Traditionally with grenade launchers, you want to focus blast radius and velocity however due to The Mountaintop’s unique frame the higher your blast radius the less damage the weapon does. With this in mind, we are going to take a magazine and barrel that reduces our blast radius while increasing our velocity, so Hard Launch and Implosion Rounds are the best choices. Auto-Loading Holster allows the weapon to reload itself while stowed keeping the weapon ready for when it is needed. Lastly, Recombination is a massive boost in damage that at full stacks makes one shot hit as hard as two. This helps our ammo economy and is stackable by simply getting any elemental kills.
The Mountaintop is one of the most iconic grenade launchers ever released in Destiny 2 and is no less powerful after its re-release. With a fantastic perk selection, you would be hard-pressed to find a better kinetic grenade launcher that is so easily farmable.

The best perks for The Mountaintop PVP God Roll are Hard Launch, Implosion Rounds, Impulse Amplifier, and Harmony. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.

Similarly to the PVE rolls, we are keeping the Handling masterwork, Implosion Rounds, and Hard Launch as they are still the best choice to ensure you have the most damage potential. However, Impulse Amplifier and Harmory are replacing our main traits because they increase our velocity even more and give us a damage boost for getting kills with other weapons. This allows us to quickly use the Mountaintop to clean up kills or to start our next engagement with a damage boost.
While PVP weapons are often based on personal preference, The Mountaintop is as strong as when it used to be mandatory for the crucible. You should make sure to collect a few rolls to try out.
How to Get The Mountaintop
The Mountaintop can be obtained from Onslaught, the new activity released with the Into the Light update. To enter Onslaught, go to your Director map, select Into the Light, then queue for the Onslaught activity. While in Onslaught, you can get multiple weapons by completing the 50 waves of the activity and by ranking up Lord Shaxx Onslaught’s reputation. Going to the Hall of Champions social area, found within the Into the Light map area, you can turn in Trophies of Bravery at the chest next to Lord Shaxx for additional weapons. Lastly, you can attune your loot for a specific weapon, increasing the chances of dropping that weapon when obtaining an Onslaught loot.
