How to Complete Destiny 2 Dawning 2023 Guide
To complete the Dawning Event in Destiny 2 for 2023, you will have to complete all 16 triumphs within the event challenges. To complete all 16 triumphs, you will have to complete a variety of tasks that include defeating enemies with different subclasses, utilizing Dawning weapons in various activities, and of course, baking all of the cookies for your friends. In this Destiny 2 Dawning 2023 Guide, we will explain how to complete this. First, let us explain where and how to start the event in 2023.
How to Start the Dawning Event in 2023
To start the Dawning Event in 2023, we suggest heading to Eva Levante (our beloved Guardian Grandma) in the Tower to grab “The Dawning” quest. She is located directly in front of you when you spawn into the Tower. You will receive your recipe book from Eva Levante to start baking until your heart’s desire. Once you accept the quest, you will receive Eva’s Holiday Oven 2.1, which can be located under the Quests tab.
Oven
Your Holiday Oven is the core foundation for the Dawning Event. Inside the Oven menu, you will find:
- Your recipe book gives you information on how many ingredients are required per cookie.
- Ingredient tracker, and a description of how to acquire each ingredient
To be the most efficient baker in the galaxy, masterworking the oven will reduce the cost of Essence of Dawning per cookie. To masterwork your Holiday Oven, you will need to discover all 20 cookie recipes. If you have found them before, you can masterwork them right away.
For those needing to fill their recipe book, below is a list of all 20 cookies in Destiny 2 Dawning Event 2023:
- Gjallardoodles – Ether Cane, Delicious Explosion
- Traveler Donut Holes – Cabal Oil, Flash of Inspiration
- Telemetry Tapioca – Vex Milk, Bullet Spray
- Eliksni Birdseed – Ether Cane, Personal Touch
- Gentleman’s Shortbread – Ether Cane, Perfect Taste
- Infinite Forest Cake – Vex Milk, Impossible Heat
- Vanilla Blades – Cabal Oil, Sharp Flavor
- Dark Chocolate Motes – Taken Butter, Null Taste
- Ill-Fortune Cookies – Dark Ether Cane, Impossible Heat
- Strange Cookies – Taken Butter, Electric Flavor

The Dawning
The first step of the quest is to bake a gift for our dear Commander Zavala. To complete this task, you will need the following ingredients:
- Ether Cane x1
- Delicious Explosion x1
- Essence of Dawning x15
Luckily Eva gives you these items along with your Holiday Oven to bake your season’s first cookie. To start baking, hover over your Holiday Oven in the Quests tab and press the platform button for details. This will bring up the menu for you to start baking. Under recipes, you will see Gjallardoodles, hold platform appropriate button to bake.
The Dawning Step 2
After you have baked your first cookie, head over to Zavala in the Tower. You will present your first baked good of the season. After your interaction with Zavala, you will receive a Gift in Return, located inside your inventory. You will also receive Dawning Spirit, which is used to spend at Eva for gifts and upgrades.
The Dawning Step 3 – 6
The next step is to navigate to your Event Card and claim the first Event Challenge. Below are pictures of where to go. After claiming the first Triumph, the other 15 will unlock for you to complete. Once you’ve unlocked all the Triumphs to chase, you will need to return to Eva at the Tower. She will present you with more Dawning Spirit, the Dawning currency used to buy items from Eva. The Dawning Spirit that you have acquired over the last few steps will be used for upgrades. After you buy your first upgrade, you will be presented with the start of a new quest, Cookie Delivery Helper.
Cookie Delivery Helper
For this part of our Destiny 2 Dawning 2023 Guide quest, scour the Sol System for ingredients to bake cookies for all your friends. Now, you will need to bake:
- Telemetry Tapioca
- Infinite Forest Cake
- Lavender Ribbon Cookie
Ingredient
The uncommon ingredient for all these cookies is Vex Milk, which can be acquired by defeating Vex.
The rare ingredients are how you defeat the Vex. The three different ways are:
- Bullet Spray: defeating combatants with automatic weapon types (AR, SMG, LMG)
- Personal Touch: defeating combatants with melee abilities
- Impossible Heat: defeating combatants with Solar damage
To be efficient with hunting for these ingredients, use an automatic Solar weapon to defeat Vex enemies to maximize farming potential.
The final ingredient is the Essence of Dawning, acquired by simply completing activities.
