Indiana Jones and The Great Circle

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle released on Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC on December 9, 2024. The action-adventure game from Bethesda Softworks featured the fan-favorite character of Indiana Jones, and it was critically acclaimed by both critics and players. Currently, the game has a favorable user score of 8.4 on Metacritic with 1200+ ratings.

A PS5 version of the game has also been announced, though Bethesda has yet to unveil its release date. So, for now, players on the console have to wait to get their hands on the title. But, while waiting to replay Indiana Jones’s latest adventure on Sony’s console, we have a list of 5 action-packed games to try in the meantime.

5 PlayStation 5 Games To Play If You Enjoyed Indiana Jones and The Great Circle

  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
  • Ghost of Tsushima
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • Hitman 3
  • Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Players consider Uncharted 4 a solid action-adventure game in its own right. However, the Uncharted series owes a lot to the original Indiana Jones movies. Witty protagonists and the ability to unearth archaeological mysteries and ancient treasures are just some of the similarities between the two series.

When it comes to gameplay similarities, both Uncharted 4 and Indiana Jones and The Great Circle present plenty of opportunities for exploration, puzzle-solving and combat. The fourth installment in Nathan Drake’s series also presents a deeply personal plotline to keep things more engaging for players.

Ghost of Tsushima

At first glance, Ghost of Tsushima might seem nothing like Indiana Jones and The Great Circle. It is a third-person title after all. And, the protagonist trades in the stylish revolver and fedora for katana and armor. However, the action-adventure game, developed by Sucker Punch Productions, managed to impress fans and critics alike with its fluid combat and engaging stealth mechanics.

Set in the year 1274, Players take on the role of Jin Sakai, a Samurai, who must liberate the Japanese island of Tsushima from Mongol invaders. The huge open-world setting presents plenty of secrets to uncover and meaningful side-missions to pursue.

Indiana Jones fans with a penchant for history will also be drawn in by the accuracy as presented by the developers. Sucker Punch sent its researchers to Tsushima island during the game development to ensure authenticity and respect for local customs and traditions.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

Square Enix successfully rebooted the Tomb Raider series in 2013, and Rise of the Tomb Raider released in 2015. Like the Uncharted series, Tomb Raider and its protagonist, Lara Croft, were also clearly inspired by Indiana Jones and his penchant for raiding old tombs.

Rise of the Tomb Raider clearly places great emphasis on player exploration and discovery. There are hundreds of secrets to uncover throughout the game’s maps. Besides open combat, Lara can also resort to stealth takedowns or simply choose to move past enemies undetected. Players can also gather materials and animal skins to craft upgrades for Lara’s weapons and gears, which lets them access new areas and uncover more collectibles.

Hitman 3

Players who enjoyed the stealth mechanics in Indiana Jones and The Great Circle may want to get their hands on Hitman 3. Released in 2021 by IO Interactive, Hitman 3 sees the return of the series protagonist, Agent 47. Players have to use stealth, tactics and the environment to infiltrate high security areas and assassinate the targets.

Similar to Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, players can approach objectives in different ways. Like Indie, Agent 47 can also don disguises during missions to slip past unsuspecting guards. And, after taking out an enemy, they can hide the bodies to avoid alerting others in the area.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

A shady group of people trying to take over the world and vying for global dominion – Does that sound similar? In Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, that group is the Nazis, while in the world of Deus Ex, it’s the Illuminati. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, set in 2029, follows augmented special agent Adam Jensen as he uncovers a deep-rooted plot by a chosen few to control world governments and economies.

The cyberpunk setting and futuristic augmentations all give Jensen an edge, allowing players to choose between a head-on approach or a more stealthy way forward. Every decision comes with consequences. Much like Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, you can expect a solid story, voice acting and an enticing soundtrack.

On the opening night of Gamescom 2024, Bethesda teased that the PS5 version of Indiana Jones and The Great Circle will be arriving in “Spring 2025.” It remains to be seen exactly how long PS5 players have to wait to get in on the action.
