PvP Healer Build HERE
Objective
To create a simple, fun and effective healer for The Elder Scrolls Online.
Healing is still my favorite role in ESO and in large part because you don’t just ONLY heal. You do damage, execute the boss and defend your allies. It’s active fun and truthfully, a lot easier than other MMO’s. Why? Well we as Templars can give back resources both stamina and magicka on demand AND we can heal without Line of Sight via Breath of Life. Even though it only heals two players now, it’s still the most powerful heal in the game.
LET ME GIVE YOU MY TOP FIVE TIPS TO HEALING IN ESO
5. Pre-Fight Buffs – If you want to get a good leg up on the fight about to unfold, make sure you have a solid plan to buff your allies beforehand. Meaning, get Heals over Time (HoTs) rolling via Rapid Regeneration, lay down your Extended Ritual for 25% more healing, fire up Proxy Det for massive AoE burst and hit Combat Pray right as your allies go into the fray. Getting a good start, will help with a good finish. Practice your pre-fight buff rotation.
4. Position – Remember you’re the healer, AKA the Co-Captain of the defense. Make sure you tell other players where to stand and why prior to fights. Why? Well when they stand in red and die, they will blame you anyways. It’s my job to know the fights, tell people about it and what to avoid. Less healing I’m doing, more damage I do, faster the fight goes.
3. Communication – It’s perfectly okay to say “Jimmy, please don’t stand in red by that Gargoyle.” EVERYONE has and will step in red or do something be accident, it just happens. Most of the times, people just don’t know the mechanics of the fights and how to avoid damage. You the healer need to tell them. Also, if someone is taking an excessive amount of damage, find out why. “John, you’re taking a lot of damage have you ate your food, repaired your gear, etc?” I’d rather have an offended John then constantly wipe in the dungeon over and over.
2. Damage – This is ESO NOT another MMO, healers do damage. Your goal as a healer is to do the most damage possible and heal secondarily. People laugh when I say this, but it makes dungeons a breeze if you think offensively first. No I’m not saying don’t heal, just realize that you should be providing damage in between buffs and heals. That leads me into my last and favorite tip for new healers.
1. STOP OVER HEALING – STOP IT, if everyone is at 100% health, stop casting Breath of Life. I’m okay with reapplying your buffs a little early, but there’s no need to constantly heal when everyone is alive and well, do damage instead. YOU CANNOT HEAL A MOB TO DEATH though I’ve seen a great many healers try. Constantly think “can I do damage right now instead of healing?” If the answer is yes, do damage. An example of this is let’s say my party is taking damage and 3 of us are at around 70% health. If my HoTs are up, Ritual is down, I don’t heal. I use my next second to throw a Spear, recast Purifying Light or something offensive. If their heal continues to drop, then I heal. Why is this important? Most builds have some type of healing already built into them so you don’t need to constantly top them off, HoTs will do that. Burst heal with BoL when someone drops drastically then find out why. If you make this one change, you’ll be the best healer in your group.
Skills
Dual Wield (Swords) – For extra spell power, our main bar for healing, damage and execute.
- Inner Light (morph of Mage light | Mages Guild skill line) – This is a must have due to the major critical bonus, max magicka and recovery. Note, that this no longer needs to be double slotted and we put it on our primary bar only. If you have extra magicka, you can toggle it once prior to a fight to get an Empower (20% more damage on the next attack) for a powerful Shooting Star. Once cast, the Shooting Star will also proc another Empower which you can use on Blazing Spear. This is for trash pulls (non boss pack of mobs) where you just need everyone to do damage up front. Even as a healer, you’ll nuke stuff.
- Purifying Light (morph of Backlash | Dawn’s Wrath skill line) – A great damage tool that has can heal nearby targets for a good duration. I constantly keep this active to proc more ultimate, more spell power and it can solely keep my tank and melee allies alive. If you’re not using this, you need to.
- FLEX – Radiant Oppression (morph of Radiant Destruction | Dawn’s Wrath skill line) – One of the best finishers in the game though you should use it around 30% no higher. I still use this as a healer, why? Well things need to die and if my HoTs are rolling I’ll help burn the boss down. Just make sure to block/cancel this if someone healths drops below 50%. Practice clicking block during a beam so it becomes natural otherwise you’ll lose some allies during finishing phase.
- Elemental Drain (morph of Weakness to Elemental | Destruction Staff skill line) – If you’re healing a Trial like AA, Hel Ra, or SO you’re probably going to be ask to run more buffs. In this case, I carry a Destruction Staff on me for magicka users weaving in and out attacks. It’s extra important in the latest Trial where fights last much longer.
- Blazing Spear (morph of Spear Shards | Aedric Spear skill line) – Monster AoE with a great synergy. I prefer this morph over the added magicka bonus (more damage, less problems). Puncturing Sweeps is more damage but the added utility is too much for me to pass up. I even spam this in single target situations and my damage does fine.
- Breath of Life (morph of Rushed Ceremony | Restoring Light skill line) – The best healing ability in the game, period. Make sure to not over use this, when allies are at 80% no need to BoL. When someone drops low, say below %50 now BoL. It’s an expensive heal, so when it doubt try to let your HoTs do the work over spamming this.
- Shooting Star (morph of Meteor | Mages Guild skill line) – I use this on my primary bar for extra magicka and regeneration. You can even slot Barrier (Alliance War) for 10% more magicka recovery if you’re struggling. I’ll use this in trash pulls but during boss fights, the damage reduction via Nova is too powerful to pass up.
Restoration Staff – Meant for buffs and defensive ultimate.
- FLEX – Proximity Detonation (morph of Magicka Detention | Alliance War Assault skill line) – An absolute AoE juggernaut and good single target damage too. I play more offensive so casting this prior to a pull ensures a good start to our teams damage. I’ll recast this in between buff phases when everyone is topped off. I consider this our flex spot on bar two so if you don’t have it, or want more utility swap it in and out.
- Channeled Focus (morph of Rune Focus | Restoring Light skill line) – A massive boost to our sustained. If you’re low in Champion Points or want more defense, use this skill.
- Extended Ritual (morph of Cleansing Ritual | Restoring Light skill line) – This ability got a massive boost in healing power due to the Focus Healing passive. You get 25% more healing while staying in your Ritual and for 8 seconds after. Plus it does a HoT which adds up to our overall healing power. Lay this down prior to a major pull and keep it up 100%. Major Mending is too good to pass up.
- Repentance (morph of Restoring Aura | Restoring Light skill line) – One of the best abilities in the game, making almost all PvE content require a Templar. Give you a free heal, stamina for everyone and regeneration for having it slotted. The way to use this is repent every 1-3 corpses. On my build this can crit heal everyone for 8k with Major Mending up. That is only with one corpse! Now image two or more. Don’t wait until the fight is over to use this, use it every body or so.
- Rapid Regeneration (morph of Regeneration | Restoration Staff skill line) – A powerful 16 second HoT that can also give back magicka via the Maelstrom Staff. Remember you’ll have to spam cast this 2 or more times depending on your parties size but make sure to get HoTs rolling pre and during fights.
- FLEX – Combat Pray (morph of Blessings of Protection | Restoration Staff skill line) – A decent heal with a monster damage boost though consider this your flex spot especially if your DPS are Nightblades are using Grim Focus (same buff).
- Sipirt Siphon (morph of Force Siphon | Restoration Staff skill line) – Another major boost to magicka build sustained, this skill gives us magicka return off hit similar to Elemental Drain. If both are up, magicka builds can sustained indefinitely with a little regen and potions on cool down. Consider using this when healing a Trial/Raid.
- Harness Magicka (morph of Annulment | Light Armor skill line) – Useful flex spot for Imperial Prisons final boss or anything with massive magicka damage.
- [Ultimate] Solar Prison (morph of Nova | Dawn’s Wrath skill line) – A super powerful damage mitigation ultimate with a synergy that wrecks face for any Templar in my opinion. If you need more healing or you’re running out of magicka constantly, flex in Remembrance on bar one, but you need Nova on bar two.
Important Passives
- Burning Light and Piercing Spear (Aedric Spear) – Burning Light adds tons of damage to spears/sweeps and Piercing Spear even adds to our critical heals.
- Prism and Illuminate (Dawn’s Wrath) – Faster ultimate generation is a must along with boosting allies spell power.
- Mending (Restoring Light) – This gives bigger heals the lower our allies health making it optimal to only use BoL on low health friendlies.
- Focused Healing (Restoring Light) – a must have due to Major Mending in combination with Ritual to make our healing insane.
- Restoring Light — Take them all, it matters.
- Light Armor — Take them all, again its helpful.
