The RTX 5090 is the fastest GPU on the planet (period). As per specs, we have 32GB of GDDR7 RAM on a 512-bit interface and have more than 20K CUDA cores. All of which means that games, whether optimized or not, will run maxed out at 1440p and 4K too. Below are the five best-looking ray tracing games from each genre, which you can try on your mighty 5090.

1. Cyberpunk 2077

Back when this game launched in 2018, not even the 2080 Ti could play this at max settings at 4K. However, the 5090 can, arguably, with some software enhancements, such as the DLSS Multi-Frame Generation. When you enable path tracing at 4K, enabling DLSS MFG is compulsory; otherwise, you won’t be able to hit a playable frame rate. If you drop the quality upscaling and utilize the transformer model, the game then renders at 1440p, but outputs a much sharper 4K image than the traditional CNN model.

2. Alan Wake 2

When you factor in path tracing, at 4K, fully maxed out, you need to use DLSS MFG; otherwise, the entire experience will be subpar. However, you could use RT instead and rely on quality or balanced upscaling to achieve a higher frame rate, given that Remedy’s optimizations in this game still leave room for improvement.

3. Black Myth: Wukong

The same story continues over Black Myth: Wukong, as using path tracing will require you to turn on DLSS MFG to hit a playable frame rate at 4K. But you can just utilize normal RT, use upscaling, and play. You can achieve this by setting Full RT to OFF, allowing Lumen RT to kick in while the game still looks good. Apply upscaling on top of that, use a balanced or performance profile, and you are good to go.

4. Dying Light 2 Stay Human

Dying Light 2 offers the use of RTGI, meaning Ray Traced Global Illumination, which, when you turn it on and max out the option, will make the game look amazing. That said, depending on tonal preference, the pre-baked light (rasterized) may attract more people due to its vibrancy at night. Whatever it is, with the 5090, you can max out all the sliders and not worry about running out of VRAM.

5. Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition

Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition offers significant improvements in lighting, in-game optimization, textures, and more, compared to the original game. The 5090 can max everything out at 4K, hitting 100+ FPS without upscaling, and provides an enjoyable experience.

Verdict

All of these ray-traced games will run flawlessly on the 5090, especially for modern titles, such as Black Myth Wukong, Cyberpunk (with the new PT update), and Alan Wake 2, requiring DLSS MFG to hit a playable frame rate if you opt to use PT.

That said, VRAM-wise, you really shouldn’t be bothered, as even at 4K, except for a few unrealistic scenarios, such as Minecraft with humongous resource packs, nothing can max 32GB VRAM.
