The RTX 4080 Laptop GPU comes with 12GB of VRAM and represents the previous generation of high-end, high-performance mobile computing. Laptops built with this GPU were generally super-high-end. In terms of AAA games as of 2025, there are several options you can try; these are well optimized and will stay within the 12GB VRAM limits.

1. Battlefield 2042

You may or may not like playing this iteration of Battlefield, but considering the game’s sale price and optimization, it’s a good deal. Depending on your laptop’s screen’s refresh rate, you can expect high FPS numbers, 1% lows, and .1% lows. In terms of competitive play, the 4080 mobile is more than enough to deliver a pleasant experience.

2. Battlefield 6

From the recent open beta, it was evident how well the game is optimized. When the full game comes out, you can easily play this game at 1440p, high settings, and still get a lot of FPS. Optimizations like these in 2025 are a rare sight. The 12GB VRAM should be perfect for tackling the game. Frame Generation is available for use, but if you play competitively, you may not want to go that route, as it introduces a lot of input lag.

3. Far Cry 6

Arguably, Ubisoft’s most optimized title happens to be Far Cry 6. With the RTX 4080 mobile, you can easily max out all settings, enable RT, and at 1440p, play with balanced or quality upscaling and enjoy 60+ FPS all the time.  As for VRAM, you can expect it to stay below 8GB in most cases, and since you have 12GB on offer, there’s plenty of room to spare.

4. Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered

Both the original Horizon Zero Dawn and its Remastered version are incredibly well-optimized titles. With the remaster, the colors are way more punchier. If your 4080 laptop has an OLED screen, you are in luck for a vibrant and pleasing experience, as the game runs like an absolute charm.

Max out all the settings, and if by chance framerates drop on the native resolution, just turn down some settings; the performance discrepancies should disappear.

5. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition (2016)

On your 4080 laptop, this is an excellently optimized game. What you can do is add in tons of mods and still not get frame drops, fully leveraging the 4080 mobile’s computing power. At stock settings, with the ultra preset, you can expect the game to deliver 120+ FPS. With mods, textures, and shaders, the figure will drop, but will still be above 60. Lossless Scaling addresses these performance drops through adaptive frame generation, maximizing your laptop’s display’s maximum refresh rate.

Verdict

All of the games mentioned here will run flawlessly on the RTX 4080 mobile GPU. Most of the titles discussed here are very old, but due to their being very fun to play, they are still graphically pleasing. Only a few modern-day games are well-optimized; the rest, such as Mafia: The Old Country, Star Wars: Outlaws, and other games, are technically more advanced, but in terms of gameplay, they aren’t fun either.