Gear
Option 1
- Worm’s Raiment Set (AKA Worm Cult)- We can now obtain VR16 version of this set via Maw of Lorkhaj on normal mode. This is the uber set for group utility, 5% reduced magicka for everyone (including you). It’s expensive and hard to get but worth it if you want Best in Slot (BiS) healer gear. Go with all divines traits if you can and I like one regeneration on my jewelry and two spell damage.
- Spell Power Cure – The second BiS setup due to its duration (now 10 seconds) and damage increase to your party. With these two sets combined, you will provide an absolute monster boost to your parties DPS and sustained giving you the name Battery.
- Torug’s Pact – Go with double swords for more spell damage alone with Precise traits for healing only (Nirn if you want to do DPS too).
- Maelstrom Staff – I like precise as well, just make sure you charge this a lot prior to each dungeon run as Rapid Regeneration will proc it a lot.
Option 2
- Engine Guardian – Sustained and stamina matter greatly in Update 7 and I highly recommend considering Engine Guardian. Not only does it flood you with resources, but you can use the corpses as a free Repentance heal. Obtained by completing Darkshade Cavern Veteran mode final boss, and Shoulders through Undaunted pledges.
- Kagrenac’s Hope – 8 trait craftable set found in Fighter’s Guild Earth Forge (after completing story). This is soooo helpful I cannot begin to tell you the power that in IC, you get spell power for the five piece. I even use this as a DPS set and enjoy it’s benefits.
- Willpower Set – Monster magicka and spell damage comes from this set though it can be hard to find. Obtained through Veteran Dungeons and Treasure Vaults.
Champion Points
Blue
I do a four way split between Elf Born (spell crit strength), Thuamaturge (DoT damage), Elemental Expert (flame and magic damage) and Blessed (healing). I do not go hog wild into Blessed and Elfborn because I’m offensive minded. Yes you can get 40k Breath of Lifes, but does anyone really have 40k health anyways? You have to kill bosses, not heal them.
Red
I do 40/40/40 in Hardy, Elemental Defender and Thick Skinned with the left over points 47 into Quick Recovery. Is this the best setup? No idea but it works for me.
Green
I do an even split between reduced cost and recovery (83/84). Some say to go heavy into reduced cost but when I try I don’t have the same sustained. This works for me.
Misc
- Race Choice – 1) Breton for reduced cost and max magicka 2) High Elf for max magicka and recovery 3) Dunmer for max magicka and flexibility if you wanted to play something else.
- Werewolf or Vampire – I don’t see a point for either with this build, could you? Sure, but I don’t mess with it now.
- Attributes – Since our gear doesn’t have any added health, I put 10 points into health and the rest magicka with magicka glyphs. I like around 18k health or 20k but remember, more health you have, the less damage and healing you’ll do. There’s no point in a 40k health healer.
- Mundus Stone – I prefer the Thief for extra criticals. This works well if I switch to DPS as well. For pure healing potential, the Ritual is a great choice but it doesn’t effect our damage. Those struggling with resources should try the Atronach or the Mage.
- Food and Drink – Go bi-stat to get the most magicka as possible.
The Battery – ESO Templar Healer Build
Nice guide, thanks.
Deltia, on console if you do not double bar inner light/mage light you will not receive bonus. Same goes for repentance. I’ve tested this repeatedly.
The effect is applied to the bar you are currently on, regardless of being on console or PC (I am on XB1). Your HoT crits will be calculated based on the character stats at the time of the tick, not from the stats at the time of casting. This is the same mechanic as DoT abilities. Instant abilities will obviously be calculated based on the character stats at the time of casting. As it is a baseline game mechanic, platform will have no effect on the use of these abilities whatsoever.
Yes but you don’t benefit from repentance added regen on both bars. So it makes sense to double bar it. Repentance gives you a bonus just from having it slotted. As does inner light. I double bar repentance but I don’t inner light.
The way I read it is Repentance was only meant to be on one bar and was not being used for the slotting passive. The slotting bonus was only a perk. The free heal and instant Stamina for stam deeps is the only reason I use it.
The reason I said this is deltia says you do no need to double bar these.. is he saying this because active effects do not disappear if you weapon swap now?
He said you dont need to slot light twice because its no longer a toggle pre patch on swap toggles needed to be recasted not the case for light any more as the crit is a sloted passave and repentance is not being used for its sloting passave it is being used for free stam and heals
Hey Deltias love your guides. Specialy this one.
Got a question what Do you think about the lich set for healing. Obviously it is behind worm Set an and and spellpower cure. Butter what Do you think?
The Lich? Monster sustain set? I don’t know, might be okay but I wouldn’t use it over Spell Power Cure or Twlights.
Hey Deltia,
I’m not sure I understand why you chose dual wield, especially since i don’t see you using any of the skills for dual wield on your bar? I have a vr7 templar and I use destro and resto, but mainly want to focus on healing. Can you tell me why you chose that?
Thanks so much, already using two of your builds now, stam sorc, and the specter, you are freakin awesome!!!
More spell power.
Didn’t they nerf that delta? No longer get anything from the dual wield?
Deltia…. Stupid autocorrect
Nope, it’s still good.
Hi Deltia, I don’t think dual wield provide more damage for spell power, it seems in many case that 2H is better. Look at this and tell me what you think. Thanks and bye! 🙂
http://tamrielfoundry.com/topic/two-handed-or-dual-wield-for-magicka-builds/
Yeah that math people out there suggest Two-Handed after 40,000 magicka.
Thanks for your reply. 🙂
If you read well that post he says that it’s not only if you have 40000+ magicka, if you do that math, you will find that could be more viable also if you don’t have that amount of magicka. Read also the answer that he gave to me. 😉
Ty again for your reply, I really like what you do! 🙂
p.s. I’m planning to run magicka NB with Julianos+torugs, when dlc comes out.. I jusy wonder how could I do with no magicka regen on any gear piece.. how would you solve this problem? Bye mate!
The author details a 4-step process to determine whether using a 2H Sword or DW 1H Swords is more beneficial. I added the steps and equation below, but I am thinking that the 40k Magicka is an over-simplification that does not take any buffs or passives into account. The author also notes that this only applies for damaging abilities and not straight healing abilities (besides the healing-for-damage-done abilities like Puncturing Sweep).
1. Unequip your weapon(s) and apply buffs (food, potions, skills, etc.)
2. Open Character sheet and record Magicka and Spell Damage
3. Calculate (0.05 * Magicka) + (0.525 * Spell Damage)
4. If result of calculation is greater than 2035 use 2H Sword, else use DW 1H Swords.
I see this as a topic much like how we both feel about attribute points, Deltia. Simplifications just don’t work all the time as there are a lot of factors involved.
deltia just wanted to ask why so many things are wrong…such as channeled focus is not in the resto skill line
im just trying to fix me build as the crtit% are not nearly what they used to be with your omega healer ..iyt still works but not as good. im going to trying this as it does not take many more skills and i can try again in dngns and pvp
No… it didn’t
-.-‘
how do i get spell power on weapons
how do i get spell power on weapons
which runes do i use to get that
Can’t, typo.
I was using the Rage glyph on one of my DW, and it wasn’t doing much in the way of improving anything regarding spell power. I decided to go with a shield glyph instead since I tend to solo play or roll with players with less knowledge or skill (tanks running with 2H and werewolf, or DPS rolling non-crit builds with DW daggers and resto staff….wtf??) and the shield gives me much more survivability coupled with points in Bastion. I can solo most 3rd tier elites in upper craglorn with full set of light armor and a broomstick backup on the xb1.
Hi Arckaine,
That is a good suggestion actually. I got no enchants on my dual wield nirn swords. I suppose to trigger the shield I would need to swing and connect a hit though, correct?
It says power on one of the weapons how do you do that?
That’s a typo, use magicka return.
They say use dual wields when healing because your spell damage goes up, therefore healing and doing damage more than you would with a staff, Ex my current spell damage is 5500 with a resto staff, but once i switch bars to my dual wield my spell damage increases by roughly 300-500 so it gives you an extra boost, Nobody knows if that was intended when the game launched but they never changed it so we assume it was put there for a reason. I currently use it with my Vet Healer and it really is helpful in that last ditch effort for magic
How do you get 5500+ spell damage? I’m no where even close on my templar plz help
I can’t get anywhere close to 5500 spell damage. I have no idea how this could be. Even buffed with major and minor soecery…
It is because the dual wield gives a more powerful spell power when you compare it to any other weapon its kinda crazy
He used dual wield because with dual wield you get more spell damage. The higher your spell damage is the better your heals are. if you want to heal for an insane amount more and be more significant as a healer to other players then I recommend this build
U get more spell power with dual wield, why? No one knows
Two swords
Make both torugs pact
Now you have more spell damage
If you have torugs pact on dual wield that gives you the 2 item benefit of spell damage without sacrificing other gear pieces
Thanks for the update mate, having geared myself for VDSA and VDungeon farming pre IC the guide above will help me redirect my farming focus for consile IC drop!
no structured entropy?
