This Where Winds Meet guide will go over how to unlock fishing and then discuss the fishing minigame and mechanics in detail.

Where Winds Meet may have marketed its flashy combat hard, but it’s the incredible open world with its plethora of side activities, such as fishing, where the game truly shines. The game lets you truly immerse yourself in Ancient China.
Fishing is one of the more peaceful activities in the game, and is much more than a gimmick as it seems to be at first glance. Fishing in this game allows you to hunt fish for cooking, which then allows you to cook special recipes. Furthermore, the act of fishing itself isn’t boring either, as the mechanics are pretty engaging, and you can put your skills to the test by fishing against other players.
There’s a lot to fishing in Where Winds Meet, with its intricate mechanics, fishing rods, upgrade systems, and so much more. If you’re just getting into the game and want to know more about fishing in Where Winds Meet, we discuss this in detail below.

How Fishing Works in Where Winds Meet

If you want to fish after unlocking the mechanic, all you have to do is find a body of water, equip your rod, and press Up on the D-Pad/X to begin fishing. Once you’ve set up by water, you then need to select your bait by pressing L2+ Triangle/Circle/Alt+Mouse Scroll Wheel. Different fish require different bait, so make sure to bring the right one.
With the rod and bait ready, cast a line by pressing Square/E. You then have to shake your rod to lure the fish. Once the fish grabs on, you have to play a small minigame. At the top of your screen is a meter. This meter has a green zone. You have to use your left stick and keep the fish within this green zone for a short period to capture it.
If the fish is larger or of a rarer type, the green zone will be smaller, making the minigame harder. To compensate for this, you need to upgrade the rod. Head over to Heaven’s Pier and talk to Xiong Da to acquire new rods. Keep upgrading rods consistently, and no fish will be able to escape your grasp and hook.
