Learn about all the weapons in Black Myth: Wukong, including stats, special effects, and how to get, craft, and use the weapons.
In Black Myth: Wukong, you play as the main protagonist the Destined One and your weapon of choice will be a magical staff. This ‘limitation’ is thematic and dovetails with The Journey to the West story the game is based on. However, this in no way means there is only one staff you will use throughout the game. You can craft multiple staves along your journey, and also create new upgrades by crafting them at Keeper Shrines or with a Blacksmith.
Furthermore, staff weapons can be Mythical (orange), Legendary (gold), Epic (purple), Rare (blue), Uncommon (green), and Common (grey). Additionally, all weapons in Black Myth: Wukong will have a base Attack stat. Stronger ones may have a second stat such as Critical Hit Chance.
Finally, most staves will also have a special Unique Effect. These offer a wide variety of perks to your weapon, from increased critical hit chance, boosted damage, and improved resource regeneration. Moreover, some Unique Effects are specific to transformations or certain spells, so you’ll want to make sure you have the right weapon equipped for your build.

- Heaven’s Equal: For a short duration after casting a Spell, moderately increases Critical Hit Chance. Upon Critical Hit, slightly reduces Cooldown for all Spells.
- How to Get: Found at the Water Curtain Cave, north of Mantis-Catching Swamp waypoint. Requires the Somersault Cloud to reach.
The Mythical Jingubang staff is the most powerful weapon in Black Myth: Wukong and acquiring it will be the ultimate goal of all players. It cannot be crafted, but can only be found by playing through the game and experiencing the story.
Jingubang’s unique effect is that it prevents one of your Focus Points bars from automatically depleting. This is a great bonus because Focus Points can be expended to help increase your damage against all types of enemies. Additionally, the Heaven’s Equal bonus will boost your Critical Hit Chance after casting a spell, and in turn, will also reduce the cooldown on your spells when you land a critical hit.
Spider Celestial (Legendary)
Spider Celestial Staff Stats, Special Effects, Crafting Materials, and Unique Effect for Black Myth Wukong:
- Attack: 85
- Critical Hit Chance: 12%
- Rarity: Legendary
- Unique Effect: Upon a successful hit with charged Heavy Attack, each Focus Point cost slightly recovers Health. In Poisoned State, hits inflict the enemy with Poison Bane.
- How to Get: To get the Spider Celestial staff you must first possess the Chitin Staff and then craft it with the following materials.
- Crafting Materials
- 1x Spider Leg
- 4x Gold Tree Core
- 8x Refined Iron Sand
- 30,000 Will
The Spider Celestial staff is crafted from the Chitin Staff, and therefore the base Unique effect carries over. Furthermore, it adds a bonus that when the enemy is in a Poisoned State you can hit them with this weapon and inflict Poison Bane. This debuff will then cause your opponent to be further vulnerable to Poisoned damage. Therefore, to take full advantage of this staff you’ll need to prioritize the Poison transformation to increase your damage and survivability.
Spikeshaft Staff (Legendary)
Spikeshaft Staff Stats, Special Effects, Crafting Materials, and Unique Effect for Black Myth Wukong:
- Attack: 80
- Rarity: Legendary
- Unique Effect: Continuously gains Focus for a brief moment after Seeing Through the enemy.
- How to Get: obtained after beating Chapter 3.
- Crafting Materials
- 1x Cosmo Radiance
- 4x Gold Tree Core