No structured Entropy?
That Appreciate mundus stone though! X)
Is this for update 7 or just for imperial city? Because I won’t be getting the IC DLC.
Has other changes in it that will effect you and the content is IC.
Quick question: wouldnt the Mage Guild ultimate be better for the dps bar also due to the passive abilities of Mages?
Thanks otherwise 🙂
Yes
Awesome builds dude, will we get a video of this?
never mind……i just found it 😀
Are you going to finish the omega templar build leveling tutorial? I started that build and now I’m lost being new to ESO on console. I’m level 39 now and don’t know what other abilities to unlock.
Just work towards the VR skills and leveling skill lines.
I really like your build, but I’m confused on your Champion Point choice of having 80 points into Bastion. The only skill it looks like you could use it for is the Replenishing Barrier that sits on your sideboard. Is there another purpose of Bastion that I’m missing?
No that’s pretty much it, also for the passives for resurrection. You can go with Quick Recovery for self heals, but the other passives aren’t really worth much.
are going make 1-25 build for this
How about putting cp into Elemental Defender
Hi deltia please could you make a levelling guide like on your NB build (ex. 1-10 10-25 25- above) tqsm this will really help new players like me :DDD
Hi, I already had the skills figured out quite the same, but the gear seems interesting. I am using 4 healer (3 accessories), 4 martial knowledge rest torugs pact. Will kagrenacs hope improve that?
Of course, will power might take a while to get.
Oh right, what does this sidebar is supposed to be?
You have stolen my Sorc build! Change to Molag Kena for the head/helm and then use destro + dual daggers. Alternatively use Torug head with Kena shoulders for builds that don’t weave.
Thinking of going for tanking build for a Breton Templar build. Is that a good choice? Or should stick to healer?
Yes
Deltias – so I have a vr1 templar healer and went vamp for magicka and stamina buffs am also a dunmer so I was wondering how if the Phoenix set via IC would be sufficient then a five piece warlock til I get the healer set ?
Hi deltia will there be an update for bloody butcher? 🙂 thanks
Deltias, why no more worm cult and healer set? Why do u think is the new set better for group than worm cult?
Because it only goes to VR14.
Hi… i have a Little problem whit my magicka temp dps… i cant do more of 11k dps.. i have 2500 spell damage…31k magicka… 20k hp… but why my dps its so low?
Hi, I did wonder, do passive skills from a skill line only work, if I have an active skill from that skill line slotted?
Some do some do not. It will say ‘With a (Skill line here) ability slotted.’ or ‘While using (skill line) abilities.’ when you’re thinking bout buying that passive.
Deltia, Awesome build once again. The main problem i seem to be having is when i got all light arm i find that im just way too squishy (currently at vet 2) how can i get round this?
The updated vertion of the build with hot effects running i only ever have survivability problems of im being focused by the boss or 4-6 mobs at once the tg vertion of this build works rly well imo
Deltia do i have to beat cadwells gold to unlock the 8 trait kagrenac hope craftable set?
I answered my own question thanks.
Hey Deltia,
Love the guides you have put out for templar, i was looking at twin beams and wanted to mix it with this build as i roam pvp with two friends (stamina DK and Sorc (frag out))…
Would it be viable to change purifying light for binding javelin, change blazing spear for luminos shards or dark flare and change solar prism for soul assult?
I was also thinking sun sheild instead of rune focus.
I was wondering what your thoughts on this may be.
You sure can change all of those things if it fits your playstyle.
Hey deltia big fan, i was wondering when you were going to bring the bloody butcher back for update 7 dying to know about the changes.
Oh yes, check out my video from yesterday.
Hey Deltia! Thanks for the awesome guide, really helpful!
I’ve been wondering for a while now, what’s this sidebar you’re talking about? Am I missing some important addon?
Thanks again
Nothing, just a way to say you’ll need to swap in and out abilities.
Thanks 🙂
I’m curious, why would you take erosion which provides no heal benefit over elfborn which would provide benefit to heals and damage?
If I don’t have any spell power potions, would u recomend getting rid of a skill for entropy, or just forgetting about that buff. If u recomend getting rid of a skill then which one?
Hey Deltias, I was wondering would going Sword and shield maybe be a better benefit? I’ve been using your guide and im a lvl 32 dunmer atm or should I stick to dual wield
The 20,000-22,000 health you advised to aim for is that with food?
Hi Deltia! Huge Fan! Any future for another IMPERIAL UPDATE build for Templar on perhaps a viable DPS or Tank alternative.
Thank you!
With the nirnhoned swords do you only get the bonus from them when there active or are they always there?
Hey Deltia, Great site! Was wondering which dungeons the willpower rings can drop from?
Cheers, Swagger
Any dungeon last boss.
So, I’m trying out your build and it looks pretty effective. But I went to make glyphs and I don’t think you’re able to make a glyph for spell power for weapons? I was wondering if that was a typo? Please advise.
No typo
Is it the Glyph of Rage? I’ve seen a couple discussions where it was proposed that the Rage glyph increases both weapon and spell damage by [x] amount for [y] time.
If not a typo then what is the glyph? There’s not a spell power glyph for weapons. I spent about an hour confused out of my mind, searching the internet and asking guildies.
Your video says no enchants on the swords. Why not put that instead of spell power (which doesn’t exist).
After looking around the past couple days, I am thinking it IS the Glyph of Rage. Reports I am seeing (albeit, from year old posts) show that:
1) Healing spell “damage” is based off Weapon Damage and Magicka, not spell power.
2) “Power” in the Rage enchant may apply to both Spell Power and Weapon Power at the same time.
Seeing conflicting reports, combined with my inability to test the ideas (console user), is very confusing… which forces me to rely on reports from my favorite twitch/youtuber for answers.
Yes it does increase power but still requires you to use a melee attack to get the benefit from the glyph if using it on duel wield swords.
Even if it does require a melee attack to procc, weaving in light attacks and it activating on two weapons…. that’s beast mode right there.
Hey Deltia,
How the heck do you get your spell power so high? I have enchanted ring set and Torugs pact swords and I am just at 2400… Add in the 200 for kagrenacs and you get 2600… What sort of magic do you wield?
Whats your Mundus stone?
The Apprentice.
I love following your builds, I have one question, will using two daggers/swords with nirnhoned trait will give the same amount of spell damage compared to using nirnhoned destro staff ?
no
Hey Deltia, just curious as to why you choose swords over daggers? Does the increased damage apply to damage and healing spells?
Hi Deltias, can you provide another option for people who cannot craft Kagrenac yet? With the popularity of those sets crafters are taking advantage and I dont want to spend too much on v15 gear that I will need to redo anyway once I have all the mats to go v16
Magnus will do just fine.
Confused about 2 swords. Couldn’t you get the same spell power from Torug sword and shield? (or is to absorb more magic with 2 absorb magic glyphs on the swords?)
(thanks for all your great guides)
How do you feel about running engine guardian, 5 seducer, 5 warlock with this build? With the enchants being the same?
Magicka for days but underwhelming healing potential.
Hey deltia. I’m trying to figure out what glyph you have on your one sword. It says spell power but I have no idea what the rune combination is for that because I didn’t even know it existed.
thanks, but can you tell me about the attribute points ?
What do I do if I don’t have thos shoulders and helm??
I need the help
Hey deltia great write-up. Quick question, I tried using necrotic orb to generate ultimate out of combat with no luck. Is the energy orb morph the only way to do that, and what exactly causes that to work? Is it the heal?
@Chunkybros – I would probably make them Torug’s pact until I got the Engine Guardian.
does the critical rate affect heal over time “ticks”?
Yes
Hi Deltias, some others have also asked why 2 swords and not 2 daggers or a combination of mace/sword/dagger. I am about to craf the v16 weps for this build. I also got problems with sustain so far with this build. I am planning to place magicka drain on my dual wield in case I am forced to swing at it. Good idea or better to just swap bar and start normal attacks?
Hi Deltia, I was just wondering that when you get the spell power cure pieces, will you use that instead of kagrenacs or is kagrenacs the best for this build?
Yes, I’m missing the gloves of spell power cure is all.
Hey Deltia.
Wondering if dual wield is worth putting points into, for example ruffian gives dmg bonus when attacking stunned, immobilized, disoriented, or silenced enemies, so if I spam Puncturing Sweep it would help?
Yes
No because the tooltip of the passive states that you must use a duel wield ability to get the benefits from the passive. The only passive you should use is twin blade cause that does give a boost to spell dmg and controlled fury if you are using quick cloak in pvp/some pve fights.
