This guide shares the Magicka Templar (Magplar) build I used for completing both Veteran Maelstrom Arena and Veteran Vateshran Hollows with just two buttons and an ultimate. The purpose was not to flex, but to explain to folks basic mechanics of the Elder Scrolls Online. If you know the basics, you know 99% of the game. Skills
Harness Magicka (morph of Annulment | Armor/Light armor skill line): A shield that absorbs damage for 6 seconds and helps you restore magicka when you take damage. This skill scales (gets more powerful) with your max magicka stat so you’ll want to focus on that as a priority via gear and mundus stone. This gives you a “oh crap” panic button in between using your main spammable Puncturing Sweeps. This just chews up all types of damage making magic based character very easy to use.
Puncturing Sweep (morph of Puncturing Strikes | Templar/Aedric Spear skill line): a spammable damage ability that deals magic damage to enemies and heals you for a percentage of the damage done. This is the most amazing ability in ESO for newer players because of it’s healing potential. Throttle down and hit this over and over trying angle it for the most targets and stay alive WHILE doing damage.
Shooting Star (morph of Meteor | Guild/Mages skill line): burst ultimate with good damage over time if stationary target. I used this in VMA beacuse it helps with boss burst allowing you to breeze through the fights. I do swap this out for Crescent Sweep during Vateshran’s finale boss.
- Crescent Sweep (morph of Radial Sweep | Templar/Aedric Spear skill line): great damage ultimate that has very low cost.
All I did was using a combination of Sweeps and Shielding when taking pressure. I used dodge rolls frequently when I have about 10,000 stamina as a way to avoid attacks without using magicka. This is why the Templar is great, one button can carry you through the toughest solo content in the game.

WHY? It offers the most critical chance for a 1 piece item.
- [FLEX last boss Vateshran] Zaan: helm found in Veteran Scalecaller Peak, shoulder Urgarlag Chief-bane’s undaunted chest. Drop the Mythic and Slimecraw for Zaan’s extra single target DPS.
- (1 item) Adds 657 Spell Critical
(2 items) When you damage a nearby enemy with a Light or Heavy Attack, you have a 33% chance to create a beam of fire that will connect you to your enemy as long as you remain within 8 meters of them. The beam deals 305 Flame Damage every 1 second to your enemy for 6 seconds. Every second, this damage increases by 100%. This effect can occur every 18 seconds and scales off the higher of your Weapon or Spell Damage.
- (1 item) Adds 657 Spell Critical
WHY? last boss you’ll need massive single target pressure in Vateshran. This combined with light attack weaving can make or break your fights. You won’t need max stats because of Vateshran mechanics making it a perfect swap later in the clear.
Perfected False Gods: obtained in Veteran Sunspire trial or normal for non perfected
- (2 items) Adds 657 Spell Critical
- (3 items) Gain Minor Slayer at all times, increasing your damage done to Dungeon, Trial, and Arena Monsters by 5%.
- (4 items) Adds 657 Spell Critical
- (5 items) Adds 129 Spell Damage, Reduces the cost of your Magicka Abilities by 8%. When an enemy you recently damaged dies, you restore 0 Magicka and gain Major Expedition for 8 seconds, increasing your Movement Speed by 30%. These effects can occur once every second
WHY? absolutely insane resource sustain AND mobility which is exactly what you need solo. Flex with Withered Hand or Vengeance Leech if you lack FG.

- Dragonstar Arena – Sturdy Silver Prongs Lead – Dragonstar Arena last chest after endboss
- Imperial City – Carved Signet Base Lead – Imperial City Upstair Bosses
- Blackwood – Warm Asymmetrical Ruby Lead – Oblivion Portal final Chest
- Cyrodiil – Weighted Spiked Bridge Lead – Rewards from the Worthy Mail Box
- Craglorn – Wide Barbed Shank Lead – Anomalies in Craglorn in the reward treasure chest, Nirncrux Mines
Set bonus
- (1 item) Gain a persistent stack of Escalating Fete every 2 seconds you are in combat, up to 30 stacks max. Each stack of Escalating Fete increases your Maximum Stamina, Health, and Magicka by 88. You lose a stack of Escalating Fete every 4 seconds you are out of combat.
WHY? Because the max stats during constant action arenas outweighs the healing of Pale Order.
Medusa: obtained in dungeon Arx Corinium

- (5 items) Adds 892 Spell Critical, Gain Minor Force at all times, increasing your Critical Damage by 10%
WHY? pound for pound the simplest/best five piece that you can run for the average player. Adding tons of critical chance a long with critical damage making it a staple in end game PvE.

- Treasure Hunter: Increase the quality of items you find in treasure chests.

- Rationer: Adds 10 minutes to the duration of any food or drink that increases your character’s stats per stage.

- Liquid Efficiency: Whenever you use a potion or poison you have a 10% chance to not consume it.
