The New Guest in Kaifeng quest marks the start of the second chapter in Where Winds Meet‘s story. Right after you finish Heaven Has No Pier, you will be greeted with a lengthy cutscene, which ultimately leads you to Kaifeng. It’s a fairly intriguing quest with some really cool storylines, characters, and best of all, an entirely new region for you to explore and get lost in.

The quest is divided into four sub-quests, each requiring you to collect specific resources, reach important POIs, and talk to key NPCs. Here’s a comprehensive walkthrough for the New Guest in Kaifeng quest in Where Winds Meet.

How To Complete The New Guest In Kaifeng Quest In Where Winds Meet

Here are the steps to complete the New Guest in Kaifeng quest:

• Go to the dock, Leave Dock, Go to Wheatwind Bazaar, search for Wuque, Repel the Gang
• Follow Yingying, Wait at Inn for Yingying, Buy 20 Bags of Grain from Traveling Merchant, Find Dao Lord’s Follower with Old Jin
• Follow Old Jin, Redeem Parting Tears from Waiter, Return to Old Jin, Follow Little Girl to Revelry Hall
• Enter City with Little Fu, Resist Government Soldiers, Hide from Government Soldiers with Big Zhao, Leave with Big Zhao

Here’s a breakdown of each of the sub-quests for the New Guest in Kaifeng:

Go To The Dock, Leave Dock, Go To Wheatwind Bazaar, Search For Wuque, Repel The Gang

Right at the start of the quest, you will have to talk to the Ferryman at the docks. From there, you will be taken to Kaifeng shores, where you need to leave the docks. After arriving at Kaifeng, your next objective would be to reach the Wheatwing Bazaar. Simply take your horse and make your way to Wheatwing Bazaar. We highly recommend talking to the Wayfarers on your way to the Bazaar to grab the map of the region.

After arriving at the Wheatwind Bazaar, your next objective would be to search for the Wuque. After you arrive at the quest marker, a cutscene will play where a woman will claim that she’s responsible for a “Wujue” Treasure Basin. However, before she can sell you anything, she will be interrupted by a large man who will claim the same.

At this point, you can choose to put a coin in the man’s basin, and more will populate. After some time, you will get the prompt to Inspect the Basin. In doing so, you will realize that it’s yet another con orchestrated by the woman and the large man. After that, you will have to fight the large man and his minions. However, it’s an easy fight compared to the enemies you faced in the previous quest.

Follow Yingying, Wait At Inn For Yingying, Buy 20 Bags Of Grain From Traveling Merchant, Find Dao Lord’s Follower With Old Jin

After the scuffle at the Bazaar, you’ll next meet Yingying, who will propose to help you with your financial crisis. As you follow Yingying, you will get to know that Tang Coins are forbidden, and anyone caught in possession of them will be punished. Next, you two will sit down at an inn to eat. However, after some time, Yingying will leave, saying that she’ll return in a short while.

However, Yingying never arrives, regardless of how long you wait. As such, you’re now stuck with even more debt and will have to find a way to make some coin. Furthermore, as collateral, you will have to leave the wine jar that you’re carrying at the inn.

From the letter left by Yingying, you will figure out that you can buy bags of grain for a cheap price and sell them to the Dao Lord for a huge profit margin. As such, your next objective is to buy 20 bags of grain from a traveling merchant. After buying the grains, you will once again meet up with Old Jin, who will promise to help you find the Dao Lord’s follower.

However, in return for his favor, he demands 10% of your profits. Once you find the follower, who turns out to be a little girl, you try to sell the bags of grain to her.

Follow Old Jin, Redeem Parting Tears From Waiter, Return To Old Jin, Follow Little Girl To Revelry Hall

Before you leave the Dao Lord follower, you will receive the Tang Coins left by Yingying. At this point, Old Jin will explain to you why the coins cannot be used in the region. Furthermore, he also recommends meeting up with the inn’s waiter to receive the Parting Tears. Unfortunately, the waiter has already sold the Parting Tears (wine jar). At this point, you can either find the person who bought it or take the money that the waiter received for it.

If you’re looking to find the wine jar, you will find it in Revelry Hall. Next, you can choose to give Old Jin his share of the profit. After that, you will be offered a tour of the “real” Kaifeng by Little Fu (Dao Lord follower). Little Fu eventually takes you to the city, which is where you will conclude the New Guest in Kaifeng quest.

Enter City With Little Fu, Resist Government Soldiers, Hide From Government Soldiers With Big Zhao, Leave With Big Zhao

After reaching the city, you will once again find the large man, who still has the coin purse he stole from you. However, in order to save himself from getting apprehended (for possession of Tang Coins), the man will accuse you of possessing said coins. Unfortunately, you do have Tang Coins on you, courtesy of Yingying. However, this time around, you can choose to resist the Government Soldiers.

Furthermore, after the fight, you will meet Big Zhao, who will escort you out of the city. This concludes the New Guest in Kaifeng quest in Where Winds Meet.