Twin Blade and Blunt would be beneficial as well, for weaving and DPS gains.
Twin blade and blunt already gives you a spell dmg boost anyway.
What glyph do you have on your main sword for this build? There is no such thing as a Spell Power glyph for weapon. For jewelry yes, but not for a sword.
Can you please clarify?
There are no spell power glyphs for weapons since with the swords because you won’t be using melee attacks against enemies and only magicka attacks so you won’t recieve any benefit from the glyph.
Delta you mention skills for a side bar. i am on xbox one and dont understand what sidebar you mean
What he means by side bar is that skills he would swap onto his bar depending on what type of fight. For example, magicka heavy fights will call for using annulment over another skill on your bar.
Hey great build! I noticed one issue, I think Rune Focus / Channeled Focus is on the Restoring Light skill line instead of Restoration Staff.
Hi, I really love your builds. Is there an alternative to the engine guardian set?
And I’d like to know why you are choosing only light armor instead of light+ 1x medium + 1 heavy?
Can you please explain why you prefer swords instead of daggers?
Thanks a lot 🙂
I dont mean to accuse you of hacking or anything, but your non buffed spell damage with you resto staff equipped is way higher than it should be. I get the extra spell damage from dual wielding and its passives, but in the video you switch back to resto staff and your spell damage is 2446.
To put that in perspective, I have the exact same gear as you – only its V16 and gold and my resto staff spell damage is nowhere near that much. Something is wrong here.
Mundus stone?
^^ditto. I run 2512 with resto myself.
Quick question, my templar is currently in an imperial (first ever/crafter) for enchanting you mentioned go all health but would you suggest for an imperial?
For Templar healing? I’d def going with Magicka. Is that what you’re referring to?
What exactly are the sword enchants. I almost have this build complete, but I’m confused on the enchants for swords.
I don’t really swing but you could do magicka return or the new prismatic.
You don’t swing? I’m sorry, I just don’t know what glyph to use lol. Can’t seem to find a weapon enchant for that, only jewelry.
Okay so I’ve followed this build down completely I believe and when I am DW my crit is lower than when my Resto staff is out. What am I missing?
What is your crit? I main a templar healer/dps and my spell crit is always 42%.
For higher crit run precise on swords and run inner light on both bars. If you have the light armor passives maxed then you should hit 48% crit.
Okay, so in your build you run engine guardian helm and shoulders. After finally getting the helmet, I’ve realized it’s just not as helpful as everyone makes it out to be. With my vet 16 Breton Templar I run everything the same but I wear molag kenas shoulders for spell power and a torugs pact hat. I run torugs dual wield swords and torugs resto staff as well. So when I switch I keep the spell damage buff. While in dps mode, I gain 1k health. The engine guardian set just doesn’t do anything for those that don’t have problems with resource management. Running 2803 spell damage I buffed, 32k Magic and 25k health is much better for pve and pvp than what the engine guardian set offers. This is just my opinion though. Play style is a big consideration on it too I guess.
2803 spell damage unbuffed
I hear what you’re saying. I just finished the entire gear set by completing Engine Guardian and swapping out my Torugs. It actually nerfed my spell power when I am on staff quite a bit at the same time I cant run my dual wield bar too long for lack of sustain.
Mr Snuffles, I am very interested in the gear you are running and your enchants. how are you getting these super high numbers?
What is the weapon spell damage glyph ?
There is none.
which duel weld passives should i take ?
The last one.
Great build Deltia ^^ I have a question though… With this build is very simple to change from Healer to DPS focus! In PVP wouldnt be better to use the “reinforced trait” over the “infused & Divines”? Isnt your physical resistance very low if you encounter someone with high DPS? Continue the good work 😉
Omega
Thanks for the reply 🙂 It answered my question!
Hi deltia whts the best way to find healer sets or magic ks sets or do they need to be bought
Crafted or Dragonstar Arena.
In PvP impen is really nice against critical hits but infused and divines will give you more of a magicka pool and or spell damage to hit those higher heals. Plus constantly reapply channeled focus/combat prayer for major resolve and major ward. Plus with combat prayer you and your allies will gain minor berserk which increases damage by 8%.
Along the way i have tried different magicka builds with light & heavy armor, with infused & impenetrable traits, so i have a notion. But with veteran 16 “somewhat rare drops” mats, i obviously want to study the best possible combination, because collecting 150mats per piece is …. uff :p I hope Orsinium have a better drop rate in that matter …
Hi deltia. Thanks for this great build. I’ll try it but i’ve a newbee question:
What you mean with restoration in secondary weapon? Which weapon is it?
Do you mean a healing wand?
What he means that there are two weapon bars, the front and back bar. Your primary bar would be duel wield (primary use bar) and your secondary bar would be resto staff (secondary use bar).
I’m trying to decide between altmer and breton. I was told that altmer is the way to go, as templar class skills benefit from the altmer racial bonus, but I’m not so sure this is true. It seems to be that the skills are mag dmg, and not ele, and I don’t plan on using a destro staff. Anyone have thoughts on this?
Altmer if you plan on being a DPS, Breton if you want pure healing.
Why did you go all light rather than 5 piece light, 1 heavy, 1 medium to take advantage of the passives in those categories?
Higher magicka pool more healing.
@ deltiasgaming is there a way to implament vamp to this build. I saw you running vamp on the video you put out today you said “you were a vamp”. Is there any way to be a vamp in this build?
In the dual wield skill line, the last passive “Twin Blade and Blunt” gives a bleeding effect to axes. Does this bleeding effect count as a DoT?
I ‘think’ so.
Great site! Thanks for breaking every thing down and explaining it all.
In champion points under the Lord you have 80 points in bastion for damage absorption, what exactly does this help? Don’t see any shields in this build so I must be missing something.
Also, could you clarify which is better, spell cost reduction or magika recovery, saw you split your points between the two.
Keep up the great work.
Barrier if you use it, mostly for the passives.
Two splits because of diminishing returns, meaning you’re most likely to get more benefit with a 50/50% rather than 100% in cost reduction.
Wouldn’t Bastion also improve any damage shields you might receive from other party members as well? Or just personal shields?
No points in spell shield and no nirnhoned armor? I know they nerfed the nirnhoned trait, but I would think spell resist/nirnhoned should be in this mix somewhere?
Even if not primarily PVP, it’s impossible to do sewers or ic without any pvp in mind.
For a completely new player to the game on PC, which build and guide would you recommend someone to follow? I would like to experience everything the game has to offer, especially group content. Thanks
I’d go with Omega Templar High Elf.
Wonderful as usual. Could you pls provide an http://esohead.com/calculator/skills in order to have a general look of all abilities and skills? 🙂 thx a lot
Click the skill bar.
Thanks for the tips – just something that is a bit confusing, is it easy to switch between omega dps and heal setup and later switch the omega healer to this if I wanted?
I’m a bit confused by the weapon enchantments. For Weapon 1, it says “Spell Power” but I don’t think there are spell power enchs for weapons. For Weapon 2, it says “Magicka Return” but I think that should only proc when you attack with the weapon, and you’re never attacking with your swords, right?
Hey Deltia, I love this build.
When IC was dropped I immediately constructed this and I love it. I have made a couple minor changes that I thought I would share.
First: Dropped Engine Guardian set in place of Molag Kena helm. The extra spell damage was worth it IMO.
Second: I dropped Dual Wield for 2 handed Great Sword. With this gear, the calculations worked and damage skills like puncturing sweeps hits much harder.
I have found that I do rely more on potions for regen and resource management (Alchemy skill at 50 with Medicinal Use) since getting rid of the engine guardian, but honestly Tony (my engine guardian sphere) isn’t really missed.
I also find this build a bit more versatile for moving into PVP.
Cheers,
Swagger
Nice changes, thanks.
Hi Lord, these were my thoughts exactly and I plan to do the same and then just swap gear based on the circumstance. I was also even planning to add a nirn shield to that gear so I can swap one sword for shield when needed.
I was under the impression that a 2 handed sword did not increase healing but damaging spells as opposed to dual wield swords that apply their damage and sp buffs to healing spells. For DPS it is better but the research I have seen shows 2h is not for healing.
Hey Deltia, I was hoping to get your opinion on swapping any of those abilities with Lingering Ritual. With Breath of Life ready for emergencies, wouldn’t the less magicka cost and more heal be worth the cast time of lingering ritual used in conjunction with Clensing Ritual?
I don’t use clap heal a lot but I know others like it. If it works for you, use it. I don’t like that it’s not instant.
I was pretty impressed with myself as a Vet 3 healer Temp as i read through this and realized that I’m pretty much becoming a clone of this. awesome build. Go us!