Players using the Smash Stance and Resolute Strike, will want Spikeshaft Staff. The extra focus when triggering a Resolute Strike will stack with damage reduction and increased stagger chance.
Staff of Blazing Karma (Legendary)
Staff of Blazing Karma Stats, Special Effects, Crafting Materials, and Unique Effect for Black Myth Wukong:
- Attack: 100
- Defense: 40
- Burn Resistance: 10
- Rarity: Legendary
- Unique Effect: Charged Heavy Attacks in Smash Stance that cost over 3 Focus Points inflict a bursting lava effect on the ground.
- How to Get: You get it in Chapter 5 after defeating all four Elemental Cart enemies.
- Crafting Materials
- 4x Sky Piercing Horns
- 4x Gold Tree Cores
- 2x Steals
- 45,000 Will
The Staff of Blazing Karma weapon will prioritize a Smash Stance build, so you can take full advantage of the Unique Effect. When you use charged heavy attacks that cost over three Focus Points while in Smash Stance, you will create a bursting lava effect on the ground. The tooltip doesn’t specify, but this may create an area that deals some damage-over-time to any enemies that stand inside. Or possibly inflict a Burn debuff on a monster.
Visionary Centipede (Legendary)
Visionary Centipede Staff Stats, Special Effects, Crafting Materials, and Unique Effect for Black Myth Wukong:
- Attack: 90
- Critical Hit Chance: 10%
- Rarity: Legendary
- Unique Effect: Upon a successful hit with charged Heavy Attack, each Focus Point cost slightly recovers Health. If the enemy is in Poisoned State, massively enhances the recovery.
- How to Get: Beating Centipede Boss after completing Chapter 4.
This staff is on the same crafting tree as Chitin and Spider Celestial and is therefore quite similar to both. The base of the Unique Effect grants you some Health recovery for each Focus Point you spend in a charged heavy attack. However, the Visionary Centipede will give you an even greater boost. So long as the enemy is in a Poisoned State, using this staff will massively increase your Health recovery.
Therefore, the Visionary Centipede is a staff that will require the use of the poison transformation, so that you can inflict the Poisoned State on monsters. Without it, you will not get the full benefit of the additional survivability this staff can provide.
Chitin (Epic)
Chitin Staff Stats, Special Effects, Crafting Materials, and Unique Effect for Black Myth Wukong:
- Attack: 80
- Critical Hit Chance: 5%

- How to Get: Defeat Second Sister in Chapter 4.
- Crafting Materials
- 1x Venomous Hair
- 1x Refined Iron Sand
- 2x Yaogaui Core
- 1,200 Will
The Chitin Staff will be a good option for players looking for some help with survivability while maintaining the ability to go on the offensive. Focus Points are a resource that you build by landing successful hits on enemies, charging, and Perfect Dodge maneuvers. Once you have filled up bars of Focus Points, you can use them to deal with additional damage with a powerful blow.
When you use the Chitin Staff, each time you land a Heavy Attack using Focus Points, each point you consume will also slightly recover some Health. Consequently, this staff can give you an edge and help you stay alive during difficult combat.
Chu-Bai Spear (Epic)
Chu-Bai Spear Stats, Special Effects, Crafting Materials, and Unique Effect for Black Myth Wukong:
- Attack: 75
- Rarity: Epic

The Chu-Bai Spear is primarily meant for use with a Thrust Stance build and will be the only way you can trigger its Unique Effect. This will allow you to integrate spear skills into your light attack combos. Furthermore, it will also increase the Damage dealt by any Thrust Stance moves.
This weapon only comes with an Attack stat and does not include any helpful secondary stat. However, as an epic-level weapon, this is something you’ll want to acquire if you plan on using the Thrust Stance the most often.
Kang-Jin Staff (Epic)
Kang-Jin Staff Stats, Special Effects, Crafting Materials, and Unique Effect for Black Myth Wukong:
- Attack: 70
- Critical Hit Chance: 6%
- Rarity: Epic
- Unique Effect: Punishing Downpour executes Thunder Damage to the enemy instead of area Damage.
- How to Get: Defeat Kang-Jin Loong in Snowhill Path – Mirrormere at The New West.
- Crafting Materials
- 1x Starlit Cloud-Bidden Antler
- 4x Refined Iron Sand
- 8x Yaoguai Core
- 21,000 Will
The epic Kang-Jin staff has a unique effect that transforms the Punishing Downpour ability so that it deals Thunder damage instead of basic damage. Punishing Downpour is a Martial Arts skill that you can trigger after six successful hits with the first four moves Light Attack Combo. Then, the Light Attack Finisher will deal extra area damage.
Furthermore, it’s possible that Thunder damage may provide some kind of knock-back or inflict a stun on enemies. The benefit that the Kang-Jin staff provides has a very narrow focus on a single ability, but if you have the skills to regularly execute Punishing Downpour then it could be well worth it.
Loongwreathe Staff (Epic)

