Discover how to dominate PvP in Throne and Liberty as we walk you through Castle Siege, the phases, rewards, and strategies.
What is Castle Siege in Throne and Liberty?
Castle Siege is the greatest PvP content in Throne and Liberty, allowing the defenders and attackers to compete against one another to claim the throne in Stonegard Castle. The Castle Siege winner achieves a portion of the accumulated Siege Tax distributed to the winning guild and their alliance members. The castle-owning guild also runs the castle when you buy several exclusive items and tax rates.
The guilds and alliances compete against each other to claim Stoneguard Castle. At the end of the 45-minute match, there can only be one champion of Stoneguard Castle. Various siege elements like Golems, hidden castle entry points, respawn points, and Gigantrite are available to the defending and attacking guilds to help them win the fight. The winning side gains the reward depending on the total amount of Sollant and Lucent collected from the Stonegard Castle Vault.
Siege Rules in Throne and Liberty
The Castle Siege event in Throne and Liberty begins at 21:00 server time and lasts a total of 60 minutes in Throne and Liberty. However, you’ll get an additional 3 minutes of overtime allowed. It’s worth remembering that the preparation phase of the Castle Siege begins at 21:00 and ends at 21:15. However before PvP is enabled, the Guilds can finalize their strategies during this time. Make sure to purchase what you need before the preparation phase as all the NPCs in the castle disappear. You’re moved out of the event area when PvP is enabled, so don’t travel too far into the Castle Siege zone.
Legion incorporates the guild currently in control of the Castle during a Siege. At the end of “Dazzling Growth” in Chapter 5 of the Chronicles, the first Legion of the First Siege in Throne and Liberty will be the guild ranked. In later sieges, the Legion at the initial stage of the siege will be whoever closes the previous siege in control of Stoneguard Castle in the game.
How to Siege in Throne and Liberty
To siege in Throne and Liberty, you must progress through three stages, starting with standby, progression, and, in phase three, overtime.
Phase 1: Siege Standby (21:00 – 21:15)- 15 minutes before the start of the Siege, a Siege Pending alarm will appear that blocks access to the Stoneguard’s Legion Lair, Estates, Teleportation Stones, Crafters, and Traders.
Phase 2: Siege Progression (21:15-22:00) – When the Siege commences, players near the walls Castle and inside the castle, except for Legionnaires, will shift to the nearest location. You will be forced to move if you’re outside of a vacant ruin.
Phase 3: Overtime – An additional 3 minutes is allotted for the fight to continue if the Throne is contested. If the attacking side fails to claim the throne at the end of the extra overtime of 3 minutes, then the current castle-owning alliance wins.
Siege strategy elements in Throne and Liberty: To affect the battle differently, Sieges contain various strategic elements. Some of these strategic elements are:
Plunder Zones and Spawn Zones: Stoneguard Castle has Spawn Zones and Plunder Zones that can be captured by any guild member in the Siege depending on the guild’s rank. Due to the shorter interaction times, Guilds of Guardian rank and above can take over faster.
Spawn Zones: You can capture a Spawn Zone to respawn there where you die and quickly rejoin the battle. Spawn Points provide resurrection but also function as Teleportation Stones.
Plunder Zone: Getting a Plunder Zone during the duration of a Siege allows you to loot its accumulated Taxes every five minutes. The accumulated Taxes get distributed after the Siege ends, irrespective of whoever wins or loses.
Overtime (3 Minutes): The third phase is Overtime. Once the timer of the Siege reaches 0 and the prince is alive then the overtime can trigger. The match will enter Overtime for an extra 3 minutes and this is a do-or-die moment.
Preparation Phase
The best way to prepare for Castle Siege PvP in Throne and Liberty is to prepare a proper build. Remember, these fights are large-scale, and area (AOE) weapon combinations will produce the most damage. Greatsword and Staff have the best AOE, while Dagger and Longbow are the best for single targets. Below are some recommendations:
Greatsword + Sword and Shield: Sword and Shield is your typical tank player that maintains very high defenses and provides survivability.
Bow + Staff: Longbow and Staff will give you the largest arsenal of range skills in the game with huge burst potential.
Guild Member: You’re able to join a guild early on during your adventures. The sooner you join, the sooner you can take advantage of all the benefits guild membership has to offer.
Choose the Guild Leader: The guild leader, guild advisor, and guild guardians can capture the base so plan in advance who will be your players in charge of capturing bases and give these roles out.
Best Staff Gears: Before the beginning of Siege, you must equip the gears for Staff like Breath of Mother Nature Hat, Transcendental Saint Raiment, Resonance of Mother Nature Boots, and Wild Resistance Bracelet.
Strategies for Sieging a Castle
The best strategy for sieging a castle (keep) in Throne and Liberty is breaching the walls and transforming Golems to aid you in combat.
Offensive Tactics- Approach and breach the castle’s defenses by destroying walls, and gates, or dealing with defensive structures.
