In this list, we shall go over five video games releasing in December 2024 that you should absolutely take note of.
The year 2024 has been stellar for video games all around. The year kicked off with critically acclaimed titles such as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, with some Black Myth: Wukong, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, and Metaphor ReFantazio sprinkled in between.
As the fantastic year comes to a close, it is only fair for it to go off with a bang, and the December release lineup seems to agree. In this list, we shall go over five video game releases in December 2024 that you should take note of.
1) Indian Jones and the Great Circle
With Nathan Drake enjoying retirement and Lara Croft on seemingly a hiatus, it is on Indy to return and fill the treasure hunter void. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle looks to do more than just that, as MachineGames looks to flex its first-person repertoire to build a unique globe-spanning treasure-hunting experience. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle releases on December 9, 2024.
2) Marvel Rivals
With the hero shooter boom seemingly behind us, Marvel Rivals looks to revitalize the genre by adding SUPER heroes to it. Marvel Rivals takes up the Overwatch blueprint and spices it up with superheroes such as Spiderman, Thor, Hulk, and more. The game features a 6v6 gameplay, with the heroes interacting with each other in distinct ways accurate to the lore. The character interactions make for a unique spin, making Marvel Rivals a game to watch out for.
3) Path of Exile 2
The original Path of Exile, released over a decade ago, had amassed a cult following that keeps the game thriving to this day. Now, its sequel, Path of Exile 2, is set for release on December 6, 2024. The sequel is an action RPG with co-op for up to six players. The game’s campaign can be played solo or in co-op and features over a hundred distinct environments and a massive roster of 600 monsters and 100 bosses. The game promises hundreds of hours of content, and we can’t wait.
4) Spirit of the Samurai
The Spirit of the Samurai is a 2D action platformer that sees you trudging through a desolate Japanese village and fending off an Oni incursion. However, the game’s real attraction is the stop-motion visual, which gives it its unique flair and identity. With three playable characters, three weapons, and a gorgeous grim-dark aesthetic, this is a game to watch out for. Spirit of the Samurai releases on December 12, 2024.
5) Alien: Rogue Incursion
The Alien franchise saw a bit of a revival this year with the release of Alien: Romulus, and Alien: Rogue Incursion looks to keep the momentum going. A single-player VR game, Rogue Incursion is a horror game that throws you deep into hot waters with the Xenomorphs. The game faithfully recreates the franchise’s iconic aesthetic and retro visuals. The game releases on December 19, 2024, and we can’t wait to be hunted by the Alien again.
