2XKO is a fighting game that features a competitive rank game mode. This is where your skills will be put to the test against other players with the same competitive spirit as you. However, climbing the ladder is no easy task. Only the most skilled players can rise to the highest tiers.

With that said, knowing how the competitive ladder works is important in 2XKO. This lets you understand how much effort you need to put in to reach each tier. This includes the amount of points you gain per win and how much you lose on defeat.

Here is a guide on everything you need to know about the 2XKO competitive rank system.

Just like all other Riot Games titles, 2XKO also follows a tier-based progression system in its ranked mode. Your goal is to climb through 10 ranks, with each having its own respective tiers and skill ceiling.

You will have to progress through each tier of a specific rank in order to hit a promotion. The more tiers you drop through defeats, you can also get demoted. You start with the Aspirant rank and climb your way up to Challenger.

List of All Ranks and Tiers

Here is a list of all the ranks and how many tiers they have in 2XKO:

RankTiers
AspirantI, II, III
IronI, II, III
BronzeI, II, III
SilverI, II, III
GoldI, II, III
PlatinumI, II, III
EmeraldI, II, III
DiamondI, II, III
MasterI, II, III
GrandmasterNo tiers
ChallengerNo tiers

The Grandmaster and Challenger tiers no longer follow a tier-based system. Instead, you gain points on victory. Once you reach the top 500 players, you will be promoted to Challenger. This is where the elite of the elite will clash to decide who stands tall on the competitive leaderboard.

What are Ranked Points?

Winning in ranked matches in 2XKO will earn you Ranked Points (RP). Earning enough of these points will allow you to get promoted to higher tiers or ranks. However, losing points can also lead to demotions. The amount of RP you gain or lose per match will be based on the performance of both you and your opponent.

Each tier requires a total of 100 RP to head to the next tier. For example, earning 100 RP in Aspirant Tier II will promote you to Aspirant Tier III. Earn another 100 RP, and you will be promoted to Iron Tier I.

If you earn a surplus of points, they will be added to your next progression. For example, if you have 99 points in Iron Tier I and earn 10 RP, you get promoted to Iron Tier II with an extra 9 RP on your progress bar.

Rank Placement Matches Explained

2XKO also follows a mechanic called Placement Matches that determines your starting rank in the game. You need to complete a total of 5 competitive rank matches to complete your placement. Your performance, specifically your number of wins and losses, will decide where you begin on the ranked ladder.

Be careful when playing with a duo during placement matches. If your partner is on a higher rank placement, you could face tougher opponents. It is best to practice on regular matches first and find your comfort champion before jumping to ranked games.

Demotion Safety Nets

If you feel intimidated by the game’s ranking system, don’t worry. 2XKO offers a safety net to make it less frustrating when you are having bad games. If you lose a game, which might cause a demotion, you don’t immediately drop your rank. Instead, your RP drops to 0 first. This gives you one last chance to redeem yourself and gain more RP.

For example, you are in Gold I with 5 RP to spare. You lose a match, which deducts 9 RP. Instead of dropping immediately to Silver III, you stay in Gold I, but with 0 RP left. You can play another match to win and recover your points. However, if you lose your next match, you will earn a demotion.

Best-of-3 (Bo3) Rematch System

Another feature you need to keep in mind is the rematch system in 2XKO. After every match, you and your opponent can decide to play another round and settle the score in a Best-of-3 series. This means the one who wins twice in three rounds is considered the true winner of the match.

This not only gives you a second chance, but it also gives you an advantage by knowing your opponent’s playstyle and champion picks. You can then try to outsmart them in the next round. However, keep in mind that they can also do the same to you.