Hey Deltia,
(If you have Support Level 6) I really recommend using Barrier. This way you dont need to heal for a while and you can still do heavy attacks and keep your teams buffs up. Helped me out a lot more than Remembrance. Barrier costs a lot more ultimate but I noticed that I was saving up Remembrance anyway for the right time to use it.
Hey Deltia! Love your builds, I was just wondering if your current “The Battery” build for a templar healer is current for the upcoming Orsinium DLC? I imagine it will still be very similar, but I was wondering if there were any changes you were going to make.
Yes it’ll still work fine for group play.
Greetings Deltias.
Would you recommend Heavy Armor for our Templar?
Thanks!
For healing? No, unless PvP.
He Deltia, I was wondering if much will change for the battery in the orsinium update.
And I’m playing this build right now, but I’m only level 15 what means I just unlocked my second ability bar. Many of your skills are very high level so I can’t use them yet. What skills should I use fill up the spaces until I unlock them? I really want to heal already instead of making a levelling character and switch it to healer, since I tend to play with my friends a lot.
Deltia how are your heals so good? My BoL is only hitting for 10k. The only difference are CPs. I’m running the same gear all v16.
Benefit to spell erosion?
I go elfborn, higher crit = more heals
Finally broke down and got engine guardian, free repent sold me.
Holy resources, amazing.
cheers
What would produce more healing power at vet 26 (just heals no DPS at all) 5 piece healer (jewlery obviously) or willpower Jewlery and two piece Seducer (i have no monster helm sets)
Hi Deltia,
Is this still the build you are using? I am getting ready to have somebody craft me armor and want to make sure you still believe this is correct. Thanks!
For healing yes, though I like Julianos all around unless PvP.
Do you have any tips in leveling this build? What other skills should I get? Most of the skills you have are for higher lvl players
I suggest using Omega until end game as leveling as healer is slow.
Hey what’s a good dps Templar build
Is the gear in this build focused on pure heals? (For example, if I wanted a little more utility and some DPSing would Julianos be better?)
Yes go Julianos
For CP why are you in spell erosion and not elfborn?
Yeah it should be in Elfborn good catch.
What about using TBS & Healers set with aprenticce and the tower
Sounds like a great combo, but instead of tower Ritual.
Yeah that’s the one i meant but forgot the name lol
Nice Guide!
I play PS4. I cant find a Person to craft this 8 trait Set. Can i go with 5x vr16 seducer Set ? I think its also good for healing.
Pls help so i can farm the mats.
That’s a good combo or 4/4 magnus seducers
EU server? I can craft you kagrenac for a little gold 😀
My current fave is:
5 light armor sets Seducer
2 light armor sets Turogs pact
2 swords (DW) sets for turogs pact:
5/5 seducer
4/5 turog
You get lots of mag regen, max magicka, and 8% cost reduction, all with seducer. With Turog, you get some spell damage, max health, and another boost in your spell resistance! Granted, you will only get the 4/5 in Turog while on the attack bar only, however, you will get the constant Spell Damage due to the two light armors, on BOTH bars, which feeds BoL and Combat Prayer on your resto bar! This is my 2 cents, at least while vet leveling and until you can aquire the more legendary vet 16 gear from Arena, and level 9 crafting sets. 🙂
Channeled Focus (morph of Rune Focus | Restoration Staff skill line) – Managing magicka becomes a non issue if you continually maintain focus plus massive mitigation.
WRONG!!
This skill is in the Restoring Light Skill Line.
Looked for it for 5 minutes before making the realization. 😉
Hi Deltia! I just wanted to pass on my appreciation for this build, and I have a suggestion on skills to use till you are in groups (and will even work if in one, but I’ll show why).
I pretty much am setup like it shows, DW bar 1, resto bar 2. I was using what you’ve shown:
DW
1-Radiant Op
2-Inner light
3-BoL
4-Pure light
5-Blazing shards
-Ult Solar prison
Resto
1-Repentance
2-Inner light
3-BoL
4-Channeled focus
5-Combat prayer
-Ult Rememberance
Now, this was doing really well, but mostly when with someone else. I made a few tweaks that have worked with me both by myself and even in a group.
Both weapon choices are the same, just these are the differences and why:
DW
*1-Punct Sweeps- I realised having both Rad Op and Pure light on both bars was kinda slow. When enemies begin to close in, PS will help handle the mobs, deal great damage AND restore my health. I alternate between mostly Pure light and blaze shards till they get close.
2-Inner light
3-BoL
4-*Radiant Op- Because, finnisher.
5-Blaze shards
-Ult Solar Prison
Resto
1-*Chan focus- i moved this to the square button, so switching will immediately lead right into PS, giving me defenses and dmg/health when combat gets close.
2-Inner light
3-BoL
4-Pure light- i moved this to resources for a few reasons; first, i felt it was too slow on the main attack bar, second, I open with it along with chan focus and combat prayer, third, its on the same button (L1) as the other single target killer, Radiant Op. I just switch to this bar quickly to recast if needed and also popping down chan focus/combat prayer.
5-Combat prayer
-Ult Rememberance
Repentance? AMAZING skill, LOVE it! However, unless we are doing a Dolman or mob dungeon, i dont larticularly use it, and would rather keep up puncturing sweeps for CC situations. Plus, I have to give it to PS that I’ve lived through 99% of fights where my DPS friends have died.
If people end up finding The Battery being slower than needed, just switch up the bars to reflect what is needed for YOU. The way I do this is with Dolmans, run into one on your own and take it all on, see what you spam and what keeps you alive. I found Pure Light was just an opener and when I had time, which was hard being swarmed, thats why i moved it to the back. This works prettt smoothly and has made jealous friends in veteran content areas, “Why is our healer kicking TOO much ass?!” XD
Thanks again for the build, Deltia. This helped my game immensely. 🙂
Oh, also, I like to use Empowering Sweep when by myself on my attack ultimate. The damage midication and low ult cast is great when flipping the Aedric bird at mobs. XD
Yeah those are great changes.
Would this be any good in PVP for healing? If not what would you change Deltia?
Somewhat and depends on your group size. If running 12+ you need massive AoE healing like Healing Springs and Healing Ritual works great as well.
Hey delt what do you think would be better to go for more spell power or more crit?
For heals btw
Crit
That’s what I thought but was not sure thx
more crit is better? why you dont take thief mundus? and/or Elfborn in CP?
Great job mate! Just to say, I bet on Kagrenac’s x5 + Healers x5 + Gardian’s x2(Heavy) ! Just thing less magica is better for healing!
Your “Channeled Focus (morph of Rune Focus | Restoration Staff)” should say it’s in the Restoring Light tree
This build is awesome! I switched to it (from Immortal Templar) on my last respec and haven’t looked back. Keep up the good work!
What style is that kagrenacs hope i really like the way it looks?
Xvykin
Deltia theres no way that style is Xvykin. Looks more like Aldmeri Dominion.
Is this still up-to date with the current patch?
Yes
I normally doing party. Is Healing Ritual is a good skills for party?
Hello. I wanna ask. Usually i playing templar with party. Is healing ritual skill is good skill for party and alliance war?
Not for PvE healing.
Hi!
i have templar hiller 16vr 229cemp
I go only Dungey & trials
Head + Shoulders – The engine guardians set (health & magicka)
Other 5 parts – Seduser (chest & legs health over magicka)
Willpower set, magicka regen max magicka
resto staff + 2 sword
max magicka – 21488
max health – 18036
without buffs
magicka regen – 2331
What is wrong with me?
Is inner light on? What food do you use? And I have 250 more Champion Points that you which gives me a lot more magicka.
it is without food, magicians 27000, 23000 life.
but the trouble is not the case.
spelrezist buff with 28000, 21000 fizrezist but killing 3 strokes in imperial sity
does not work and spelrezist fizrezist?
How to improve the survival rate?
From players? Are you using channeled focus? How about your champion points, fire resist?
focus not use, fire rezist 0
channeled focus use in PVE in Pvp use Unstoppable skill
Ihave cgaft 9 treyt Armor master bild + engener set
many spell & fizz rezist!

to many magicka regen. You have engine guardians set. you dont need so many magicka regen. Go more in Spellpower in your willpower set and maximize your manapool.
if you’re unable to craft Kagrenac, because you’re new to the game, and not in a guild.. What are other set options? Currently I’m only 4 traits in all light armor/heavy
Seducers is still great.
This is a nice build, however there is no leveling guide. Is there any specific advice about that?
I might have found a use for Vampirism. The morph for drain essence. It gives ultimate when using dual wield. Its not alot but it helps.
I use the 5 piece Kagrenac’s Hope but I’m not doing hardly any rezzing. Would the Julianos set me good as a healer. I’m often dps’ing.
How would a argonian be for this build?
