Class 1-A often takes center stage in My Hero Academia, but Class 1-B also has powerful and capable students. Although they receive less attention, many possess strong, versatile Quirks that make them formidable in battle. Throughout the Joint Training Arc and other story moments, Class 1-B proves they can hold their own against 1-A’s top fighters.

This article ranks the 10 strongest Class 1-B students based on Quirk power, combat experience, adaptability, and overall battle effectiveness.

10) Kojiro Bondo

Kojiro Bondo, also known as Plamo, has a Quirk called Cemedine, which allows him to shoot out a fast-drying adhesive substance from his body. While this may not seem as flashy as some other Quirks, it is extremely useful on a battlefield, as he can use it to trap opponents and create obstacles to slow down enemies.

Kojiro is shown to be easygoing and kind, as he seems to get along well with his classmates. Due to his massive build, he can carry others without breaking a sweat. Others describe him as a gentle giant. He often stammers while speaking due to his shy nature. During the Joint Training Arc, he proved himself to be useful as a mid-range fighter. Currently, he is training to be a Pro Hero.

9) Shihai Kuroiro

Shihai Kuroiro is also known as Vantablack. He has one of the most unique Quirks in Class 1-B. His Quirk is called Black; it allows him to merge himself into shadows and move through them. This ability makes him a great stealth-based fighter with extreme mobility. His power makes him nearly undetectable in a dark environment, which is useful for sneaking past defenses or attacking from unexpected places.

He is very sly and enjoys catching people off guard. Kuroiro enjoys dark concepts and giving dramatic speeches, similar to Fumikage Tokoyami. He maintains discipline and excels in a team setting, as Kuroiro engages in close-quarters combat while also supporting his team from a distance.

8) Reiko Yanagi

Reiko Yanagi, also known as Emily, possesses the Quirk Poltergeist, which allows her to control objects telekinetically. Her Quirk has one weakness—she cannot pick up extremely heavy objects. However, her mastery of it makes her a strong support in battle, allowing her to use floating debris and weapons or even block enemies.

She is the quiet, emotionless teenager type who often has an odd posture. She is a fan of horror and enjoys reading scary stories online. Despite all of this, she comes across as a timid person, as she seems intimidated by Neito Monoma and calls him scary. She is currently training to become a Pro Hero.

7) Hiryu Rin

Hiryu Rin, also known as Dragon Shroud, possesses the Quirk Scales, which enables him to grow dragon-like scales all over his body. It allows him to enhance his durability and strength. Unlike Tetsutetsu’s steel-hardening Quirk, his scales are more flexible and allow him to move more freely while maintaining a strong defense.

He likes working with others and is highly disciplined. Rin works well in team-based fights, using his durability to protect allies while applying offensive pressure. Moreover, he is a great mid-range fighter, as his scales can be used for both attack and defense. Currently, he is training to be a Pro Hero.

6) Ibara Shiozaki

Ibara, also known as Vine, is one of the strongest long-range fighters in the series. Her Quirk is called Vine; it allows her to grow and control thorny vines from her hair. This is a great ability for both offense and defense. Also, Ibara has great control over her powers, making her an incredibly versatile opponent. She has a strong sense of justice and maintains her composure in a fight. With these powers, Ibara can choose to attack multiple people at once or strike with precision at any key target.

She is very modest and soft-spoken. Usually, she comes across as highly religious, as Ibara talks a lot about heaven and divine beings. As she prefers honesty and righteousness, Ibara refuses to participate in any plan that she deems deceitful. Ibara has graduated from U.A. High School and has become a Pro Hero along with her classmates.

5) Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu

Also known as Hidden Steel, he is often compared to Eijiro Kirishima from Class 1-A, as they have similar Quirks and fighting styles. Tetsutetsu’s Quirk allows his body to turn into an indestructible metal form while also hardening it, making him a difficult opponent to face. As his strength keeps increasing, he becomes highly resistant to damage.

He is shown to be easily angered and straightforward in his motivations and actions. This also reflects his desire to prove himself as an equal-level fighter to Class 1-A. He felt the other class looked down on them and disliked Bakugo for being arrogant toward him and his classmates.

Tetsutetsu is great at close combat, as he is able to take attacks head-on with minimal effects, showcasing his high endurance and power. He can also withstand Todoroki’s ice and fire attacks, proving that his Quirk has minimal weaknesses. Unlike Kirishima, he does not have a time limit, making him more durable in battle. He is the current No. 26 Pro Hero.

4) Kendo Itsuka

Itsuka Kendo, also known as Battle Fist, is the class representative. She not only dominates the class with her strength but also gains recognition for her intelligence. She calls her Quirk Big Fist, which allows her to enlarge her hands, significantly boosting her power and enabling her to lift objects easily. Even though it sounds like a simple Quirk, she has become a significantly powerful hero by refining her martial arts skills and tactical thinking, making her extremely dangerous.

She is always thoughtful of others and does not hesitate to chime in and correct her classmates if she feels they are wrong. Itsuka is friendly to everyone and does not hold a grudge against Class 1-A. During the Joint Training Arc, she was able to neutralize Monoma. Being an expert in hand-to-hand combat with her massive fists is a perfect recipe for overpowering any opponent. She is the current No. 23 Pro Hero.

3) Setsuna Tokage

People also call Setsuna Tokage “Lizardy,” and she possesses one of the most versatile quirks in Class 1-B. Her quirk, Lizard Tail Splitter, lets her split her body into multiple floating pieces, which she controls independently. This makes her an incredible fighter, as she can dodge attacks, launch unpredictable assaults, and disorient her opponents.

She is one of the few students who does not hold any grudge against the Class 1-A students. Tokage is described as talkative and very friendly with others. She is very reliable, and her teammates have full faith in her as they do not hesitate for a minute to follow her. She is the current No. 22 Pro Hero.

2) Juzo Honenuki

Juzo Honenuki, also known as Mudman, possesses a Quirk called Softening. His powers allow him to turn any non-living thing he touches into a soft, mud-like substance. This gives him the advantage of manipulating the battlefield to trap or destabilize the opponent.

He hates losing but admits to being stubborn during a battle, even if the outcome is unfavorable to him. We see his tactical awareness and quick thinking during the Joint Training Arc, where he effectively counters Class 1-A’s strong members. His quirk is especially useful in team-based combat, as he can support his team while disrupting the opponents.

Moreover, his ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to different battle situations quickly makes him one of the stronger characters from Class 1-B. He is the current No. 14 Pro Hero.

1) Neito Monoma

People also call Monoma the Phantom Thief. He poses a significant challenge in battle since his quirk, Copy, lets him temporarily use others’ quirks simply by touching them. He can steal multiple quirks and use them with his unique combination of skills. Although he has a time limit of five minutes, Monoma is strong enough to do significant damage.

Another limitation he has is that if he copies a quirk without having complete knowledge of how to use it, it becomes useless. For example, he cannot steal All Might’s power (One For All).

Monoma has a complex personality. He is usually calm, kind, and intelligent, but when he sees anyone from 1-A, he becomes deranged and sarcastic, trying to provoke them out of hatred. Neito is shown to have an inferiority complex. It is during the final war that he finally accepts himself and proves his strength to the world by ensuring that Tomura is contained for so long. He has become the current No. 10 Pro Hero.

Conclusion

Class 1-B may not have as much real-world combat experience as Class 1-A, but their rigorous training and strategic fighting style make them just as powerful. These ten students from Class 1-B prove that they can stand alongside the best heroes-in-training in My Hero Academia. With unique and powerful Quirks, these students bring depth and variety to the series, showing that Class 1-B is just as strong and capable as its rivals in Class 1-A.
