Take a look at some of the craziest The Game Awards 2024 announcements and reveals, that are highly unlikely to happen.
The Game Awards 2024 is right around the corner, with the event scheduled to go live in less than 24 hours from now. While the primary focus of The Game Awards (TGA) is well, the awards itself, it certainly isn’t the only thing that draws players worldwide to the event.
Alongside the awards, it’s the new game trailers, announcements, and surprise reveals that get players hyped for TGA every year. And like every other year, this year’s The Game Awards is bound to have some genuine showstoppers. However, until the event goes live, we can only speculate what those surprise announcements can be. Here’s a list of the 5 craziest The Game Awards 2024 announcements, that are unlikely to happen.

The Game Awards 2024 Announcements That Are Unlikely To Happen, but Can End Up Breaking the Internet if They Do
1. New FromSoftware IP
FromSoftware, post-Elden Ring, is among the most revered video game developers out there. While the studio did have its fans owing to the Dark Souls games, it’s Elden Ring that ended up bringing the studio to the limelight. As it stands now, FromSoftware is counted among the likes of CD Projekt Red, Santa Monica Studio, Naughty Dog, and other highly respected Triple-A developers.
Although the studio did put out what is arguably the biggest DLC they’ve ever created, they haven’t released a new title since 2023’s Armored Core 6. Furthermore, Armored Core, despite its huge fan base, is still a niche, especially compared to the studio’s souls-like offering.
As such, a new IP announcement from the studio, especially if it’s helmed by the studio’s creative director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, would definitely make The Game Awards 2024 incredibly memorable. However, considering the studio very recently put out both Armored Core 6 and Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, any form of announcement from FromSoftware is, well, highly unlikely.
2. Black Myth: Wukong DLC
Black Myth: Wuklong was easily the biggest game release of 2024, period. There was a ton of hype and anticipation surrounding the game due to its Chinese Mythology-inspired story, action-packed gameplay, and impressive visuals. Following its release, the game, on most fronts, ended up surpassing the expectations most players had, delivering an excellent single-player action-adventure experience with truly next-gen graphics.
Furthermore, the game ended up making record-breaking sales on Steam within days of its release. Suffice it to say, players really enjoyed what developer Game Science delivered with their debut Triple-A title. Following the game’s success, reports of a potential expansion being greenlit hit the news. With the game being one of the nominees for Game of the Year at TGA 2024, getting a glimpse at said expansion would be awesome.
However, given the game was only just released a few months back, the DLC most likely is in the early development (or production) stages. Hence, it’s quite unlikely it’ll show up at The Game Awards 2024.
3. New Mass Effect
Mass Effect is among the biggest role-playing IPs out there, right alongside the likes of Fallout, Divinity, and BioWare’s very own Dragon Age. Although BioWare did fumble a bit with Mass Effect: Andromeda, they did somewhat redeem themselves with the recently released Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
BioWare has already teased that the studio’s next big project after The Veilguard is Mass Effect. However, outside of a short teaser, the studio didn’t reveal much about the title. With Dragon Age: The Veilguard being all done and wrapped up, perhaps TGA 2024 is the best place for BioWare to showcase their next major RPG offering and build up some hype.
However, with Dragon Age: The Veilguard having been released just a few months back, it seems a bit too early for BioWare to come swinging with a new game.
4. New Larian Studios Game
Even before Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios was a name that many within the CRPG sphere cherished a lot. However, Baldur’s Gate 3 is what ended up bringing the studio into the mainstream limelight. Back in 2023, BG3 wasn’t just a game that was released to universal acclaim; it was more of a phenomenon.
BG3 was an experience that was being enjoyed by almost everyone. The game appealed to everyone regardless of their taste in CRPGs or RPGs in general. Suffice it to say, Larian Studios left a lasting impression on players worldwide with Baldur’s Gate 3. However, since BG3’s release, Larian Studios has been very silent.
Perhaps The Game Awards 2024 is where the studio will finally give fans a glimpse at what they’ve been cooking for the future. Then again, with BG3 being quite a fresh release, it’s highly unlikely that Larian Studios will have anything to show this soon.
5. Bloodborne for PC and PS5
Bloodborne for PC has become more of a “meme” than reality. Fans have been asking for a PC port of this highly cherished PS4 exclusive for what seems to be ages. The game does appear in PlayStation’s marketing campaigns quite often; just take a look at the most recent PlayStation 30th Anniversary trailer. However, it feels more like a jab at fans than a hint at something PlayStation is actively working on.
Given how many PlayStation IPs have made the jump to PC, and how none of them are Bloodborne, it’s safe to assume the game’s not coming to PC. That is, unless PlayStation has had a change of heart and wants to finally make the game accessible to PC players.
TGA 2024 is probably the best place where PlayStation can finally give us Bloodborne fans some light. However, it’s still a reach and something that’s very unlikely.
