The primary method of earning gold in Oblivion Remastered is to sell the loot you find on your adventures to merchants across Cyrodiil. However, as you progress past the early game, you’ll soon find that most merchants don’t have deep pockets. When you try to sell an entire dungeon’s worth of loot to vendors, most will quickly run out of gold.

Most vendors’ gold limitations become readily apparent when you’re trying to sell enchanted items and Daedric artifacts. You can increase a merchant’s base gold by 500 by leveling up your Mercantile skill to Master tank, and by 500 more if you invest in their stores. Investing is ideally done with vendors who already have a high amount of gold, as they will have the best buying power as a result.

5) Varel Morvayn

  • Available Gold: 1200-2200
  • Location: Morvayn’s Peacemakers, Anvil

A smith practicing his craft with a hammer in Anvil, Varel Morvayn has Apprentice rank Mercantile skill. He boasts a sizable gold reserve, buying weapons and armor without needing to reach Journeyman rank in Mercantile. He also sells the Truncheon of Submission, an enchanted club that restores health and damages fatigue.

4) Khafiz

  • Available Gold: 1500-2500
  • Location: Dunbarrow Cove

Unlocked after purchasing the 1,000g Fence upgrade from Dahlia Rackham, Khafiz is possibly the best fence in the game. He will buy stolen items from you even if you aren’t a member of the Thieves Guild. What makes dealing with him appealing is his comparatively low Mercantile skill compared to other fences. This guarantees you better deals on your sales.

3) Aurelinwae

  • Available Gold: 2000-2500
  • Location: Mystic Emporium, Imperial City Market District

A High Elf enchanter trading at the Mystic Emporium, Aurelinwae, only buys Alchemy ingredients, books, and potions until you reach Jourenyman rank in Mercantile. She provides upgrades for Frostcrag Spire once you have begun its quest. You can raise Aurelinwae’s available gold from 2000 to 2500 by reaching Master rank in Mercantile.

You cannot invest in Aurelinwae’s shop, which prevents her gold reserve from matching the level of the top merchants on the list. However, her Mercantile skill is only 6, making her the best trader to sell a high volume of cheap items for a better deal.

2) Rowley Eardwulf

  • Available Gold: 2000-3000
  • Location: Wawnet Inn, across the bridge west of Imperial City

Rowley Eardwulf is an excellent merchant for several reasons besides his high gold capacity. He provides upgrades for the Deepscorn Hollow once you’ve entered it, and offers basic training in Sneak up to level 50. He will also purchase weapons and armor without the need to reach the Journeyman Mercantile rank.

1) Nilphas Omellian

  • Available Gold: 2000-3000
  • Location: The Merchants Inn, Imperial City Market District

A Dark Elf merchant residing at the Merchants Inn, Nilphas Omellian, sells you upgrades for Battlehorn Castle alongside Alchemy apparatus and magical items. Nilphas is the go-to merchant when you have a lot of inventory to unload because he buys everything under the sun. Since Nilphas’ Mercantile skill is lower than Rowley’s, he offers better deals on every item while matching his large gold capacity.
