Star Wars Outlaws is an upcoming single-player, action-adventure game developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft. While it occurs in the same universe as the Jedi franchise, this game promises to be a much more open-world experience. Additionally, there will be vehicle combat, along with space fights and other mechanics that will give players a variety of different gameplay. The release date for the game comes in late summer, so before the big day let’s break down everything we know about Star Wars Outlaws!
Star Wars Outlaws Release Date
The global release date for Star Wars Outlaws is officially set for August 30, 2024. Currently, the game is too far out for us to know specific release times and if they will change based on time zones. Typically, Ubisoft games are not released all at once for players worldwide. Rather, they stagger the release for midnight in your specific time zone. We expect the same to hold true for Star Wars Outlaws, but we’ll post more specific information here once it’s been officially announced.
Additionally, if you pre-order the game, you can purchase an edition that grants you three days of early access. Therefore, with one of these editions, you could play Star Wars Outlaws on August 27, 2024. For more information on all pre-order bonuses, see below.
Star Wars Outlaws Platforms
Star Wars Outlaws will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Furthermore, on PC the game will be available to purchase from Ubisoft and Epic Games store portals. Additionally, Star Wars Outlaws will also be available on Day One with a Ubisoft+ subscription.

Star Wars Outlaws Story and Setting
The story of Star Wars Outlaws takes place between two of the movies from the original series, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Moreover, it occurs outside the main franchise story, where Jedi Rebels seek to take down the mighty Empire. Instead, the focus is on the protagonist, Kay Vess, a gunslinger with the ambition to attempt one of the biggest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen.
Explore distinct planets across the galaxy, both iconic and new. Risk it all as Kay Vess, an emerging scoundrel seeking freedom and the means to start a new life, along with her companion Nix. Fight, steal, and outwit your way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates as you join the galaxy’s most wanted.
Official Description
The developers have promised that players will visit some familiar Star Wars locations, including Tatooine. Additionally, there may be some familiar faces, with quick glimpses of Jabba the Hut seen in the most recent story trailer.
This massive heist will target one of the Outer Rim’s most powerful crime bosses, Sliro, who has hired a bounty hunter to take Kay down. Can Kay evade their traps and manage to escape with not only her life but her freedom?
Star Wars Outlaws Gameplay
Unlike the light saber duels, a regular feature in the Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor games, Star Wars Outlaws Kay is a gunslinger whose combat focuses primarily on ranged shooting with a blaster. Additionally, you will regularly engage with stealth mechanics in this Outlaws game. You’ll also have an assortment of gadgets and equipment Kay can use to get in and out of trouble. Moreover, you can use Kay’s companion, Nix, to distract enemies or interact with the environment without alerting nearby guards.
Additionally, combat will extend to other areas. The speeders have already appeared in various trailers. Moreover, while they are likely used to hasten your travels across planets from one location to the next, they won’t make you invulnerable to attack. High-speed combat will be a feature of Star Wars Outlaws, and you’ll have to use your skills to control your speeder, dodge attacks, and fire your volleys in return.
Finally, another exciting feature of Star Wars Outlaws will be space combat. Kay’s ship is called the Trailblazer, and while its primary purpose is to take her wherever she needs to go, it’s also essential that she be prepared for attack. The developers at Massive Entertainment have done their best to make the chaotic nature of space dogfighting as accessible as possible. A new ‘chase-cam’ control will let you automatically track enemy ships so that you can focus on aim and firing against your opponent.
Star Wars Outlaws Pre-Order
The pre-order bonus for the Star Wars Outlaws game includes the Kessel Runner Bonus Pack. These extra rewards for buying the game before August 30, 2024, are cosmetic and digital only. You will likely receive them in the game after the official launch.
The Kessel Runner Bonus Pack includes:
- A cosmetic pack for your speeder.
- A cosmetic for the Trailblazer spaceship.
Additionally, you can buy three different types of Star Wars Outlaws editions. The Standard Edition of the game costs $70 and comes only with the base game and the pre-order bonus.
Next, there is the Gold Edition of Star Wars Outlaws. This costs $110 and comes with the base game, pre-order bonus, 3 days of early access, and a Season Pass. The Season Pass will include two planned upcoming DLCs, an exclusive mission on day one of the game launch, and Kessel Runner cosmetics for Kay and Nix.
Finally, there is the Ultimate Edition, which you can purchase as a standalone for $130. Or through a subscription to Ubisoft+ for $18 a month. You will receive the base game, early access, and additional digital content from the previous tiers. Moreover, you will also get the Rogue Infiltrator Bundle and Sabacc Shark Bundle. These bundles include two different themed cosmetics for your speeder and spaceship and character cosmetics. Lastly, you can access a Star Wars Outlaws Digital Art Book.
Star Wars Outlaws Trailers
So far, the trailers for Star Wars Outlaws have highlighted both gameplay and the story. Furthermore, the gameplay trailer highlights the protagonist’s sneak abilities, some of the vehicle fights, and even a bit of space combat.
