Discover the 5 most underrated games of all time that deserve a bit more love and praise than they were given.

There are always some games that fly under the radar despite being brilliant and great games. While these games received some praise, they truly merit additional attention due to the high-quality experience they provide. So, we will be highlighting the five most underrated games that need greater appreciation.
Note: This article solely reflects the author’s opinion. The choices are subjective.
1. ICO

Out of all the games that Fumito Ueda has made, ICO is the one that is appreciated the least, as everyone usually showers their praise on Shadow of the Colossus. I believe that ICO deserves some more love because of all the game developers it inspired and the legacy it left behind. Hidetaka Miyazaki took up game development because of ICO, and the soul of ICO is still alive in his games to this day.
The castles in the Souls series that rely fully on ambience, the interconnected shortcuts, and Miyazaki’s preference for desolate and dying worlds are all thanks to ICO.
2. Demon’s Souls

Demon’s Souls is what started the Souls series, as opposed to Dark Souls, which usually gets all the credit. While it does get more credit now compared to 2007, it is still underappreciated compared to Hidetaka Miyazaki’s other masterpieces. All of the mechanics that the Souls fans adore originated with this game, including invasions, brutal bosses, and the gritty open-ended lore.
I truly believe that us Souls fans should give props to this game, as without it we wouldn’t have the likes of Elden Ring.
3. Batman: Arkham Origins

Arkham Origins is the forgotten game that is ignored by everyone, including developers. When WB announced the Return to Arkham collection, fans were disappointed to find that Arkham Origins was absent. Personally, I never understood the hate for this game. Sure, it’s no Arkham City, but it is still a great game nonetheless.
Arkham Origins improves upon the free-flow combat and makes the stealth more interesting with new gadgets. Additionally, it is widely agreed upon that Origins has the best boss fights in the entire Arkham series. That is why I believe this game is criminally underrated.
4. DmC: Devil May Cry

Easily the most controversial entry on this list, but hear me out. Many fans believe that the DmC reboot changed the personality of each character to the point where they became completely different people. While that is true, the game does have a redeeming factor: the combat system. Ninja Theory did a great job with the combat system, as it is satisfying and fun.
You can execute many flashy combos, and the game also encourages switching between weapons for different enemy types.
5. Bully

Bully is easily Rockstar’s best game after GTA and Red Dead Redemption. Even now, Bully is still a phenomenal game, as it completely captures the vibe of 2000s high schools. It is full of charm, memorable characters, and a phenomenal storyline. The game also features many fun side activities, such as the carnival or taking classes.
Overall, it is one of the most immersive games Rockstar has ever made. This is why it is a real shame that we haven’t received any news about a sequel in over two decades now. However, even now, dedicated fans of Bully continue to cling to the hope that one day Rockstar will recognize Bully once again.
