When you join the Fighters Guild, you will have a chat with Azzan in the Guild Hall, who will then assign a quest to you. He asks you to get rid of the rat problem for a client in her home. While it might seem straightforward, the quest is anything but ordinary. You then have to speak to Arvena in her house, as she reveals that the rats are actually not the problem, as they are her pets.

Instead, something else is attacking her pets. You will have to protect the rats from the perpetrator. When you go into the basement, you will come across a mountain lion. You will have to deal with the mountain lion while the local huntsman leads the rats outside. The quest comes with a final twist revolving around the identity of the culprit. Despite Arvena suggesting that the culprit brought the lions into her home, in reality, they were trying to lead the rats outside the city.

2) A Shadow over Hackdirt

Perhaps one of the most mysterious quests in all of Oblivion Remastered, A Shadow over Hackdirt starts off by you meeting Dar-Ma in Chorrol. Later, when you return to the city, you will hear rumors of her going missing. Having a chat with her mother, Seed-Neeus will take you in the direction of Hackdirt, a small village in the South. When you try to unveil more details about the disappearance, you will face disappointment as the residents deny ever seeing Dar-Ma.

Nevertheless, after some intense investigation, you will find out that everyone in the village worships the Deep Ones. Moreover, they believe that sacrificing Dar-Ma could summon them. This Lovecraftian-inspired quest will give you the creeps with its eerie narrative and atmosphere.

3) An Unexpected Voyage

Upon visiting Imperial City in your travels in Cyrodiil, you should definitely head over to the Waterfront District. You will find a unique-looking inn named The Bloated Float. The Bloated Float was a ship that has now been retrofitted into the district’s tavern. Upon paying 10 gold, you get a room for yourself to get cozy.

However, relaxation time soon turns into something devious as the side quest “An Unexpected Voyage” begins, where it’s revealed that the ship has been hijacked. A gang named the Blackwater Brigands is the culprits behind the hijacking, and four members are spread throughout the ship. None of them will attack on sight and can be interacted with.

You can learn their motivations behind stealing the Bloated Float. You can choose to kill them. Sleeping again will complete the quest. If you return the ship to the city, you attain a reward.

4) Zero Visibility

The quest Zero Visibility can be started in two ways. You can either stumble on it while finding the village of Aleswell during exploration, or you can have a conversation with Malene at the Roxey Inn. Upon reaching the village, you will find out that there is a disturbing lack of activity. The village appears abandoned.

However, upon closer inspection, you will find a slight blue hint that unveils the truth. The villagers are all invisible and will plead with you to help them. They will ask you to meet the local wizard who resides just down the hill.

When you meet Ancotar the wizard and you explain the dilemma of the village, he will offer help and give a scroll to end the spell if his disposition is above 71. Do note that the reward for this quest is a free room at the Aleswell Inn. So, this is a great way to store items in the early game.

5) A Brush with Death

A Brush with Death quest can be either started by visiting the home of Rythe Lythandas or by listening to the rumors prevalent in Cheydinhal. Upon visiting the house, Rythe’s wife reveals that the famous painter has gone missing despite being inside a locked room. His wife pleads for your help in ushering his return.

Investigating Rythe’s studio will unveil a strange painting that seems to be different from the others. Activating it transports you into the painted world. You will have to defeat Painted trolls with turpentine, along with retrieving a magic paintbrush to ensure your and Rythe’s return to the real world.