Defensive Weaknesses- Identify and exploit weaknesses in the castle’s defenses.
Interact with the Sealing Stones near Siege Ruins to transform the Golems. You can purchase the Golem Slabs that you need to transform a Golem from the Guild Vendor.
There are a total of 4 types of Golems that you can use during the sieges.
- Battle Carrier- Battle Carriers are Golems for guildmates to you can use as transport to the tops of walls. Battle Carriers places the Allies on Castle Walls and its cooldown time is 5 minutes. While the transformation duration for the battle carrier is 4 minutes, the first activation time starts after 5 minutes.
- Stone Crasher- Stone Crasher is good to destroy Castle Walls and its first activation time starts immediately after triggering it. While the Cooldown time is 5 minutes, Stone Crasher offers 7 minutes of transformation time.
- Gate Hammer- You can use the Gate hammer to destroy gates during the siege. Gate Hammer has 5 minutes of cooldown timer and 6 minutes of transformation time.
- Jump Attacker- This Golem allows you to jump up and attack enemies immediately. While the Cooldown time of the Jump attacker is 5 minutes, the transformation duration is only 9 minutes.
The golem will untransform when your HP reaches 0 or the transformation duration runs out. It will take a lot of time to destroy gates and walls if not using the Siege Golems. Try to focus on destroying the gates and walls within the transformation duration. The guild members with Guard rank or higher can transform the Siege Golems.
Capture the Siege Ruins to use the Siege Golem Sealing Stones and you can use the Siege Ruins as Spawn Points or Teleport Stones. Only one guild can capture one Siege Ruin at a time. Legion cannot transform into Siege Golems but can only capture Siege Ruins.
Other Strategies
Utilize the following strategic variables to help you win against stronger Legions.
Inner and outer sewers- Utilize the inner and outer sewers to enter the castle. When it’s raining, the inner sewers fill up with water and make an entry to the castle.
Gigantites- The Gigantite will descend and allow you to enter the interior when passes through the castle.
Siege Phase
The Siege Phase lasts for 45 minutes in Throne and Liberty. The siege will be active and all the rules and objectives will be in action once the Siege Progression phase begins. There are a total of two outer gates and one inner gate that you can destroy. Use the two levers on top of the castle tower to open and close the outer gate. Operating two levers is useful for closing and opening the back and side gates of the inner castle.
Attacking Guilds will try their best to push into the Throne room and secure the Castle. The attacking Guilds need to make strategies and entry plans at the start of the Siege. The best thing that the attacker can do is to destroy the first and second Castle walls. Pull the two levers at the same time to open or close the gate.
The attacking team can interact with the Throne to become the prince after breaching the Throne room. Protect the guild leader for 3 minutes to claim the throne. The castle will be claimed if the guild leader survives for 3 minutes.
Post-Siege Strategies
The siege phase lasts for 45 minutes and the attacking guild has only this time to push into the Throne room and secure the Castle. The Castle has multiple gates and walls that protect the throne room. The first and second Castle walls can be destroyed by the attackers with the right strategy. Both the attacker and defenders can control some gates. Pull the two levers at the same time to open the gate. The levers are close to the gates both below and above the wall.
Guild Leaders of non-Legion Guilds interact with the Throne after entering the Inner Castle. The Guild Leader will transform into a “usurper” after the completion of the interaction. However, the castle will be claimed if the usurper survives within the area for 3 minutes. It’s best to stay with your guildmates to defend the usurper due to the usurper taking less damage depending upon the number of allies nearby. The usurper will untransform if he leaves the designated area or dies. Other guilds can claim the throne if the usurper captures the castle.
Overtime
The game will move to an overtime period of up to 3 minutes if the castle Battle is still in progress at the end of the 45-minute Siege period. The siege ends immediately if somehow none of the team claims to the throne.
Plunder and Spawn Points
Players can get loot and spawn locations throughout the Castle courtyard. A single Guild needs to hold one of these locations for a maximum time. Depending upon the Guild Level, the attacking guild also captures the ruins quickly. A guild can take a portion of the taxes accumulated within the Castle while holding a Loot Ruin. These guilds can get a huge amount of Lucent and Sollant to distribute to their Guildmates. Spawn points allow you to respawn every 25~ seconds.
Golems
The attacking guilds bring forth massive Golems to deal huge damage depending on the type of Golem they are. The stone Crasher is good for destroying walls. Use the Gate Hammer to destroy gates from a distance. Jump attacker is a type of Golem that can jump onto the walls and also attack enemies. Battle Carrier becomes a platform for guildmates to utilize as transport to the tops of walls. The Guild members utilize the Stone Golem consumables located at the Guild Merchant within the Guild Hall to use the Golems during Siege.
Siege Repairs
The Guild in control of the Castle will start rebuilding what gets destroyed earlier during the battle after the Siege. However, Guild can adjust tax costs for certain items.
