The Gold Wyrmling Staff is a nice early game quarterstaff for spellcasters and you can purchase it from a trader in the Shattered Sanctum in Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3).

In Baldur’s Gate 3 the Gold Wyrmling Staff is a nice choose for spellcasters in the early Act 1 portion of the game. It’s a Rare quarterstaff which does decent damage. Additionally, it will provide the user will access to the Fire Bolt cantrip. Cantrips are especially useful in Act1 of Baldur’s Gate 3 because you can cast them as many times as you like without using one of your very limited spell slots.
Fire Bolt is a basic, but great cantrip to have access to. It’s especially useful when combined with the Grease spell or a thrown bottle of Grease. Cover the floor with Grease, which can cause some enemies to fall. Then cast Fire Bolt and it will set the entire Grease covered area aflame, causing some great environmental, area-of-effect damage.

How to Get Gold Wyrmling Staff in Baldur’s Gate 3
You can get the Gold Wyrmling Staff in Baldur’s Gate 3 by entering the Shattered Sanctum in the Goblin Camp, and speaking to merchant Roah Moonglow who sells the quarterstaff for 496 gold.
If you’ve been to the Goblin Camp before, you can fast travel there by using the Goblin Camp way point. If you haven’t been to the Camp yet, then you can get there by traveling directly west from the Emerald Grove. You’ll need to make your way around (or through) the Blighted Village. Going through the Blighted Village means dealing with an ambush at the east side entrance. However, you can choose to avoid then by taking an immediate left outside the main entrance and going around the village to the south.
Find the Roah in the Shattered Sanctum
Take the southwest path away from the Blighted Village and you’ll find the main entrance to the Goblin Camp. You’ll have to fight or persuade your way inside, the fight will only involve the guards. Once you defeat them you can freely walk around the Camp. Once inside the camp, make your way north through the courtyard to the temple entrance. Inside is the Shattered Sanctum.
After talking your way past more guards inside, make your way down the long hallway. Then once you hit the large, open room take a left. You’ll find Roah Moonglow up some stairs, along with a couple of guards standing in front of a locked storeroom. Speak to her in order to purchase the Gold Wyrmling Staff for 496 gold. That’s a bit of a hefty price early in the game, so if you want you can try to steal the Staff from her instead. Keep in mind that this can be difficult given the two guards at the door, as well as the goblin walking back and forth nearby.