Not as good as a Dunmer, Breton or High Elf, but if you like the race play it.
Channeled Focus (morph of Rune Focus | Restoration Staff skill line) – Managing magicka becomes a non issue if you continually maintain focus plus massive mitigation. Rune Focus in this post is indicated as Restoration Staff skill line its part of the Restoring light skill line
IN re to PVP
im finding such a huge disparity in damage done due to champion points.
I only have 12…… as I just started playing again and Im seeing that even in GOOD GEAR– I am hitting people for approximately 2-5k LESS than I am getting hit for with the same skill.– And this is in non vet pvp.
I put every class in there and as am example I will funnel health for… 400 lol, concealed weapon for 1k, and implale for at most 2k……
while I get nailed by 1800 funnles–3800 concealed weapons, and 12k impales.
Is there a way to pvp and still do good damage without the cps? or do I need to PVE to farm CP before I pvp?
thanks
Farm CP.
Upgrade your gear.
Farm more CP.
Thanks for the build. I’ve been working up my templar using this guide for lvl 8 to now vr8. I’m really enjoying playing the templar. Are there any changes that should be considered based on the orsinium update?
Not really, if you have 5 piece combat physician and 5 piece Trinimacs its insane, but less than .001% have that.
Would 5 Piece Trinimacs and 5 piece combat physician be better than your setup in this guide?
That’s a great idea, but sadly I got the two sets and it doesn’t work like it should. The proc says “casted shields” and combat doesn’t trigger trinimacs like one would think.
Do you have any new imperial templar tank builds deltia? Looking to change from dps.
I’m finishing my Templar tank the Wall this Friday should be out.
looking to change my Imperial Stamplar into a Healer… any advice? Will this build work or need I wait until Thieve’s Guild to change?
Yes this will work, I’ll change a few things but the general concept remains the same.
Thanks. One more question. Breath of Life is going to only heal one other person? Does this mean more magica needed? Also, leaving the Rune only last 4 seconds?
Why not use 1 heavy, 1 medium and 1 light armor piece for the undaunted passive?
It’s a good idea if you have good champion points and recovery. You’re basically trading magicka recovery for max stats.
Hmm, do you still use dual wield in offhand?
I dont seem to get the extra bonus for with them anymore.
Yes, it should still work.
I’m new to ESO and have a quick question. What is “bi-stat” good and drink? How do I make it? Thanks.
Bi-Stat means two, so max health/magicka is the best for this build. You gather materials and level up your provisioning which allows you to make food and drinks.
Deltia,
First time caller, long time listener. Good build as always. Only question though is why the 100 CP into bastion? Where is your damage absorbing ability? Channelled focus buffs resistance, so it doesn’t help there at all… is it just for when you swap in harness magicka? Couldn’t those points be better spent equally distributed amongst the 4 Lady buffs??? Thanks and I’ll hang up and listen
It could be spent elsewhere, I had that incase I PvP’d and used Barrier.
Thanks
Hi Deltia, I am still running around with dual nirnhoned swords without enchants like I think you suggested in your video of this build. Now I noticed that you do enchant your swords. Would those enchants not only proc from physically swinging your swords?
What I should use if I don’t have the engine gaurdian helm and shoulder until I get them?
For healing larger groups, like a 12 man trial or even a PvP group, what heals have you found to work best? I already know that I can’t spam Breath of Life for that many people. Thanks!
Healing Springs does work great in larger group content like Trials/PvP. Spam that sucker!
Youda man! Thanks for all your hard work!
Fairly new to Templar healer build. Why duel wield swords?
Why not daggers? Instead of swords sorry me again daggers would give crit bonus. Swords give damage bonus. Just wondering.
Daggers increases weapon critical not spell while swords gives you a flat damage bonus.
Deltia

More spell power.
Is there a leveling version of a Templar healer? I re-rolled a Breton (started with an Imperial) and don’t have all the skills yet.
I just use Puncturing Sweeps and put abilities on my bar to level all the way to end game.
Hi Deltia, thanks for this build, It is great! What appearance do you used to craft kagrenac armor ?
Xvykin
hi deltia
how important is the right race.
Important but you can overcome a bad decision with game play.
Hi i am new to the game and was wondering what passives i take for the duel wield skill line? I am following this build step by step and was curious to know what you passives you recommend taking? Thanks for your time
The last one really is the valuable.
How about the one that increase off-hand damage. Does that apply to spell damage too?
I don’t know, maybe you should test it and see if it works?
Hey these builds are awesome and I am currently following Ignition, Frag out, and Omega. I just want thoughts on putting most cp into light armor focus and some into elemental defender in the lady constellation instead of the warrior. My rationale for this is that as a healer you need to stay alive so that your group survives as well because if the healer dies everyone else is usually dead soon after. Going with the lady constellation along with using harness magicka seem like a great way to increase survivability. All of the passives help with survivability and the last one unchained is great for fights where you get trapped in place. Getting trapped with a major boss AOE can be a death sentence. Plus in my opinion, other people in the group besides the healer should be the ones reviving so that the healer can continue keeping them alive. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!
Hey Deltias, as we know that few Templar abilities are getting nerfed in 2.3 such as Breath of Life heals fewer targets, Healing ritual cast time reduced by 25% and heal reduced by 25% (Basically cost went up by 25%). etc. Will you be making any changes to the build?
Yes, main changes is Purifying Ritual or extended are a must and Healing Springs will make a comeback.
I am currently using the paladin from tamriel foundry. Imperial Templar healer tank and gutted of the birds as I only use it for dungeons. But now getting used to using healing springs because it stacks and I can use it about 30-35 times before my magika runs out.
When you stack extended ritual with healing springs stack phazes that were pretty resorce intencive become jokes
Deltia rune focus isnt under resto staff or atleast on ps4 eso what would be a good replacement
It’s under Restoring Light Templar ability.
You guys talk about healing springs? Is this the blood alter from undaunted line?
Healing Springs is the a morph of the first restoration staff skill.
Great guide thanks but where would you allocate attribute points? I’m fairly new to ESO and want to make sure I get the best out of my healer thanks
He said put all points into magicka
So my understanding for having duel wield is just souly for the 5% weapon damage increase. So I gues my question is why wouldn’t I rather use sword and shield for the sword and board passive for 5% weapon damage and 20% blocking plus the extra armor from having the shield? Just wondering because I feel that you have an answer for that I just don’t know what it is.
Because dual gives a hunk of spell power along with the 5% damage (also zos needs to clarify if it’s 5%per sword or just 5%for 2 swords it confusing) sorry if there are typos I’m currently typing this at 5:18 a.m on a iPad
City of Ash. I was down to the last boss with this build. 3 high dps high durable sorcs… We got the boss down, but couldn’t clear the dungeon. I couldn’t revive anyone, kept turning to stone… took 107K one hits. I put 100 champ pts into elemental, but I only took more damage with the one hits 204k. Help!!!
Same with White Gold, crazy
a tip I’ve taken for vcoa is to stay on the middle platform for the first bit and the 3rd for the second the boss more or less takes a crapshoot on a target for freezing I find distance helps also when resing keep some freaking distance lot of the time I see people get killed because they underestimate how far you can res some one I recommend having a friend commit naked suaside to get a feeling on the range as for vwgt fight knowledge +experience is priceless some times I find some friends and scale it low just to practus the fights and get a feel for it #valkyn is a stonehot killer
How is this build now with Thieves Guild update
Doesnt Reflective lights and its morphs give the same critical rating boost as Inner light. With only difference on a very short duration but with having a dot up and using it in between other attacks. I could see 5 % magicka as a bonus though. Maybe in some situations having that other Dawns wrath ability with 20 % dmg increase on most attacks forgot the name. Will be helpfull in aoe situations. What inner light gives a downside for me is that it makes occupy more slots and feels as if we limit ourselves to other abilitys i felt the same playing sorcerer. Not that you can help that becuz its due to the way Zenimax designed magelight.
Although the reflective light and its morphs may have gotten that critical chance increase in the recent patch im not sure because i didnt play templar before Thieves Guild.
Scaring off someone close with an attack with dot that can be morped into an aoe spell up close and 20 % increase on next ability with the skill below reflective may come in handy though to keep distance or cause confusion and small pressure as healer a lil. Or finish off some low health adds especially on the dual wield bar since it adds to close situations.
Hies Deltia, First of all I wanna thank you for this guide, it has been a really good help during my healing time on this game. I play on console so I haven’t got the opportunity to test the BoL nerf. Is there any heads up you could give us about it? From what I read you are saying to make purifying a must right? So you are thinking on stacking Healing Springs along with PR so we don’t depend that much on BoL?
hello, meanwhile congratulations for the published guide, utile.poi really wanted to ask, as shown in the guide are only 300 points champion, the last 201 points, where should I put them?