- Crafting Materials
- 1x Samadhi Wind Agate
- 4x Refined Iron Sand
- 8x Yaogui Core
- 21,000 Will
Triggering the Unique Effect of the Rat Sage Staff is complex but the resulting sandstorm is worth it. To bring the whirlwind to life you must use a mobile staff spin on the fourth move of your light attack combo. In Black Myth: Wukong, light attack combos are successful successive hits with light attacks. Moreover, you can trigger a Mobile Staff spin by moving forward while using your regular staff spin.
Therefore, on the fourth move of your light attack combo, you’ll want to use your staff spin ability while walking forward. Doing so correctly will create a sandstorm that increases attack range and damage. This will take practice before you can trigger this effect at will, but the increase to your DPS will be well worth the effort.
Cloud-Pattered Stone Staff (Rare)
Cloud-Pattered Stone Staff Stats, Special Effects, Crafting Materials, and Unique Effect for Black Myth Wukong:
- Attack: 60
- Defense: 30

The Cloud-Patterned Stone Staff is another weapon that you will want to use when you are focusing on a Smash Stance build due to the Unique Effect. It will increase the damage of all heavy attacks that are done when using the Smash Stance. Additionally, this weapon has a different secondary stat than many other staves. While the Cloud-Patterned Stone Staff does not give you any kind of critical hit chance, it does provide a boost to your Defense.

- 4x Yaoguai Core
- 8x Stone Spirit
- 8,100 Will
The Wind Bear Staff is made to be used in conjunction with the Cloud Step spell and Unveiling Strike, so that you can increase your chance of a critical hit. Cloud Step is a way for you to leave behind a decoy image of yourself so that you can evade an attack or lure an enemy into a trap. Moreover, you enter a mist state to remain hidden for a time.
You can attack from this state to catch opponents off guard and this move is called the Unveiling Strike. When executing this move while wielding the Wind Bear Staff you will have a much stronger chance of striking them with a critical hit.
Bronze Cloud Staff (Uncommon)
Bronze Cloud Staff Stats, Special Effects, Crafting Materials, and Unique Effect for Black Myth Wukong:

- Critical Hit Chance: 2%
- Rarity: Uncommon
- Unique Effect: None

The Bronze Cloud staff is a step up from the basic common staff and it will give you a slightly higher attack stat along with a very tiny chance at critical hits. While 2% certainly won’t happen very often, it’s better than nothing. This will be a staff that is useful in the early game, but keep collecting crafting materials as you progress so that you can craft a better upgrade as soon as you can.
Twin Serpents Staff (Uncommon)
Twin Serpents Staff Stats, Special Effects, Crafting Materials, and Unique Effect for Black Myth Wukong:

- 8x Stone Spirit
- 2,700 Will
The Twin Serpent Staff is a solid starter staff that will increase the damage of all your light attack combo finishers. Moreover, if you’re fighting in water than this damage will be increased massively. When using this staff you’ll want to be highly aware of your environment and if there are any water features nearby. We don’t yet know how often water will occur while traveling in Black Myth: Wukong, but the overall increase to light attack combo finishers is a good early-game boost on its own.
Willow Wood Staff (Common)
Willow Wood Staff Stats, Special Effects, Crafting Materials, and Unique Effect for Black Myth Wukong:
- Attack: 30
- Critical Hit Chance: None
- Rarity: Common
- Unique Effect: None
- How to Get: Basic weapon given to you at the beginning of the game.

The Willow Wood Staff is one of the basic weapons you will start the game using. It has a very low attack stat and also has absolutely no critical hit chance. Furthermore, it does not have a Unique Effect either. However, it will eventually have several new upgraded forms that you can craft from it. This includes the Wind Bear, Rat Sage, and Kang-Jin staves.
Therefore, you’ll want to prioritize collecting the necessary ingredients so that you can upgrade this staff to something stronger as soon as possible because out of all the weapons Black Myth: Wukong its necessary to upgrade so you increase Stats and how to get others on this list.