Second Round
The second round of cookies for this quest are:
- Hot Crossfire Buns
- Gentleman’s Shortbread
- Blueberry Crumblers
- Eliksni Birdseed
The uncommon ingredient for all of these cookies is Ether Cane, which can be acquired by defeating Fallen
The rare ingredients are how you defeat the Fallen. The two new ingredients are:
- Balanced Flavors: Gained by defeating opponents with Bows, Sniper Rifles, Scout Rifles, and Pulse Rifles
- Perfect Taste: Gained by defeating opponents with Precision damage
You will need additional Personal Touch and Bullet Spray ingredients. You can farm for both new ingredients by using one of the precision weapons and defeating enemies with precision kills.
Third Rotation
The third rotation of cookies for quest as follows:
- Traveler Donut Holes
- Vanilla Blades
The uncommon ingredient for all of these cookies is Cabal Oil, which can be acquired by defeating Cabal
The rare ingredients are how you defeat the Cabal. The two new ingredients are:
- Flash of Inspiration: Gained by generating Orbs of Power
- Sharp Flavor: Gained by defeating opponents with Swords
To farm for these ingredients efficiently, I suggest putting in a Siphon helmet mod that matches your sword’s element type.
Fourth Iteration
The fourth iteration of cookies is:
- Ascendant Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
- Lucent Crunch
- Bright-Dusted Snowballs
- Etheric Coldsnaps
The uncommon ingredient for all of these cookies is Chitin Powder, which is acquired by defeating Hive
The rare ingredients are how you defeat the Hive. The three new ingredients are:
- Finishing Touch: Gained by defeating opponents with finishers
- Multifaceted Flavors: Gained by rapidly defeating targets
- Electric Flavor: Gained by defeating opponents with Arc damage
Best Way to Farm
The best way to farm for these ingredients for the Dawning event in Destiny 2 is to use Arc weapons and subclass to eliminate enemies, and groups of them together. Try doing public events for groups of enemies together. Don’t forget to throw in a few finishers to get Finishing Touch as well.
The fifth sheet of cookies to make is:
- Dark Chocolate Motes
- Classic Butter Cookies
- Strange Cookies
The uncommon ingredient for all of these cookies is Taken Butter, which is acquired by defeating Taken
The rare ingredients are how you defeat the Taken. The two new ingredients are:
- Null Taste: Gained by defeating opponents with Void damage
- Superb Texture: Gained by defeating opponents with your Super
The best way to farm for these ingredients is using a Void super that will take out multiple enemies at once.
Final Cookies
The last and final bundle of cookies to bake are:
- Bittersweet Biscotti
- Starwort Thins
- Ill-Fortune Cookies
The uncommon ingredient for all of these cookies are Dark Ether Cane, which is acquired by defeating Scorn
The rare ingredients are how you defeat the Scorn. The new ingredient is:
- Dark Frosting: Gained by defeating opponents with Stasis damage
The best way to optimize time is using a Stasis Scout rifle or Bow to farm for these ingredients against the Scorn.
You have now baked all of the cookies in your recipe book. Your next challenge will be completing each of the 16 triumphs to unlock the title, Star Baker.
There are various cookies to bake with your Holiday Oven. Your recipe book will keep track of all of the ingredients you have acquired.
Winter Night Quest
This quest unlocks the brand new weapon Memento that Eva has brought with her at this Dawning Event. To complete this quest, you have to run around the galaxy and throw snowballs at enemies. The first step will have you complete the following:
- 75 snowball final blows
- 25 Upgraded snowball final blows
- Classic Butter Cookie delivered
The Classic Butter Cookie is to be delivered to Eva.
In order to have Upgraded snowballs to complete the quest, you will have to acquire 60 Dawning Spirits to buy the Long Winter, Longer Winter, and Stay Frosty snowball upgrades from Eva. The fastest way to obtain Dawning Spirits is to complete bounties from Eva, along with completing Triumphs. Once you have completed each task within the quest, you will return to Eva to claim your prize, the new Dawning Memento.
Dawning Event Rewards in 2023
Eva brought back her seasonal weapons for rewards, along with a new weapon Memento to add to the collection. Here is a list of weapons you can acquire from Eva:
- Albedo Wing – Arc Aggressive Glaive
- Stay Frosty – Stasis Lightweight Frame Pulse rifle
- Avalanche – Solar Adaptive Frame Machine gun
- Cold Front – Kinetic Aggressive Frame SMG
- Glacioclasm – Void High-impact Frame Fusion Rifle
- Zephyr – Stasis Adaptive Frame Sword
You can acquire all of these weapons by unlocking the Giftwrapped Exchange Ticket upgrade for 35 Dawning Spirit. Once unlocked, you can use your Gifts and Dawning Spirit to focus for each weapon. If you don’t want to spend your Gifts in Return on weapons, you can always open them up in your inventory for a chance to receive upgrade materials and Dawning Spirit
