With each new expansion added to the Pokemon Trading Card Game, new cards are added for players to try out. Naturally, the same is true of the Destined Rivals set, the latest Pokemon TCG expansion. So, in this article, we will look at five of the best Pokemon TCG Destined Rivals decks that players should use in the current meta.

5 Best Pokemon TCG Destined Rivals Decks

These decks are the best ones using new cards from the Destined Rivals expansion.

  • Team Rocket’s Porygon Z
  • Cynthia’s Garchomp ex
  • Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex
  • Ethan’s Typhlosion
  • Marnie’s Grimmsnarl ex

5) Team Rocket’s Porygon Z

Team Rocket’s Porygon Z isn’t the flashiest card with the Team Rocket name on it, but the deck has proven capable of being consistent in the right players’ hands. The deck focuses on discarding as many Team Rocket’s Supporters as it can to power up Team Rocket’s Porygon Z’s move R Command. As there are five different Supporters classified as Team Rocket in the Standard format, R Command deals damage within the 200 range consistently.

Key Cards: Team Rocket’s Porygon Z, Team Rocket’s Supporters (Ariana, Giovanni, Proton, Archer, and Petrel)

4) Cynthia’s Garchomp Ex

Despite being a Stage 2 card, Cynthia’s Garchomp ex is quite the force to be reckoned with. Both of its moves are useful, with Corkscrew Dive allowing a player to draw cards while not still damaging the opponent without remaining passive. Its second move Draconic Buster, deals high damage at the cost of discarding all attached Energy. But by using Cynthia’s Power Weight to increase its HP and Cynthia’s Roserade to increase its damage output, this deck can catch unprepared players off guard.

Key Cards: Cynthia’s Garchomp ex, Cynthia’s Power Weight, and Cynthia’s Roserade

3) Team Rocket’s Mewtwo Ex

One of the most hyped up cards of this expansion, Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex has not quite dominated the meta. This is because its ability Power Saver needs four Team Rocket’s Pokemon on its side of the field. As a result, it is limited in using as many support Pokemon as it would have liked. However, it’s still a powerhouse once set up and can tear through most decks with its move Erasure Ball.

Key Cards: Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex, Team Rocket’s Spidops, Team Rocket’s Articuno

2) Ethan’s Typhlosion

Ethan’s Typhlosion has been making waves in Japan thanks to its move Buddy Blast. The move gains more power for each Ethan’s Adventure (a Supporter from this expansion) discarded by the player. While other Ethan’s Pokemon also benefit from this Supporter, the Typhlosion line has the best synergy with it. Ethan’s Quilava uses its ability to draw the card, which can then be used to draw Ethan’s Typhlosion. It can then evolve immediately from Quilava. What helps is that it is a single Prize attacker, so even when it’s taken out, it isn’t a big loss.

Key Cards: Ethan’s Typhlosion, Ethan’s Adventure, Ethan’s Quilava

1) Marnie’s Grimmsnarl Ex

While all the decks on this list have shown up in Japan’s City Leagues, Marnie’s Grimmsnarl ex has become a bona fide meta staple. This is because of a combination of its ability Punk Up and its move Shadow Bullet. Punk Up lets it attach up to five Darkness Energy to any Marnie’s Pokemon on your side of the field, including itself. While its move Shadow Bullet deals 180 damage for only two Darkness Energy and damages a Benched Pokemon as well.

Key Cards: Marnie’s Grimmsnarl ex, Froslass, Munkidori
