Much like any other traditional ARPG, Where Winds Meet features a robust character creation system. Although you start the game with a pre-established character, Jiang Yan, you eventually get to create your own character following the prologue. The character creator in Where Winds Meet offers an extensive set of options, including body types, face shape, hairstyles, and more.

However, the most unique aspect of the game’s character creator is the ability to add your own image to create the avatar with your likeness. The game has a “Smart” creation option where it can generate a realistic avatar with an image. Additionally, the character creation system also features a ton of preset options for male and female avatars.

Here’s everything you need to know about the character customization system in Where Winds Meet.

Right at the start of your journey in Where Winds Meet, you take control of Jiang Yan. However, after going through the game’s combat and traversal tutorials, you will face the very first boss fight, The Void King. Upon defeating the boss, you will unlock a lengthy cutscene, where Jiang Yan will interact with the game’s main protagonist, i.e., his nephew/niece.

Following the cutscene, you will get access to the game’s character customization system. You can choose between either Realistic or Elegant presets right at the start. However, you can also choose to upload your own voice and likeness (via an image) to create the in-game avatar.

Furthermore, regardless of the chosen preset, you can customize individual elements such as face shape, hairstyles, makeup, and more. Although the character creation system here isn’t nearly as extensive as something like Monster Hunter Wilds, it’s still quite robust and offers plenty of options for both male and female presets.

Does Character Creation Affect Gameplay In Where Winds Meet?

No, unlike games such as Baldur’s Gate 3 or Dragon Age, there is no Class or specialization system in Where Winds Meet. Most of your combat skills are tied to the weapons. As such, the character creator doesn’t have any effect on the gameplay. It’s basically similar to titles like Dragon’s Dogma, where character customization doesn’t impact combat.
