Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is Warhorse’s magnum opus. It improved upon the original game in almost every single way possible. The pacing is better, the mechanics are more accessible, and the graphics are better. The list of improvements could go on for a while without ending, proving how much Warhorse learned over the years.

In addition, the release of this sequel brought Warhorse a lot of success. The series went from an underrated game on Kickstarter to a massively successful AAA game that surpassed many other RPGs.

2. Nioh 2

Team Ninja improved upon the original Nioh in every single way possible with the sequel. In all honesty, it can be said that there is nothing the original Nioh does better than the sequel. From the combat to a gorgeous character creator and build variety, everything that one would need in a Soulslike is present here. In addition, the game is also much more gorgeous graphically than the original Nioh.

The original Nioh had a lackluster story, and Nioh 2 tried to improve it to some small success. But it is by no means bad and is still very enjoyable.

3. Assassin’s Creed 2

The original Assassin’s Creed has some flaws. Namely, exploration feels somewhat tedious, and the cast is not as fleshed out and relatable as it could’ve been. Ubisoft realized this and fixed everything in Assassin’s Creed 2. We have a fantastic main character in Ezio and amazing supporting characters such as Leonardo da Vinci. Additionally, the main premise of the story is much more engaging compared to the previous entry.

Assassin’s Creed 2 was massively successful, to the point many players call it the best one in the series.

4. Batman: Arkham City

Batman: Arkham Asylum is widely considered to be the savior of superhero games, and for good reason. The game introduced a satisfying combat system, alongside a story that might as well be straight out of the comics. In addition, the game has a dark and gritty atmosphere not present in any other superhero game.

The sequel, Arkham City, took the franchise to an open-world setting and upped the stakes. With quality boss fights, story, characters, and side quests, it is no wonder that this game won Game of the Year in 2011.

5. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the game that put CD Projekt Red and The Witcher franchise on the map. The game has arguably one of the best stories in gaming and the best side quests in gaming. With a rich open world that encourages exploration, everyone sang The Witcher 3’s praises back in 2015 and continues to do so to this day. Additionally, it won almost every Game of The Year award back then.

The success of this game also boosted the books’ sales and greenlit a Witcher Netflix show.
