In Black Myth: Wukong, you play as the main protagonist the Destined One and along the way you will be able to collect materials to create various masks, other armor pieces and armor sets. Furthermore, you will not be able to craft new sets until you collect the rare materials from defeating specific boss monsters.

Additionally, all types of armor can be categorized as either Legendary (gold), Epic (purple), Rare (blue), Uncommon (green), or Common (grey). All armors in Black Myth: Wukong will have a base Defense stat. Moreover, certain pieces may have a secondary stat that provide an additional resistance.

Finally, there are also some armor sets in the game where you can gain additional bonuses from wearing two, three, or four pieces from the set. Many armors will also have a Unique Effect, and some armors may even offer both a unique effect as well as a set bonus.

How to Get Armor?

In Black Myth: Wukong, gear and armor sets can offer powerful Unique Effects and can greatly enhance your character’s performance. Here’s how you can get them:

• Drops from Boss Monsters: Armor is obtained via progression Black Myth: Wukong, and you must kill boss monsters to obtain the rare materials necessary for crafting new gear. Collecting these rare materials will unlock new crafting recipes for a new armor set and weapon.
• Crafting at Keeper Shrines: Crafting armor will require the rare materials dropped from bosses, some standard materials you gather throughout the world, and Will. You can only craft new armor when you visit a Keeper Shrine or a Blacksmith.

Finally, there are no random armor drops in Black Myth: Wukong. However, there are certain headgear pieces that can drop from special elite enemies. Furthermore, these drops are not guaranteed, but in our playtime experience found them dropping in around 3-4 attempts.

The Centipede Hat of Transcendence is a legendary headgear piece that is part of the Poison Ward set, which will not only protect you from poison damage but also increase your attack while you are effected by the poison debuff. This set will be a game changer anytime you are going up against boss that deals poison damage and can inflict you with Poisoned State. While wearing two pieces won’t entirely protect you from the damage-over-time, it will make it a lot more survivable. Furthermore, if you can collect all four pieces, becoming Poisoned will actually turn into a benefit because it will boost your attack damage and help you take the enemy down faster.

Non-Pure Set (Legendary)

Non-Pure Broken Mask Stats, Special Effects, Crafting Materials, and Unique Effect for Black Myth Wukong:

• Rarity: Legendary
• Unique Effect: For a brief moment after de-transforming and exiting spirit skills, all action cost no stamina (legs)
• Set Bonus: From Mud to Lotus
  • 2 pieces – Mud that stains upon De-Transformation and exiting Spirit Skills grants considerable Damage Reduction for a short duration.
  • 4 pieces – When stained with mud, increases Might recovery rate. Dodges and Perfect Dodges also recover a small amount of additional Might.
• How to Get: Craftable after defeating Zhu Bajie in Chapter 5

The Non-Pure Broken Mask is a legendary headgear piece that is part of the From Mud to Lotus set, which will grant you damage reduction and Might recovery when you are stained with Mud. Might is a resource in Black Myth: Wukong that you will need to generate until the gauge is full before you can transform. While you are in that form the bar will deplete and when it empties you will automatically de-transform. Therefore, this gear set will be useful for transforming more often, and also for boosting defense while you are vulnerable after reverting to your normal form.

Golden Set (Legendary)

Golden Mask of Fury Stats, Special Effects, Crafting Materials, and Unique Effect for Black Myth Wukong:

• Defense: 36
• Rarity: Legendary
• Unique Effect: Upon successful hits from Spirit skills, grants massive Focus upon reverting.
• Set Bonus: Gilded Radiance
  • 2 pieces – For a short duration after performing a Spirit Skill or using a Vessel considerably increases attack.
  • 4 pieces – Upon Critical Hits and defeats, grants a small amount of Qi.
• How to Get: obtained after completing Chapter 3.

The Golden Mask for Fury is a legendary headgear piece that is part of the Gilded Radiance set, which grants bonuses based on the use of Spirit Skills and Qi. The set bonuses from wearing two of these pieces will increase the damage of your normal attacks after you’ve used a Spirit skill. Additionally, you can get this same effect by using a Vessel. Wearing all four pieces of the Gilded Radiance set will return some Qi to you, which is a resource you need for Spirit skills.

Moreover, this piece also has a unique effect that grants you a large amount of Focus if you are successful with hitting your opponent with your Spirit skills. However, you won’t see the increase until you revert back to your normal form.

