Discover the 5 best games without a sequel that were good and memorable enough to deserve one with our list.

There have been many instances where studios make a brilliant and fun game and even hint at a sequel towards the end of the game. Unfortunately, that sequel never comes, leaving fans to keep on hoping that one day, the developers will revive that IP. This is a testament to how good these games are and how much more untapped potential they have.
So, here are the 5 best games without a sequel that definitely deserve one.
Note: This article solely reflects the author’s opinion. The choices are subjective.
1. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is FromSoftware’s first game to win the Game of the Year award. This makes it even more surprising that it never got a DLC, let alone a sequel. It easily has the best combat in any of FromSoftware’s games, alongside some of the best and most intense bosses. Sekiro tests the player’s skill and reactions to their limit, only allowing the most skilled players to progress through.
In one of the endings, a sequel to Sekiro is teased. Hopefully, one day, Hidetaka Miyazaki and team can take up this IP once again and provide us with greatness.
2. Bloodborne

Bloodborne is always treated like it doesn’t exist by Sony, which is a real shame. As FromSoftware does not hold the rights to the Bloodborne IP, they have no say regarding a sequel or even a remaster. Fans have been begging for any Bloodborne content for almost a decade now, and Sony’s response has always been radio silence.
As Bloodborne is one of Hidetaka Miyazaki’s best and grittiest works, it definitely deserves a sequel as well as a remaster. They still have many things to explore in a sequel, such as new Great Ones, that can spice up the experience even more.
3. Bully

Bully is Rockstar’s forgotten child, as they constantly treat the IP like it does not exist. As a game, Bully was revolutionary for its time, fully capturing the early 2000s high-school aesthetic that many people adore to this day. Bully fans have been constantly grasping at straws, looking for rumors or any leaked details, anything that would hint at a sequel. Unfortunately, nothing ever comes to fruition with Bully’s sequel.
A while back, a rumor suggested that Bully 2 was in development at Rockstar, but it got canceled. Hopefully, Rockstar realizes that Bully has as much, if not greater, potential than Red Dead Redemption.
4. DmC: Devil May Cry

Before you crucify me, just hear me out. While it is true that DmC: Devil May Cry did some character assassination, I believe it deserves a second chance. Ninja Theory had everything set for a sequel, with Vergil returning to get his revenge on Dante. It’s a shame that they let the overall negative reception discourage them from pursuing the reboot further.
Ninja Theory’s unique approach to the Devil May Cry combat system has a lot of potential. That is why I believe they can accomplish a lot with a sequel and perhaps even redeem their controversial characters.
5. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance gained a lot of popularity in recent times, thanks to memes. It is ironic because one of the bosses puts a great emphasis on memes, calling them the DNA of the soul. MGR is a great game with a phenomenal combat system, which is all thanks to Platinum Games’ involvement in the development.
With how much popularity it gained, it is a surprise that Konami has yet to even drop a remaster of this game. Hopefully, they can rectify this mistake one day and give us both a remaster and a sequel.
