Minecraft streamers have seen their fair share of controversies over the past years and have been a major topic of discussion.
Minecraft has become a very popular game in the streaming industry, as the game can take very unpredictable turns as per the player. With over 300 million copies sold and almost 170 million monthly active players as of 2024, it is one of the most popular games. There are multiple servers created by various streamers where another Minecraft streamer can enter on an invite basis. This has helped them gain traction and see a massive rise in their popularity.
Over the years, the Minecraft YouTube Community has seen a number of controversies. They include pe**philic acts, hom**hobic and racist comments, and public relationship squabbles in which followers have to take sides. There are several influencers whose previous or present behavior has sparked controversy on social media platforms. Let’s look at some of them.
1. Minecraft Streamer Jschlatt
On March 21st, 2021, Jschlatt posted the video that drew criticism. The video’s thumbnail featured a badly made visual of blackface, with the name labeled in strong characters above it. The video was for the Jackbox game “Survive the Internet,” where participants attempt to alter their teammates’ remarks after being given a cue. Viewers instantly flocked to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction and displeasure at the use of this contentious dark image.
While a closer look at the video reveals that Jschlatt did not draw or present the blackface picture. Arguments in Jschlatt’s defense frequently emphasize the fact that it was drawn by the anonymous creator SwaggerSouls.
2. GeorgeNotFound
Caitibugzz, another streamer known for crafting Minecraft content, accused Minecraft streamer GeorgeNotFound during a 30-minute live stream. Caiti, 19, became tearful during the video, in which she recounted her assault. Caiti claimed in the video that she was inappropriately touched while intoxicated, claiming that he “slipped his hand under her clothes” by asking whether she was “ticklish.”
Although she did not mention GeorgeNotFound in the video, she later responded to a remark on Twitter/X, indicating that he was the one she was referring to. In a 30-minute video uploaded on Twitch, Davidson addressed the allegations of unwanted touching. Though he initially declined the allegations, he posted a tweet on X apologising for the same. He said,
“I have much more I will say, but for now, Caiti I am sorry. I am so sorry. I really hope you can hear my words and try to understand that I did not have any bad intentions. That does not change the fact that you were hurt. I will be saying more soon.”
3. Minecraft Streamer TommyInnit
Recently, a feud between popular Minecraft content makers Clay “Dream” and Thomas “TommyInnit” has created outrage in the live-streaming community. The drama began on January 11, 2025, when Dream tweeted a series of now-deleted tweets responding to TommyInnit’s recent remarks regarding Felix “xQc.” This comes after TommyInnit criticized xQc’s viral conversation with Donald Trump during Adin Ross’ stream.
xQc replied by accusing Tommy of gaining popularity by partnering with Dream. Dream soon entered the conversation, posting a meme that many people found insulting. The meme showed a DreamSMP fan deciding between “growing up” and becoming a “ret**ted TommyInnit fan.”
This sparked outrage, with some accusing Dream of ableism and “alt-right” tendencies. Moreover, Dream defended himself, claiming autism and pointing out the community’s double standards. He said that others had used similar words without repercussions, and he was upset with the hypocrisy. Dream acknowledged the outrage caused by his acts but stated that the criticism was frequently dishonest.
4. Dream
On March 19, 2021, Kaceytron posted a joke about how some streamers are canceled simply for breathing, while popular ones have been known to use “gay bait” in their videos. Dream and Tommy had previously been accused of “queer baiting” after flirting on-stream with YouTuber GeorgeNotFound. Kacey later clarified her tweet, writing that her “largely gay audience is f—ing sick of their identity being used as the butt of a joke constantly.”
She removed the tweet within an hour, but they were saved by Minecraft users. Following the tweet, Dream fans went through Kaceytron’s internet stuff and discovered some provocative and insulting comments. The streamer’s name trended on Twitter, with thousands of Minecraft enthusiasts accusing her of being “racist” and “homophobic.”
5. Kian Brose
Kian Brose, a YouTuber, streamer, and gamer, recently shared a video in which he made some shocking claims. In the video, Kian announces his intention to sue Minecraft and its developer, Mojang Studios. Kian claims that the game violates numerous international laws. He raises a number of concerns, including what he regards as self-serving corporation rules and a lax content control strategy, which he feels contributes to problems such as addiction and gambling.
In the video, Kian Brose discusses how Mojang updated their content policy to remove all guns from commercial servers, saying that guns violated their brand and commercial rules. They also stated that keeping guns violated the End User License Agreement. The problem is that, despite the restriction, the Minecraft Marketplace still has mods with bombs, firearms, blasters, and other weaponry.
Kian claims that his server, MC Wars, and other servers that employed weapon mods were forced to shut down due to the unexpected policy change. He says that he attempted to contact Mojang for clarification but received no response.