Loongscale Set (Epic)

The Loongscale Battlerobe is an epic body armor that is part of the Thunder Veins set, which reduces the duration of the Shocked State debuff, and also increases your Thunder Damage.

Moreover, the Loongscale Battlerobe also comes with a unique effect that turns the explosion from Vengeful Mirage into Thunder Damage. Vengeful Mirage is a skill on the Stamina skill tree under Foundation abilities. After unlocking it, executing a perfect dodge will leave behind an illusion that explodes instantly. When wearing the Loongscale Battlerobe this area-of-effect burst will become thunderous.

Insect Set (Epic)

The Locust Antennae Mask is an epic headgear piece that is not part of a set but does come with a unique effect. Wearing this mask will increase the power of all your jump attacks. The best way to use this headgear piece would be to equip it while you are wearing another 3 piece armor set. Otherwise, you will have an odd number out if you try to use it with one of the two and four-piece sets.

Orchre Battlerobe (Epic)

The Ochre Battlerobe is an epic body armor that is part of the Raging Sandstorm set, which increases the durability of your Decoy and Duplicates. Decoys are created by the Cloud Step spell under the Alteration tab. When you cast the spell you turn to mist and leave behind a decoy that the enemy will attack in your place. Duplicates are created by using the A Pluck of Many spell in the Strand tab. Duplicates are similar to decoys, with the difference that there are many of them.

While useful as a distraction, these magical creations are initially weak and don’t last long. Therefore, you can help improve their survivability with the Raging Sandstorm three-piece set.

Snout Mask (Rare)

The Galeguard Beast Mask is a rare headgear piece that is part of the Gale Guardian set, which can give you additional Focus and reduce spell cooldowns when you successfully complete a perfect dodge. The usefulness of this set will highly depend on player skill. If you’ve mastered the timing of perfect dodges, then this should be a full set you collect. However, if you are struggling to successfully perform perfect dodges, then it may be best to focus on another set of armor.

Ebongold Set (Rare)

The Ebongold Silk Robe is a rare body armor that is part of the Dance of the Black Wind set, which creates an area-of-effect whirlwind that will damage enemies in a nearby radius. Additionally, this whirlwind can only be triggered while you are in mist form during the Cloud Step spell. Moreover, the whirlwind will also encompass your decoy, as well, giving them added protection.

Bronze Set (Rare)

The Bronze Monkey Mask is a rare headgear piece that is part of the Evil Crasher set, which will boost your damage when crashing immobilized enemies and reduce the cooldown for the Immobilize spell. Immobilize is a spell that is part of the Mysticism talent tree, and it’s a way to freeze your enemies temporarily so that you can deal damage without fear of retaliation. Combine this set with heavy investment in the Immobilize talents to create a powerful build that can regularly freeze your opponents in place.

Guanyin’s Prayer Beads (Uncommon)

Every physical movement in the game costs Stamina – light and heavy attacks, charged attacks, sprinting, dodging, etc. Therefore, wearing this set while fighting a boss in water will allow you to make a lot more attacks. However, depending on your environment, water might not be readily available.

As an uncommon armor piece, this mask is probably a lot more useful in the early game when opponents are easier to defeat. In the later game you will have a lot more two and four-piece armor sets to choose from that will not be able to include this mask. However, if you decide to use a three-piece set, then the Grey Wolf Mask could be a viable option.

Pilgrim Set (Uncommon)

The Pilgrim’s Headband is an uncommon headgear piece that is part of the Swift Pilgrim set, which will increase your sprint speed and also let you stack attack increase while running to hit an opponent. This set is straightforward to understand and its four-piece bonus is easy to trigger.

Moreover, the Pilgrim’s Headband also comes with a unique effect that allows you to use the gourd while you are sprinting. The Swift Pilgrim’s set is perhaps one of the best early-game armor sets if you can manage to collect all four pieces.

The Folk Opera Almsgiving Armor is an uncommon body armor that is part of the Every Bit Counts set, which will increase the Will you gain from defeating an enemy. In Black Myth: Wukong, Will is a resource that you can use to craft and upgrade weapons. You will need quite a lot of it to craft the higher-level mythical, legendary, and epic staves. Consequently, this four-piece set and help you get those end-game weapons faster.
