Sword Build Introduction

The Sword build for Throne and Liberty focuses on damage reduction, aggro generation in PvE, and crowd control. The Sword and Shield combined with a Wand and Tome is the genuine tank build for Throne and Liberty, making it essential for group PvE content. You will have unmatched survivability at the expense of damage. However, your party will make up for it in group PvE and will be required for any dungeon or large-scale boss fight. This Sword Tank build is designed for end-game PvE players who want to do group content at the highest level.

In Throne and Liberty, skills are abilities you can use and change depending on your equipped weapons.  Unlike other MMORPGs, your weapon choices determine your skills and build.  You can swap weapons and gain a new set of skills that you learn throughout the leveling process.  Moreover, skills come in three forms: active, passive, and defensive.  Below is our suggested loadout for these three types of skills and the reasons why we selected them for this

Outside of boss mechanics and one-shots, you should be able to control the battlefield and keep yourself alive. This weapon combination eliminates the need for a pocket healer 100% of the time, allowing you more group damage and easier PvE dungeon clears.

Another off-hand weapon option on the back bar would be the Greatsword. You can swap to this setup if you lack damage or want to level/play solo without taking a long time to destroy enemies.

Stat Points

The best stat points for the Sword build are 30 Strength, 30 Dexterity, 19 Wisdom, and 10 Perception. 30 Strength is your primary objective because you gain increased health, defense, and a damage reduction bonus at 30. Once 30 is reached, swap to Dexterity because it gives you evasion, which aids in avoiding attacks. Lastly, Wisdom should be increased to 19 to increase mana regeneration. If you struggle with resource sustain, switch to 19 Dexterity and 30 Wisdom, which will aid spell and skill usage.

Below is the best recommended Stat Point for a Sword and Shield Tank build in Throne and Liberty MMORPG:

• 30 Strength – increase defense, max health, max damage, and minimum damage.  Spend 30 points to gain damage reduction.

3. Aegis Shield (Sword and Shield) – the more shield block chance, the higher your damage reduction.
4. Spectrum of Agony (Sword and Shield) – hitting a provoked target increases the duration slightly allowing you to maintain aggro.

The best defense skill for the Sword build is the Shield Survival Technique because a successful defense gives you health, a shield, and a retaliation attack. Moreover, the sword and shield defensive skill is the easiest way to time a perfect attack or hold it until a defense is made. The second option is Chaotic Shield from the Wand and Tome, which is helpful for mana sustain.

Defensive skills are skills that allow you to defend against attacks. Enemies will have a “Fury Attack,” a purple circle drawing down to a central point. You can defend against the Furty Attack by using your defensive skill at the precious moment for a perfect defense. Each weapon has its defensive skill, which consumes stamina instead of mana, shown on the left of your User Interface when used. Special effects occur when you successfully defend against a Furty Attack; timing is vital for maximizing your build’s potential.

Rotation

Your main priority with sword and shield tank build is maintaining aggro or “provoke” status effect on the highest damage-producing enemy. Close the gap with Strategic Rush and follow up with Counter Barrier and Shield Strike. This combination of skills will draw the enemy’s attention and provoke it. Doing damage consistently will maintain aggro due to your passives.

Once in position, use Provoking Roar if multiple enemies are near or around the primary target (boss). Moreover, Shield Throw is another provoke or aggro-generating skill with some range of the boss slipping away from you. Next, place the Fountain of Life at your feet to keep your mana regeneration high, allowing you to use spells freely.

The next priority is survivability; your primary defensive skill is Stalwart Bastion. You want to use this when there is a massive incoming damage phase for you and your group but expect only a few seconds of benefit. Consistently heal yourself with Swift Healing, which isn’t much but has a short cooldown. Next, use Immortal Pride as another defensive skill when Stalwart Bastion is on cooldown, and you need to survive. Blessed Barrier and Clay’s Salvation can also be used to aid the group and yourself. Ensuring you are in the range of allies is essential because your defensive skills do not have a massive range.

in Throne and Liberty, your rotation is a series of priority skills to use “off cooldown.” Most of the gameplay revolves around an opening sequence, followed by subsequent priority usage of abilities that produce the most damage, heal, or buff. Your goal is always to stay alive and follow our rotation as the situation permits. If you get off track, continue to do some damage, even if it’s an auto attack, to keep your “time on target” high.

The best Mastery selects are Boss for Sword and Shield and Recovery from Wand and Tome. The Boss Mastery tree emphasizes damage increase and reduction when facing bosses, which is the primary objective of this build. Next, Recovery from the Wand will aid in mana regeneration, allowing more skill usage.

Guardian

The best Guardian for the Sword and Shield Tank build is Lady Knight Kamarshea because of the Eternal Barrier skill that creates a 50% max mana shield and speeds up your cooldowns. If you have enough survivability, look to Masked Warlock Dantalux and the skill Abyssal Sanctuary for increased burst damage.

1. Eternal Barrier (Lady Knight Kamarshea) – a defensive shield that helps survivability.
2. Masked Warlock Dantalux (Abyssal Sanctuary) – an offensive ability that increases bonus damage when consuming mana to use a skill.

Guardians act as a short-term ultimate or super ability with powerful effects and a long cooldown.  Ideally, you want to select a Guardian that either enhances a strength or covers up a weakness.  You obtain Guardians after level 25 and completing Chapter 25.
