Dragon Ball Sparking Zero brings to life some of Dragon Ball’s most iconic moments, putting you in the shoes of the series’ most iconic characters. The game lets you recreate moments and indulge in what-if scenarios and fantasy fights with no restrictions, in part due to its massive roster of over 180 characters. However, despite this massive roster, there are notable omissions that failed to make the cast, and we can only hope that they get their dues in the upcoming DLCs.

In this list, we list out 10 iconic Dragon Ball characters that are currently absent from the Dragon Ball Sparking Zero roster.

1) Super 17 (Dragon Ball GT)

While Dragon Ball GT has always been the black sheep of the Dragon Ball series, the show has found love plenty in the video games. Super 17 is a beloved antagonist from Dragon Ball GT that was a staple in all the previous Budokai Tenkaichi games. His stoic charisma and badass attitude make his glaring absence from the game hit harder, and fans are perplexed.

2) Grandpa Gohan (Dragon Ball)

As there is no Superman without the Kents, there is no Goku without Grandpa Gohan. Grandpa Gohan gave Goku his name and helped shape the young Saiyan into the pure-hearted warrior we know him as today. Yet, Goku’s father figure does not make the roster of the game despite being present in the previous entries.

3) Android 8 (Dragon Ball)

Grandpa Gohan is not the only original Dragon Ball character snubbed in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. Android 8, one of the first Androids shown in Dragon Ball, fails to make the Sparking Zero roster. Resembling Frankenstein’s Monster, Android 8 was designed to serve the Red Ribbon Army, but his pure heart helped him overcome his designated purpose and join Goku.

4) King Piccolo (Dragon Ball)

The original Dragon Ball started off as a lighthearted adventure, and it wasn’t till the introduction of King Piccolo that the stakes were raised. King Piccolo, or Demon King Piccolo, was the first major antagonist of Dragon Ball and Son Goku’s first real hurdle. King Piccolo is the evil counterpart of Kami and has been a mainstay in the Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi games.

5) Chi-Chi (Dragon Ball)

Chi-Chi is one of the most iconic characters in the Dragon Ball series and is one of the protagonists in the original Dragon Ball. While her screen time gradually reduced over the course of the series, her impact on the series is undeniable and is carried over through the sons she raised. She was also a fun playable character in the previous games, with a crafty and cunning moveset suiting her character.

6) Pikkon (Dragon Ball Z)

Pikkon is a fan-favourite character that is absent from the Sparking Zero roster. Often portrayed as a mirror to Goku, Pikkon is wise, smart, and patient. The character won over fans with just a brief appearance in Z and has since gathered a cult following.

7) King Vegeta (Dragon Ball Z)

Perhaps the most preposterous of omissions, King Vegeta is intrinsically tied to Saiyan history forever. The last king of the Saiyans kicked off the Saiyan Saga in the manga and is the man who molded Vegeta to be the way he is. We hope the last king of the Saiyans finds his way to the roster in the DLCs.

8) General Tao (Dragon Ball)

General Tao, or Mercenary Tao, is one of the main antagonists of the original Dragon Ball. Tao is a major hurdle for Goku in the Commander Red arc. Deeply sadistic and evil, he provides a stark contrast to the pure nature of Son Goku and makes for a dynamic clash between the two characters. Tao was also a playable character in the previous games.

9) Supreme Kai Shin (Dragon Ball Z)

Supreme Kai Shin is another major character that was present in the previous games. The Supreme Kai played an important role towards the end of DBZ and was the backbone of the Majin Buu saga, linking Goku to earth and also revealing knowledge of the permafusion earrings that spawned Vegito.

10) Nuova Shenron (Dragon Ball GT)

Nuova Shenron is one of the main antagonists in Dragon Ball GT. He possesses profound power levels and went toe to toe with Super Saiyan 4 Goku. The character was also present in prior Budokai Tenkaichi games, and was unique due to his fire-based abilities. Nuova Shenron’s addition to the game could add new layers of complexity to the combat.
