With the release of A Minecraft Movie, let us look at some other games that deserve a live-action adaptation.

Live-action adaptations of video games have existed for almost as long as video games themselves. Such adaptations tend to be hit or miss in terms of quality. However, occasionally, a video game gets a live-action adaptation that truly captures the feel of the games.
For such an adaptation to exist, numerous factors have to align behind the scenes. However, the first among them is to ensure that the game’s style and story are properly suited to live-action. With that said, here are five games that could be translated into live-action adaptations quite smoothly.
1. God of War
God of War is one of the most iconic video game franchises of all time. Kratos is one of the most beloved video game protagonists ever made, and his transformation from the vengeful god of war to the god of hope is one of the most touching character arcs in fiction as a whole.
But this series doesn’t need any advocacy, as a live-action adaptation is already in the works. Although production details like its release date and casting are still unknown, this show is sure to be one of the finest on television.
2. Call of Duty
Call of Duty is a shoo-in for shows that deserve live-action adaptations. Many of the games within the franchise feature stellar campaigns and highly emotional scenes. But some of these games stand above the rest.
The dark and surreal story of Black Ops and the political backdrop of Modern Warfare would both be perfect for a live-action adaptation. An adaptation of either would be a dream come true for many fans.
3. Ghost of Tsushima
Ghost of Tsushima is heavily inspired by samurai cinema, and especially those directed by Akira Kurosawa. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Ghost of Tsushima would work in live action.
Jin Sakai’s one-man war against the Mongols and his struggle to choose between honor and duty are the key points of this game. Therefore, both of these could be portrayed with stunning detail in live action.

4. BioShock
The BioShock games are considered to be some of the greatest of all time, and for good reason. But one of the main standout points is its rich and intriguing narrative.
The underwater city of Rapture filled with machines and mutants, would be amazing to see in live action. Additionally, with iconic characters such as the Little Sisters, the Big Daddies, Andrew Ryan, and so on, BioShock is practically tailor-made for live action.
5. Red Dead Redemption
Red Dead Redemption is one of the greatest games of all time. The same is true for its sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2. That is likely all the introduction that these games need.
Do either of these games even need an explanation? In music, narrative, characters, and just about every other metric, these games are masterpieces. And a live-action adaptation for them, provided it remained faithful to the source material, would likely be one of the greatest shows of all time. After all, both games prove that the audience for a good ol’ cowboy story is alive and well.
