvp. I just turned vet rank 1 and I’m in the top 100 on ps4 in the most popular pvp campaign.

But I feel a bit underpowered. Should I stack health and magicka if I wanted to do this? Or just go crazy with magicka like you did?

My bubble seems to go down.. A LOT.

@Deltia, I’ve been experimenting with alot of classes since the ps4 launch and haven’t really found one I love to stick it out to end with. My favorite race so far is the dunmerand class is the templar. I’M used to the final fantasy online class system where i only had to have obe character and could switch classes at any time i wanted. My question is if I rolled a dunmer templar with dunmer getting a racial passive to both stamina and magicka, would I be able to change it up from healer to a magicka dps or even stamina based role on the fly and still be effective in a group or solo? Or even pvp which I have yet to get into. I know it won’t tank as well as an imperial or cast as well as a Breton, but would I be significantly gimped in comparison to them?

I only plan to heal in when when healers are hard to find, from past experience fewer players were playing healers in other mmos. In your oppinion would I be better off going dragonknight and healing when necessary with the restoration skill line? I mainly like to switch between dps and tanking. But heal when a healer isnt readily available. Ugh. I’m just gonna make both! Thanks for the reply deltia, keep doin what you do I enjoy the content.

I’ve played with a similar style for 40 levels and have had good success (got emperor on Xbox), but never thought about the build much – I’m just good at combat. I’m always pushing the front lines tanking and healing while (trying) to do some damage. I like to do a little extra healing though and a little less damage – because of my groups, I’m fine with mainly being a tank/healer with just enough dps to get 1v1 kills.

I am an Imperial, level 10 vampire with sword and board, restoration staff and 7 heavy armor (never thought of using 2 or 3 armor types – do you have a suggestion?).

I find myself often struggling with stamina resource management. Would having blazing shield, defensive stance, and retreating maneuvers help with that? Should I use immovable? Should I include some attribute points in stamina (particularly at VR)?

As a vampire, I’ll definitely run devouring swarm instead of Nova, but I’m wondering if it’d be worth it to use essence drain and mist form. And should I invest some gear in fire resistance?

Finally, because I like to do a little more healing, what restoration staff heal should I use (if any)? I currently use grand healing and rapid regeneration (mutagen).

    Thanks!

My armor suggestions are in here, if you lack stamina go with medium. If you lack stamina, Immovable will only drain you of resources. I don’t use fire resist as a vamp and don’t use it anymore. If you’re a templar, heal with breath of life, no staff needed.

i dont like this build. ive been trying to find a build that might enhance mine but i cant find any. ANY ONE LOOKING FOR PURE DPS BUILD FOR PVP READ HERE:
for set pieces: 4 piece twighlights embrace (craftable), 2 piece worm cult, 2 piece torugs pact (craftable), 2 piece cyrodills light rings. each of these are focused on spell damage. for traits on the piece put mundus stone increased and activate the atronach mundus stone which increases your magicka recovery. put max magicka on all armor piece for enchantment. put increase spell damage on your jewelry.
On bar 1 you can run the duel wield torugs pact swords which gives you the spell damage increase and allows for another 2 piece set to put into your armor. and skills you want to run: puncturing sweep (puncturing strikes morph), radiant oppression (radiant destruction morph), breath of life (rushed ceremony morph), dark flare (solar flare morph) toppling charge (focused charge morph), meteor (mages guild ultimate)
For bar 2 run whatever weapon. can do torugs pact again just to keep the skills for it but no necessary. for skill run harness magic (light armor skill morph), blazing shield (sun shield morph), Entropy (mages skill line), channeled focus (rune focus morph)
passive are going to be too long to type out so basically just put passive anymore that enhances your attributes such as increase recovery, increase max stats, increase resistances.
when in combat be on bar 2 and before you start fighting pop harness magic, then channeled focus, then hit the target with sun shield thenhit them with total dark and switch to bar one then hit them with toppling charge, then puncturing sweep, then dark flare, then radiant oppression. if they are dead but close then hit them with radiant oppression again because is does 300% more damage to low health enemies. if you have your meteor ultimate then hit them with that instead of toppling charge.
But with that armor set up you have a lot of damage. Like my friend right now is a level 47 with 1460 base spell damage. when he hits the enemy with entropy it goes up to 1700 roughly and he runs potions that increase his spell damage and magicka recovery which then puts him at almost 2000 spell damage at level 47. and magicka recovery is important too. my v14 templar has almost 2600 magicka recovery after i pop a potion and channeled focus so i pretty much just cast spells for free. i hope this helped. any questions you have just msg me on xbox. gt is xCaLeBXxX845x and i will try and help you as much as i can. just play around with this set and use the skills to your extent. whatever you feel works for you. my level 47 friend runs a couple different skills but almost the same as mine and we just walk through enemies in PvP.

Picture lists: Health 4 and Magicka 39

Also I may have completely missed this in the build but is there a preference for CP allocation?

Quick question I’m absolutely new to this game and not quite understanding one thing that you did. Free your weapon selection you have a restoration staff but under your skills you have nothing unlocked from that weapon. my question is what is the point of having a restoration staff and no abilities unlocked from it or you just using it for the passive abilities?

It’s for passives and the ability to range attack to gain ultimate and magicka.

Seriously good site. Amazing you keep so much info up with the effort of basically 1 or a hand full of human beings . Nice videos on alot of parts backing up the text input, i was noted to this website by an ingame player when i started to play barely amonth ago. As the RPG fan i am i basically prefer to make my own builds or adjust things he way i feel theres need to. Still regularly i have ben checking out this site. And when i started a Templar a few days ago i came to visit here again. Do i agree on all. No i don’t I know alot players want those pure DPS HPS based playstyles. In many mmos i prefer Hybrid Possibilities. I noticed weapon styles E.G. Dual wield using 15 points on stamina makes spellpower more powerfull then. Destro staff with 15 extra points into magicka. Id love to see som in depth hybrid buildtypes. Cuz i believe a loss of 300 dmg for a spell is neglectible on terms of some added utility, sustainability or even if it just adds to a more versatile experience playing a certain char. I also noted how some abilities on sorc scale with max HP. E.G. DarkExchange restores more.. Disintegration hits at a higher amount..I suppose more classes have HP scaling abilities and for some reason some AP spread out may seem uncommon but more usefull as acknowledged in general. What are your thoughts on that topic??
Anyway keep this up ill be checking in once in a while to search some info here and there. I would have donated some sadly my health doesnt give me much spare to change. Instead i will advice others to come here for some info in the same way someone made me end up here. Sadly thats the least i can do.My kind regards a fellow rpg dude.

Considering swapping HistBark for Arena, TBS, or maybe even WillowsPath. Any thoughts?
