Pokemon Legends Z-A is bringing back the fan favorite mechanic of Mega Evolution. While fans have definitely been delighted at the return of several Mega Evolving Pokemon, there is also a growing excitement over which Pokemon might potentially get new Mega Evolutions. These vary from fan favorites like the starters of Pokemon Legends Z-A to certain Pokemon that were passed over for a Mega Evolution the first time.

So let’s take a look at which Pokemon would benefit the most from receiving a Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends Z-A.

Pokemon Who Deserve a Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends Z-A

These Pokemon would benefit greatly from a Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends Z-A

  • Meganium
  • Emboar
  • Feraligatr
  • Flygon
  • Milotic
  • Victreebel
  • Scrafty
  • Pyroar
  • Zygarde
  • Eternal Flower Floette

10) Meganium

As the Grass-type starter in Pokemon Legends Z-A, Meganium is a prime candidate for a Mega Evolution. And out of all three starters, it’s the one that needs it the most. This is because it has struggled both competitively and in-game in its role as a defensive Grass-type. Getting a Mega Evolution, preferably with a useful secondary typing like Fairy, might give it the much-needed edge it needs.

9) Emboar

Emboar has a decent typing in Fire/Fighting and has done ok in both games set in the Unova region. However, competitively speaking it is handily outclassed by fellow Fire/Fighting starters Infernape and Blaziken. The latter even has its own Mega Evolution!

If Emboar got a Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends Z-A that would patch some of its issues like its low speed or its mediocre bulk, it would benefit greatly from it.

8) Feraligatr

Feraligatr has always struggled as a physically inclined Water-type, always stuck in the shadow of Gyarados, even in games set in Johto. As such it needs something more to make players consider it over the Atrocious Pokémon. Getting a Mega Evolution with either better stats or a new secondary typing would help it out in that regard.

7) Flygon

Flygon was unlucky not to get a Mega Evolution during Generation VI, which solely came down to the fact that the design team couldn’t find a design that was an improvement over the original. It would be a shame if this Ground/Dragon got unlucky twice in a row, so let’s hope it gets the Mega Evolution it deserves in Pokemon Legends Z-A.

6) Milotic

Milotic was another victim of the design team’s failure to give it a satisfactory Mega Evolution. It could use one at this point, as its stats and pure Water-typing are not enough to keep it competitively relevant. Considering how popular Milotic is, fans would certainly be happy if Legends Z-A finally gave us Mega Milotic.

5) Victreebel

Out of all the Grass-types from Kanto, Victreebel is the only one to have not received any notable buffs (except maybe Vileplume, but the Oddish line does have two evolution lines). While its move set has been updated, its stats keep it lagging. It could heavily benefit from a Mega Evolution that gave it a higher Speed stat and increased either its Attack or Special Attack or both.

4) Scrafty

Scrafty is necessarily a bad Pokemon, as Fighting/Dark is a great offensive combination. However, it is nowhere near as good as it could be, considering how Urshifu Single Strike has used the same typing to dominate the meta. So, a Mega Evolution with the same typing but a better ability like Adaptability or improved Attack and Speed stats.

3) Pyroar

Pyroar has a cool design…and that’s pretty much the only compliment it gets. Everything from its typing, its stats, its ability, etc., is very sub-par. As such, it needs far too many buffs, which could be covered in the form of a single Mega Evolution.

2) Zygarde

Look Zygarde has been very unlucky. Didn’t get its own game in its debut generation, with its story being relegated to a sub-plot in Pokemon Sun and Moon. It finally gets its own game 12 years later, where it hasn’t even been a focus in the marketing. With all the times it has ended up pushed to the background, it deserves something special this time around.

1) Eternal Flower Floette

This is an odd choice, but I think it could be something special. Eternal Flower Floette, or AZ’s Floette, is returning in this game, and it might be interesting if we get to see it use more special abilities besides Light of Ruin, which was never available to the player.

Letting players use this special Floette would be pretty amazing, especially if we also see it get a new Mega Evolution. This could tie into the story of Pokemon Legends Z-A, with the fact that a middle-stage Pokemon could use Mega Evolution being used as a fun reveal.
