If you are yet to upgrade from the GTX 960, 1060, or 1650, check out these games that can still run smoothly on these GPUs.

Many users still own the GTX 960, 1060, and 1650, but they have become a lot older in 2025. A majority of the modern games simply refuse to run on these GPUs. However, modern games don’t always mean they are fun to play. There are older games that are actually quite fun and interesting to play, and the thing is, they run just fine on older GPU generations, such as GTX 960+, 1060+, and 1650+ series cards.
In this article, we will showcase some of these older games you can still play on older GPUs.

What Are the Best Games To Play On Older GPUs?
There are many games that older GPUs can play, but not all of them are actually good. Even the ones that are good, chances are you have played many of them. That’s why we are only showcasing some of the most unique, fun, and interesting games that you probably never played. Here they are:
1) Mafia Definitive Edition

If you are a 90s gamer, chances are you have played the original Mafia 1 or at least watched the classic Godfather movie, so you will feel right at home with the Mafia Definitive Edition. It is a remake of the original game but with modern graphics, a redefined story, extended story cutscenes, and better gameplay mechanics.
Mafia Definitive Edition is a title you must play, and it also runs decently on older GPUs, such as GTX 960+, 1060+, and 1650+. Even the weaker and much older Nvidia GTX 960 4GB model can deliver 40+ FPS at 1080p with Low graphics. If you are comfortable playing at 30 FPS, you can update some settings to Medium graphics.
2) Life Is Strange Original and Before The Storm

There’s just something about the original Life Is Strange and its prequel, Before The Storm, that the later titles failed to capture. Therefore, we recommend playing originals only. The story of the two games explores the actions and consequences of the choices made by the three main characters, Max Caulfield, Chloe Price, and Rachel Amber.
Max Caulfield is the only one with power. She can rewind time itself, which wreaks havoc on the town of Arcadia Bay. Both games use little GPU resources, so they will run quite well on older graphics cards. You will have no issues achieving a smooth 60 FPS, even at 1080p High graphics settings.
3) BioShock Remastered and Infinite

Both BioShock Remastered and BioShock Infinite have an interconnected story that is not obvious at the beginning, but you will understand as you progress through their stories and DLCs. In BioShock Remastered, you play in an underwater dystopian city called Rapture. On the other hand, BioShock Infinite is set in a similarly dystopian city called Columbia, but it is a floating city, which is the stark opposite of Rapture.
Both games have a really interesting and interconnected story that you must not miss. They run quite well on older GPUs, including the older Nvidia GTX 960.
4) Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War

There are two games in the Middle-earth series, Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War. They are set in the world of J.R.R. Tolkien’s books, The Hobbit (1937) and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. There are movies based on all of Tolkien’s books. If you have watched the movies or read the books, then you will feel right at home in the two games.
However, even if you are not familiar with the movies or games, you can still play the two games since they have enough backstory for you to understand the lore. Both games will run decently well on older GPUs, such as GTX 960+, 1060+, and 1650+. Achieving 60 FPS won’t be an issue.
5) Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

The Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is a unique game on this list. It is much different from other games in terms of story, narrative, and even gameplay mechanics. You will play the titular character, Senua, who suffers from psychosis and a distorted reality. Since the game follows her point of view, you will also see and experience her distorted version of reality. It’s a really interesting game and has a very engaging story.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice delivers around 60FPS on GTX 1060 and above at 1080p with Low graphics, but GTX 9060 users can only get around 40 – 50 FPS in the same settings.