Thanks you for All your tips. Deltia we really need you for a update of this build without BoL. Please .
I know, been taking a break getting ready for my baby. I’ll start fixing this stuff.
hi, how did u get side bar on templar? isnt it posible only on sorcerer?
Hey Deltia,
Thieves guild is now out, are you Thinking on making an up-dated version on the Battery build?
iv noticed you have done DPS stam and magica but not healing.
Cheers.
New patch/DLC and new build for templar healer?
Thieves Guild update? Don’t need s video just would like to know how this changes specifically
This build is solid and does not need huge changes for Thieves guild. BoL only hits 2, so with teams who cannot handle damage you may see it auto hitting players other than you, which can cause issues, but for the most part it is not a huge deal. It makes this move more of a correction ability rather than a spam (for PVP and PVE.)
To correct, just add an AOE heal or some over-time heals on your staff and you’ll be fine.
Champion points I went with lady over lord w/ thieves update as the direct mitigation seemed more efficient to me. (Updates from thieves are not yet built into his tool so you will have to check patch notes or actually read the tips in game to know what I mean. )
One other big change is the nerf to resurrection boosts. ZOS flipped them to be multiplicative rather than additive. (IE 20% and 40% boosts now yield a 52% total reduction rather than a 60%)
I would curious what Deltia suggests, but I think you will see Templar heals branch away from Kagrenac’s now as the set is redundant, and fold back to spell power/regen sets.
Just getting the thieves guild update on console. So this is still competitive for pvp group play?
Just got the new dlc on console. So this is still competitive in pvp group play?
Downloaded in one minute… I’m jealous.
Deltia posted https://t.co/0DykrFLtg6 last week. He varies slightly from the post here, and I still like AOE heals over pure BOL for large group (like PVP) but he still looks very competitive to me.
I run more of a DPS Templar but often end up healing a fair amount, so I use Juliano’s w/ Shadow Mundus (in place of Kag, throw on 2-3 impenetrable traits too)
Utilizing spell power pots (power+regen+crit) frees up a lot of room on your bar and with that triple running in tandem with the set you should have room and power to hit hard with both heals and damage.
Every build and every day is different, but what Deltia wrote here is solid and still very feasible.
Deltia, congrats on Maximus! He is lucky to have an intelligent father who cares for him. You’ll be an amazing dad.
for the race: it shows dark elf when i click on skills at top but in your options you say high elf or brenton. I want to go high elf or dark elf. which one would i choose?
I’ve been following the Omega build so far (at lvl 31 now) and am thinking of switching over to more of a healing role end game.
Would it be a good idea to switch to a restro staff on 1 bar now to get that leveled, and slot in the abilities as I get them, or won’t this build do enough DPS for leveling?
Fairly New to ESO, xbox console player, looking to revamp my 49 Templar and in this direction. Two questions; Is this setup still solid for console and today?, and why the dual blades? Are they essential or could they be say swapped out for two handed without losing efficiency?
-Thanks
P.S. – Already revamped my mage to your Ignition Mage build, works great, thank you!
It still works but needs a slight tweaking.
Dual Swords for spell power.
Gotcha, I’ll give it a try, thank you!
Hello Deltias, I have been a long time fan of all of your videos in Elder Scrolls. When I need to learn something, you are the guy I go to watch. Unfortunately, the one thing I truly need is a detailed step by step battery healer build. I’m talking about what to put in each level. Like your Omega Templar build. This is the one build lacking on YouTube and would make the game better as a whole considering that people will almost always have a great healer build. I doubt you will read this, but this would truly make my year.
I read this Trevor and thanks for your comment. The problem with leveling as a healer is you have no one to heal the majority of your time playing. When you do play group dungeons, often times you can heal that just with Breath of Life alone. So that’s why I haven’t invested in making a full on build about it. But I will update the Battery today.
Hey deltia I was going to come and ask about this today.
A quick question, is the TG update the end for the imperial Templar healer? I mean the main “get out of jail free card” breath of life has been nurfed and if you had a bad group you can’t heal fast unless you have lingering ritual or a resto staff. I currently have a v16 imperial temp that is just sat as my crafter purely because I run with a group of sorcs and nightblades and being a sorc on my alt there isn’t a need for it in pve. Would this build still be viable in pvp/e after you update it?
Hello Deltas great vid today! I was wondering if it’s better to use your omega Templar build to level then if it is possible switch to a your battery build just to level up faster? And also is a Breton better then a high elf for a templar?
Yes level as a DPS primarily. Breton is great for PvP with spell resist but pure damage High Elf is great. If you plan on being just healer, I’d go with Breton.
Do you have the build before you updated this in the past 12 hours saved elsewhere? I was using it while I leveled up.
oh it seems there is an update with build. BoL seems removed from second tab. It seems risky for me, im playing eso last 1,5 months. and little bit newbie. When you swap weapon and someone takes huge damage reswap and using BoL seems risky for me. and ultimates seems changed. really interesting i will try out this build this evening the last one actually were working great for me. thanks for update and thanks for you are sharing your builds to us. as a newbie, you helped me much. thanks.
Yeah if that doesn’t work for you, drop Proxy Det and replace with double bar Breath of Life. It takes awhile to get use too and anticipate damage.
When i first changed to tg update for this build i poped combat pray and suprise that got them out of the danger zone was not a heal to full like bol but with hots running got back to the safe zone for hp
Can you leave a word on the recommended health value a breton templar should have and where these come from as i dont see any health buff in your gear (expect 1k from Torug’s).
It should be in the guide, around 18k health.
Well i dont understand where this health is coming from when i put all my points into magicka and my gear has no health bonus.
501 CP adds max stats.
Huh? Never heard of that. I get a bonus when i reach 501?
Ah found the answer i guess. For every point in a CP category i get a health/stam/mag bonus.
It is my understanding that it is a nominal bonus for each point APPLIED to the applicable constellation. Warrior=Health, Thief=Stamina, Mage=Magicka.
ooouuch don’t like the thin italic font, its very hard to read
Strange it changed to italics and I can’t change it….oh wordpress
Would you also put puncturing strikes as a flex for a few abilities
Puncturing Sweeps? Yes if you want a lot of offense.
Another excellent build, Deltia. What set (in addition to Kags) would you recommend if we’re still leveling? My healer is V1.
Magnus
What are some abilities on this build you swap out and some you would swap in for pvp ?
Are you sure about having to slot inner light once? I just did a test on this and buff does not not stay up on second bar.
Inner light only gives crit for which bar you slot it.
Checked this again and you lose both major prophecy and the 5% magicka on second bar if inner light is not slotted twice.
Inner Light is working as intended in the build. That’s why Deltia considers the Resto staff bar a “buff” bar. Remember, Proxy Det is a flex spot if you’re concerned about inner light.
Hey deltia ive taken a likeing to the healing that combat prayers provides along with its buff as when i refresh it it gets people out of the danger zone sorta a mini bol what do you think of it? I think its nice since i no longer double bar bol in tg
Channeled focus grants major mending now since TG update. It was not included in patch notes nor tool tip. Major mending + mitigation + magicka regen (with its reduced cost) makes it one of the very best Templar moves IMO now. A Templar sweeping on a rune can solo half the non-vet dungeons now. Sad to see it not included on this build anymore.
Molten weapons now grant major sorc to the whole team now as well? Odds of getting an NB running grim and/or a DK running molten seem high enough these days that combat pray feels redundant.
Can you post your unboosted (or boosted with note) final stats on this? I follow the current trend of nirning an item or two (typically belt) to increase resistance as losing one divine for huge mitigation seems beneficial at lower resistances. Thoughts?
This looks like another incredible build, nice job.
I agree and would like to bump this comment. Channeled Focus has been a regen/survivability must for a while. I’ve been watching the video and didn’t notice an explanation for its absence. If you would include it, what would we swap for? Flex spot? Thanks, Deltia.
Proxy can be swapped out.
I’m using Healing Spring currently for non-vet PVE dungeon. Is rapid regen much better than Healing Spring currently?
I think so, Healing Springs is great for sustained but often times its overkill to have someone just sit there and spam it. Try different combinations.
Why u have no real magika support in ur build? Allways drain ( not only in raids) and mystic Orbs . I think ur magika DD s will lack sustain when their equip is build on full damage…
No magicka support?
1) Rapid Regeneration returns magicka
2) I talked about Elemental Drain being swapped in for Trials
3) I talked about Siphoning Spirit being swapped in on the backbar as well.
4) Worm Cult gives everyone 5% less magicka cost.
Mystic Orbs I think is a waste in terms of sustained and space on your bar. Four things to optimize magicka is plenty for a normal healer.
