1. God of War Ragnarok (2022)

The God of War games are easily one of the best examples of games based on mythologies. However, Ragnarok takes it to another level as we actually get to interact with and learn more about the Norse gods. Additionally, we also get to explore all the iconic Norse realms and even experience the events of Ragnarok, which is one of the major reasons why Norse mythology is so popular.
As Santa Monica incorporated these deities so brilliantly in the story, they made one of the best ways to experience this mythology in general.
2. Black Myth: Wukong (2024)

Black Myth: Wukong is based on Journey to the West, which in turn is heavily based on Chinese Mythology. The main character, Sun Wukong, is easily one of the most well-known mythological characters of all time. All of his iconic abilities in the myths are present here, as there is a character progression system that unlocks different skills for Sun Wukong.
His staff, Ruyi Jingu Bang, is also present in this game, as it is his primary weapon. This game is easily one of the best ways to experience Chinese mythology, as both the combat and the presentation are top-notch.
3. Ryse: Son of Rome (2013)

Ryse: Son of Rome is easily one of the most underrated games of all time. Made on the CryEngine, it is an incredibly beautiful game that still looks good to this day. Additionally, as the name implies, the game is set during the height of the Roman Empire and features many missions that showcase different skirmishes of the Romans.
At a few points in this game, the story will feature some Roman deities. While they are not as prominent as in games like God of War, they are still very interesting and enhance this great game even further.
4. Assassin’s Creed Origins (2017)

Assassin’s Creed Origins marked the franchise’s transformation into a full-blown RPG. It is set in Egypt, and allows players to explore everything fascinating about that area at its peak time, which includes the Pyramids of Giza. Additionally, in some side missions, players also have the option to face off against the iconic Egyptian deities, which include Anubis, Sekhmet, and Sobek.
While Assassin’s Creed games have always been based on mythologies to an extent, Origins takes it to a whole other level.
5. Elden Ring (2022)

Elden Ring is one of the greatest games of all time, and while it isn’t directly based on a mythology, it has references to it. Mainly, references to Norse mythology are prominent in Elden Ring, as the Erdtree is heavily inspired by Yggdrasil. Additionally, the demigods and their actions also mirror some of the deities present in Norse mythology, as some of them are rivals and battle each other.
The Erdtree and Yggdrasil even function in the same way, as both dictate the flow of life and death.
