Learn how to defend against fury attack in our guide, a unique defensive mechanic in Throne and Liberty MMORPG.
What Are Fury Attacks in Throne and Liberty?
Fury Attack in Throne and Liberty is a unique attack by the players or monsters. The players gain special effects when blocked, depending on the type of attack blocked and the type of block used. However, Fury Attacks are usually more powerful than other attacks, causing a detrimental effect on the target when they connect, such as a damage over time effect or stun. When fighting PvE enemies, you’ll encounter Fury Attacks quite often. A purple circle indicator appears on top of an enemy, warning you that the enemy will use a Fury Attack against you. The purple indicator helps you to time your response correctly.
You’ll need at least 35% of your stamina to block the Fury Attack to initiate the block; it doesn’t matter if it’s a stand block or roll block. Your stamina will always refill constantly. If your stamina is below 35%, you also have a marker on your stamina bar to see when you actually can block again. Defensive skill is a unique mechanic in this game where you can parry or perfect block abilities that come out from any number of enemies and it’s a huge part of your kit and an ability to interact with the game and use it properly.
Our guide to Fury Attacks will teach you how to avoid or even take advantage of incoming damage in Throne and Liberty.
How to Defend Against Fury Attack
The best way to defend against a fury attack from enemies is by pressing your defensive skill when the purple circle overlaps with the smaller purple circle. You can avoid Fury Attacks from the weak melee mobs by simply moving away. In several scenarios, you can also use the Defensive Skill, which you can apply by pressing the “Q” key on your PC. Alongside the active and passive skills of a weapon, every weapon in the game has a defensive skill that you can choose one to slot from your equipped weapons.
You’ll see a purple bar circle over the enemy when the enemy is about to use the Fury Attackt at you. However, the purple indicator looks like two circle shapes gradually merging and the attack will connect after the shapes converge. Aim for a Perfect Block or Perfect Dodge to accurately defend against Fury Attacks. Your goal is to activate your defensive skill simultaneously as the attack lands. Use that purple indicator as a warning to perfectly block the Fury attack.
Blocking the attack before the time runs out will alleviate some attacks, but it is not as efficient as a perfect block. If you fail to get a perfect block, then some harder bosses in the game will give you massive damage for this failure.
Tips to Defend against Fury Attack
The best way to defend a Fury Attack is to block or time the purple circle overlapping. Below are additional tips for Fury Attacks in Throne and Liberty:
- It’s good to block earlier than later because when you block after the attack then you’ll take full damage from the Fury Attack. Players playing with high ping will face the effects of the timing of their block, so try to account for that when timing it.
- If you’re getting damage in your block then it also consumes additional stamina. However, if you’re actually blocking a lot of damage then your stamina might be at the end but your block is never being canceled by that. If you have no stamina anymore it will always block all attacks until your block animation is done.
- Use your defensive skill to defend against Fury Attacks as it will activate the skill again to perform a counterattack against the opponent. These counterattacks are powerful and can turn the match scenario, so try to get good to timing your defense.
- Defending against a Fury Attack with a Greatsword equipped changes Iron Point Parry to Murderous Draw. It deals bonus damage with an 80% chance to stun the attacking target. You can best defend against the Fury Attack by using your defensive skill at the right moment for a perfect defense.
It’s worth remembering that each weapon in Throne and Liberty has its defensive skill, which uses stamina instead of mana and appears on the left of your User Interface when used. Special effects occur when you perfectly defend against a Fury Attack, and timing is crucial to increasing your build’s potential.
Perfect Fury Attack Explained
Stationery and Rolling are two different types of fury attacks in Throne and Liberty, and each requires a different defending strategy. Both of these attacks have Perfect Block windows and regular Defense windows. A portion of the skill or attack damage is blocked when getting a regular defense, and you get some of the special benefits from the block you utilize. If you can block all the damage during a perfect block you’ll gain bonus effects from your block.
Fury Attacks in PvE always have a purple round marker. In the open world and lower dungeons, these cycles will become smaller and smaller, signaling you when you have to block. However, in PvP there’ll be no indicator to warn you that a Fury attack is coming. All you need to do here is to recognize the skill being cast and know if you can block or not. You can block an infinite number of attacks while having your block active. As mentioned earlier, your stamina will be consumed during a block.

However, there will be no warning in the form of a purple indicator and all of these Fury Attacks are stationary and you can block with a rolling Block or a stationary Block.
Rolling Attacks
Rolling Fury Attacks are unique attacks you can see in the game’s PvE content. In PvP, a diamond-shaped indicator appears and starts closing towards its center. Press the Block key while moving in any direction to perform a Rolling Block as soon as the indicator closes. Once successfully done, you see the ‘Perfect Block’ text. And gain beneficial effects based on the skill you utilized to block. The rolling attacks can get block with a Dodge Roll. However, upon using the other type of block during a Rolling Attack. Now, you’ll get a hit and take massive damage.
Perfect Fury Defensive Skill
When you’re attacking a normal mob, periodically, the mob will do a fury attack. A concentric purple ring will appear and start to close down. You can use the defensive ability at any time. And it will give you a defensive bonus while it’s active. If the enemy uses a fury attack you pop the defensive attack right as that hits you. You get a perfect which gives you a bonus effect based on which defensive attack you have.
The Fury attacks are dangerous, especially in Dungeons and boss encounters. If you get hit by this, you could get knocked back. And get stunned or get hit with a giant fire debuff. So, when this comes in then you pop your defensive attack and you get a perfect. Based on whatever skill you choose, you get a huge bonus, power, huge heal, or a single target ability.
