Enshrouded Co-op Multiplayer and How It Works - Thumb

Developed and published by Keen Games, Enshrouded is an action-adventure survival game with RPG elements that immerses players in a mysterious land shrouded by a destructive fog. In this treacherous world, players must gather resources, craft items, build bases, and reclaim what was taken. With a delicate balance between survival, RPG elements, base-building, and action-packed encounters, Enshrouded offers a perfect setup for multiplayer and co-op gameplay. Let’s dive into the intricacies of Enshrouded’s cooperative experience and how it works!

Will Enshrouded have Co-op and Multiplayer?

Yes, Enshrouded is a game created with up to 16 players in mind.

Developers put a lot of effort into making the game an exciting experience in single-player mode but also cooperation. We don’t know all the little details, but in co-op multiplayer, you can jump into a game with your friends and family at any time and together collect resources, build bases, and fight challenging bosses.

You can create your perfect party composition. With many available skills and a complex skill tree, each player can fulfill various roles in the party. Classic examples include healers, tanks, spellcasters, melee warriors, and ranged damage dealers.

How Co-op Works in Enshrouded?

Cooperative multiplayer, often called co-op, is a game mode that allows multiple players to collaborate and play together as a team to achieve common objectives or overcome challenges within the game. In the case of Enshrouded, which supports co-op for up to 16 players, here’s an explanation of how it will work:

  • Player Collaboration: In cooperative multiplayer, players work together to achieve goals or complete missions. Each player contributes to the overall progress, and success often depends on effective communication and teamwork.
  • Shared Objectives: Enshrouded offers shared objectives for players in co-op mode. This could include gathering resources, building bases, fending off hostile creatures, and completing quests. These objectives create a shared gameplay experience and progression.
  • Party System: The game likely features a party system that allows players to form a group or party. This enables them to stay connected and coordinate their actions efficiently, especially during combat. The party system simplifies communication, ensures players know each other’s activities, and creates complementary builds or equipment setups.
  • Base Building and Resource Management: In Enshrouded, players can collectively collaborate on building bases and managing resources. Cooperative multiplayer often enhances the scale and efficiency of created builds, allowing players to create massive bases and achieve more within a shorter time.
  • Time together: Co-op is a great way to spend time with friends and family.

How to Start a Multiplayer Co-Op

For Enshrouded, you can already pre-order your server from companies like Nintrado or G-portal and rent your own server. There are a lot of server providers. You can also host your game from your local PC (for free), and other players can join your private game. However, hosting a game usually requires better PC specs, so ensure you can run the game. With all the possibilities, on day one, when Enshrouded releases, you will be able to play with friends regardless of where they are on the globe.

Create Public Game

Joining or creating a new co-op game is easy. After you create your character, you must select the type of game you wish to play. Currently, there are three service options for Enshrouded:

  • Private: Save locally; only you are in the world.
  • Host: Saved locally, but you are the host, and friends can join you.
  • Join: Join an online game on a big server owned by someone.

If you are looking for a single-player experience, select Private Game. However, players interested in multiplayer can host a game on their PC, and it requires an internet connection. You can set a password to prevent unwelcome guests from joining. Downside is that if you as a host turn off and leave the game your friends will also be forced to leave and anly play when host is active.

Lastly, you can join a game on another player’s server and world. Within the menu, Enshrouded references the website G-Portal to rent your server. This would be for players looking to host a co-op game with optimal performance. For a price, those server-providing companies will keep the server active at all times for you and your friends and apply any future updates.