The Maelstrom staff’s magicka return is only to the caster–i.e., to the healer. It offers no sustain for the rest of the group.
Orbs are nice, but I agree that they are situational. There are some places (vMoL, some of the really big vICP pulls) where I’d use them, though. I usually ask the DPS what they need and if they’re having sustain issues.
Great guide as always; what alternative sets would you recommend using while one grinds to get Worm Cult/ SPC sets?
Kag is good but there’s really no 5 piece jewelry that would work so a 2 piece head set or 4 Magnus and Willpower.
Where did you (can I) get the necklace of the worm? I have been running MOL since thieves guild came out, talked with dozens of people bout it, and no one has one, seen one, knows anyone who has one or has even heard of one. I know it is supposed to drop in MOL. I have 2 rings of the worm VR16 but can’t find the necklace any where. Have been checking guild traders for as long as thieves guild has been out and can’t even find any level Worm necklace. I’m beginning to think they don’t exist, but you have one. Any help would be appreciated
What are your thoughts on undaunted mettle for vet templar healing?
Oh I think it’s great for anyone especially if you have a 5 1/1 setup. The latest build uses all light due to set pieces that’s why I don’t use it.
How does twice born star stack up with say atronarch and the thief stones? Or does the spell power of kag’s hope stronger? Looks for a more flexible set and tbs seems to fit the bill.
No Magicka recovery, No Spell Power? And while the healer should not be rezzing, the 5 piece of Kags is situationally awesome. TBS would cause deficits in stats like SP/ recovery for a healer, though you may be able to partially make up for them in Jewelry, your racial passives and CP bonuses are reliant upon stats such as Spell Power and Magicka Recovery which are found in your gear/jewelry. I suppose it would have to be a crit healing build but TBS is more appropriate to DPS builds that are reliant heavily upon crit dmg.
It does but I don’t find it effective.
Hi, could you please tell me a basic leveling build for the healer Templar as i would like to heal friends, and get through pve questing and join dungeons on the way! thanks
Lvl as a dps but slot the skills you have for dungons bol is base line temp skill and resto core skills are goten early on
Any tips on gear for when I don’t have access on Spell Power Cure or Worm Cult (or any other non-craftables)? I’ve kind of been playing solo so far but love to try healing in a group now, I just don’t know what gear to get for starters.
Can the shroud of the lich set work with this build style , maybe 5 Julianos 5 lich on back bar ?
Yes that’s a great combo!
ive taken to hording soul gems desided to ask round how many gems is to many i got 5 stacks in my bank and 2 in my mains inventory ( i may have a problem)
Will this build be great in pvp as well thanks
This is my PvP healer build – deltiasgaming.com/2016/04/07/warden-group-pvp-healer/
Im a healer and i use resto as my main bar, would the redistributor set be good? As i am constantly at full health and using resto heavy attacks wich i do alot of will restore health thus making the redistributor proc. If it would work id be using redistributor and engine guardian.
I don’t find it effective.
So first off delta, you got me hooked on healing Im loving it but i think i have a problem. When i first made my main character it was based on a different build The Harvester. So as of right now im an Imperial templar. Is this a bad race to try to use this build? Ive pull all my attributes into magicka to balance it out. Should i just make a new character and change this back? Because of this i consider myself a dps more than a healer. I feel like a tanky dps/healer but im still very inexperienced. Only just got this game 6 months ago.
If you like it, play it.
I was wondering if combining 5 peaces of the worm cult set with 5 peaces of the sanctuary set would be a viable option for gear as a Templar healer?
I was wondering after the DB update if a combination of 5 peaces of the worm cult armor set with 5 peaces of the sanctuary set would be a viable option for equipment. I set my Breton Templar up with such a combo last night and it looks cool, but I wanted to know if it was a good idea?
Also being a little lower in Champion points, I was wondering if you would suggest investing more in curtain areas before others or balancing them out at first?
Is Sanctuary now vr16 or 160 CP? If so yeah….
I could only find CP 50:(
I just finished watching your Tanking tips and noticed that at the end you run down a list of your current builds. Maybe I missed it, but I did not notice a your Battery build listed there. Is this a build you plan on updating?
I have worm cult gear and will power but don’t have Spell Power Cure set and alternatives that you would suggest?
When update (Brotherhood DLC)?
Hey Deltia, love your guides. If I’m running essence of spell power pots constantly (47 second duration, 45 second cooldown) giving me major sorcery, prophecy and intellect, should I trade inner light out for something else?
No Inner Light is for max magicka, aka more healing.
Will you be remaking a new one for the Dark brotherhood update? I love this build
Yes waiting on two pieces of Twilight Jewelry.
Is there a big gap in terms of healing and damage capabilities of an Imperial healer compared to your recommended three races? Thanks, love your videos
For doing dungeons and what not, not much. For doing high level stuff like 500k+ VMA runs, Vet Maw, yeah huge difference.
would 5 worm, 3 willpower, 2 torugs and engine guardian work together?
forgot to say or should I just keep kagranacs instead of the worm?
Yes
It word work but Spell Power Cure is a much better five piece since you can do wormcult with jewelry.
hi deltia, i dont see focused healing under restoring light passives. pls advise. tyty
Channeled Focus
Is this still good post dark brotherhood
I know you have previously said that you intend on updating this build after obtaining a few more items. Now that Shadows of the Hist has been announced, with the anticipated drop day just a little over a month off, should we still expect an update to this(and other) builds before the update? or will you hold off until after the update drops with the updated new race passive skills?
What would be a good raid load-out?
Mystic Orbs, Elemental Drain, Spirit Siphon and healing springs.
Thank you, also to you have a Vma Templar build?
I have not completed the required dungeons, arena’s etc in order to acquire items that make this build so strong. This is a list of craftable items, that can be used as a transitory set until you can farm these items. It is based on gleanings from Deltias’ many pages. I hope its approved and useful by others as well.
ITEM, WEIGHT, SET, TRAIT, GLYPH
Head, Light, Magnus, Divines, Magicka
Shoulders, Light, Magnus, Divines, Magicka
Chest, Light, Kagrenac’s Hope, Divines, Magicka

Correction to my last.

Hi all,
What do we think about the combat physician set for this build ?
Thanks
Not worth a 5 piece when shields are random proc and it has cool down.
Hey Deltia, love your guides mate. What gear sets do you recommend now for temp heals after DB patch?
Same, SPC Worm SPC Twilight or SPC Infallible
Is this build still the same after veteran rank removal / dark brotherhood?
I tried healing for the firs time in random dungeons and this made it pretty easy
Hi, thanks for nice guide!
I wanna translate “The Battery” build into Japanese for Japanese players because I love this build & I want the Japanese healers to be good at healing allies.
Could you give the permission to me?
Sure post away and thanks.
Hey man. love the build. You said that you like to hit about 18-20k health… how are you doing that with only 10 points into health without added enchantment? just with bi stat food?
Max CP adds stats.
I’m not sure I follow. Can you elaborate please?
You get more stats per each champion point you have. I assume you have less than the max.
So should i double bar inner light and Repentance?
Just Inner Light
If you were to run this build using only crafted sets/items which sets would you go for? Also when will a new update for this be released i love this build!
Kags and magnus.
Right now I’m running 5 pc seduced 3/4 pc magnus depending on if I have my swords or staff out
Would this build work with an Argonian now after the recent updates?
Yes it’s the best.
Thanks for the build, Deltia. I’m just starting out with the templar and would like to follow ur guide, but i’m not sure about how to spend the skill points i receive now (i’m only lvl 7 now) before i can get to the point where i can use the skills you’ve mentioned here. I.e where should i spend the skill points now? untill that skill is leveled enough to unlock the skills u mentioned. Thanks
Mainly Aedric Spear passives and Light armor, then racial.
Hi Deltia, I love all your builds! :] Quick question, what mundus stone, glyphs or gear should i be using since I’m a vampire? I just got cp38, I don’t usually die often but i do have a couple “oh crap” moments.. I’m currently using The Steed mundus stone because I’m lacking health regen. I’m still not sure if that’s the right way to go. I don’t know where do get all the cool gear like Seducers and such (first character ever). Any suggestions?
Thanks~
Same without vampire. That information is in this guide. Just use Harness Magicka for protection.
Deltia you are the man! Your guilds get me through and I’m a super good healer now because of you. I have a question about my health. I’m at 16k right now but trying to get to the 18 to 20 you recommend. My cp is only 340 and I did put 10 points into health. The remaining cp I need for the current 531 cap will give me 2k health? Where do I get this missing health from?
Undaunted and racials might give you more.
Is this still a working build?
I want to thank you for the guide and as a new player thank you for actually listing the base skills so it’s easier to follow than 99% of the other guides out there.
Thanks a lot!
